For performance vehicles, it's obvious you should stick with performance vehicle mechanics, as they are charging you way more to be as meticulous as the vehicle requires. I had a major issue with my BMW's check engine light and a bunch of codes. These guys fixed 8 different things with a bill of $1,400 and told me all was good. On the way home the check engine light came back on and it still ran like crap. They tried a couple more fixes and another $300 bill but still no dice. I finally took the car to O2 Motorsports and they found out right away that the head gasket was shot. They thought it was hilarious that Jame's guys couldn't figure it out. I'm not sure if economy did this on purpose to jack some extra $$$ from me or if they really are that incompetent but either scenario is wrong. I have been using this place for years and referred lots of clients to them. Up to this point I had been happy with the service. It was surprising how quickly everything went sour. When I asked for a refund James was so abusive and confrontational. He said I needed to make better life choices because I was driving a piece of crap and he'd been doing me a favor by keeping it on the road for so long. It's easy to give guarantees and promises on radio ads, but be warned: he won't back them up when it comes down to it. There are quite a few other people who have similar reviews. If you read through them note how quick James is to refute their claims and bash their character. Ask yourself this: Why would so many people be writing negative review if there wasn't some truth to them? Yes business is booming at Economy but it's because they are cheap and get most simple things done right most times. Don't gamble with a fix that may require a more qualified repair facility.

One day I have to make a trip to Chico for work but my bottom plastic engine cover was dragging on the ground, they hadn't even opened yet and helped me by pulling it off and they even rotated my tires! I was in and out in 5ish minutes! More recently my car was making a clunking noise in my passenger fender. I had replaced just about the whole suspension myself and couldn't figure out what we making the noise! I brought it in for an inspection so I could just get it fixed and over with, I picked it up and they had fixed the problem and didn't charge more than the inspection! On the way to his shop, it looks like an rutal area. But don't be discouraged by it. Indeed, he had very good skills, and a nice dog. He fixed the car for me with very detailed explanations. I feel that he really enjoyed his work. Good and impressive! The cost is reasonable and well explained ahead of the fix. Even cheaper than the mechanics I used to work with in my city.

He then delivered the car to me, probably spending 8 hours on the road from Anderson to the Bay Area and back to his shop. That's a level of service unheard of these days. There is no sign on the shop, and it's a mom-and-pop operation with very low overhead. He takes phone messages and texts, but don't get worried if he doesn't respond for a while, he stays focused when doing mechanical work and doesn't look at the phone. We figured that if we ever needed major auto repairs again, it would be cheaper to stay in Anderson for a week and have Mike do it, than have it done at home.

Five stars all day!!! My situation started in July 2024 when…read moremy transmission went out on a road trip through Northern California. I was towed into Hartnell Transmission and met Dale. Unfortunately I needed a whole new transmission and had to leave the truck for a few days. Dale was extremely fair and honest, and did a fantastic job rebuilding my transmission. It even came with a 2-year warranty !! Fast forward to this week. The new transmission has been great but we experienced a minor issue. I gave Dale a call and he recommended two transmission shops in Reno where we could take the truck to be checked. The shop I chose stated the transmission was damaged beyond repair due to a clogged air filter and would not be covered under warranty. This made no sense!! I called Dale at Hartnell and relayed the message. Dale assured me that any issues with the new transmission would be covered. Dale called the other shop and ultimately paid for the diagnosis and asked that I take the truck out of that shop and take it to the other for a second opinion. Turns out there is no serious issue after all and the transmission was given a clean bill of health. I appreciate Dale's professionalism and excellent customer service. Now, I wish my transmission never died, but since it did, I'm very happy it ended up at Hartnell transmission. Thank you Dale!!!!!
