If you are looking for cheap, backyard mechanic work and aren't too worried about quality work then…read morethis is the place for you. If you are looking for some quality work with professionals who will back their work then steer clear of James and his cronies. I had a major issue with my BMW's check engine light and a bunch of codes. These guys fixed 8 different things with a bill of $1,400 and told me all was good. On the way home the check engine light came back on and it still ran like crap. They tried a couple more fixes and another $300 bill but still no dice. I finally took the car to O2 Motorsports and they found out right away that the head gasket was shot. They thought it was hilarious that Jame's guys couldn't figure it out. I'm not sure if economy did this on purpose to jack some extra $$$ from me or if they really are that incompetent but either scenario is wrong. I have been using this place for years and referred lots of clients to them. Up to this point I had been happy with the service. It was surprising how quickly everything went sour. When I asked for a refund James was so abusive and confrontational. He said I needed to make better life choices because I was driving a piece of crap and he'd been doing me a favor by keeping it on the road for so long. It's easy to give guarantees and promises on radio ads, but be warned: he won't back them up when it comes down to it. There are quite a few other people who have similar reviews. If you read through them note how quick James is to refute their claims and bash their character. Ask yourself this: Why would so many people be writing negative review if there wasn't some truth to them? Yes business is booming at Economy but it's because they are cheap and get most simple things done right most times. Don't gamble with a fix that may require a more qualified repair facility.

Been coming here for years for work on my Honda. Their prices beat anyone around and they seem to always do great work. The occasional things get missed like exact oil levels or maybe a alternator belt wasn't tensioned enough, but out of the many visits I've had (unfortunately), their work has majorly been perfect. For performance vehicles, it's obvious you should stick with performance vehicle mechanics, as they are charging you way more to be as meticulous as the vehicle requires. For everything else, James and Economy is the shop I'd recommend.

I bought very expensive aftermarket bulbs but discovered the front bumper must be removed to change the light housing which I also wanted to replace. I saw this body shop had high stars on Yelp so I called to ask if they would perform the work. Their immediate response was "no" and "we don't do that kind of work and only install OEM components." I kindly asked " do you recommend anyone else that will do this work for me?". Immediate "nope, you'll just have to call around" They were about as helpful as a broken fence post and could care less in my opinion. My next phone call was to Underhood Automotive. Immediately helpful and professional. Chris said they do this kind of work all the time and install DOT legal headlights on older Shasta County Search and Rescue vehicles. Every single question I asked was answered. I live 4 hours away from Redding so coordinating this was somewhat of a Challenge. Chris even told me my mom's car had loud squeeking brakes and he would inspect those as well. Strong Automotive has high stars so I'm guessing their body work is pretty good but customer service is also very important and in this department, they have a long way to go.
