Let me share you my story…read more We were on a road trip from the SF Bay Area to Seattle and back. That's about 2000 miles (probably more including the side trips). Needless to say, I had our diesel BMW X5 checked before leaving the Bay Area. When we got to Redding, CA, the dreaded check engine light (CEL) came on. So, we were frantic not knowing what was wrong with our car. Also, we had no idea what shop to go to. Can we find somebody knowledgeable and with the right equipment to work on a diesel X5? Can we find somebody honest enough who'll tell us exactly what's wrong and not charge us an arm and a leg? The universe must have been on our side because we found Steven, the manager (or owner) of Angelo's Classic Import. With Steven, all our fears were gone. They have a very updated shop with all the equipment needed to diagnose our car's problems. We found a very honest person in Steven who charged us honestly. (Turned out the issue was minor and he charged us only $20!) How I wish his shop is in the Bay Area because I would drive the whole length of the Bay Area just to have the privilege of me becoming his client for life! Try his shop and I'm sure you'll experience the same type of excellent Customer Service as I did! Thank you Steven for your service!

Five stars all day!!! My situation started in July 2024 when…read moremy transmission went out on a road trip through Northern California. I was towed into Hartnell Transmission and met Dale. Unfortunately I needed a whole new transmission and had to leave the truck for a few days. Dale was extremely fair and honest, and did a fantastic job rebuilding my transmission. It even came with a 2-year warranty !! Fast forward to this week. The new transmission has been great but we experienced a minor issue. I gave Dale a call and he recommended two transmission shops in Reno where we could take the truck to be checked. The shop I chose stated the transmission was damaged beyond repair due to a clogged air filter and would not be covered under warranty. This made no sense!! I called Dale at Hartnell and relayed the message. Dale assured me that any issues with the new transmission would be covered. Dale called the other shop and ultimately paid for the diagnosis and asked that I take the truck out of that shop and take it to the other for a second opinion. Turns out there is no serious issue after all and the transmission was given a clean bill of health. I appreciate Dale's professionalism and excellent customer service. Now, I wish my transmission never died, but since it did, I'm very happy it ended up at Hartnell transmission. Thank you Dale!!!!!

Tried a number of transmission shops and only Frank with California Transmissions was willing to help without several days of delay. He is an honest, reasonably priced, skilled mechanic, and a genuine human being!!!!

But as luck would have it we were a few blocks from California Transmissions and I was able to limp my Chevy Z71 in on the transfer case. (4WD, locked in first gear) It was Saturday afternoon and "Frank" was up to his elbows in another transmission. He listened to my sob story and quoted a fair price for a complete rebuild. We left my truck with him and his help gave us a ride to Enterprise for a rent-a-dent. Monday afternoon I returned my rental and hung out in the shop while Frank installed my rebuilt transmission. Let me tell you, this is not shade tree mechanic's work. I was impressed by the skill and professional integrity I was privy to. The shop floor may be a mess, but the work coming out of it is first class. We live on a mountain top outside of Weaverville and we'd have been stranded this winter without our 4WD truck. Thanks to California Transmissions we haven't missed a beat.

I bought very expensive aftermarket bulbs but discovered the front bumper must be removed to change the light housing which I also wanted to replace. I saw this body shop had high stars on Yelp so I called to ask if they would perform the work. Their immediate response was "no" and "we don't do that kind of work and only install OEM components." I kindly asked " do you recommend anyone else that will do this work for me?". Immediate "nope, you'll just have to call around" They were about as helpful as a broken fence post and could care less in my opinion. My next phone call was to Underhood Automotive. Immediately helpful and professional. Chris said they do this kind of work all the time and install DOT legal headlights on older Shasta County Search and Rescue vehicles. Every single question I asked was answered. I live 4 hours away from Redding so coordinating this was somewhat of a Challenge. Chris even told me my mom's car had loud squeeking brakes and he would inspect those as well. Strong Automotive has high stars so I'm guessing their body work is pretty good but customer service is also very important and in this department, they have a long way to go.

When I called Redding Crown Honda, I got no help unless I wanted to pay to have the car checked. This was not an option since the car was just at Dublin Honda 7 days prior for diagnostics and repair. Why would I pay to have the car checked again? I called Dublin Honda, hoping they would work with Crown Honda, and get it checked for free. Guess what? Dublin Honda doesn't warranty their work, just the part. I ended up going to an O'Reilly Auto Parts store in Redding. A nice man checked the car for free but unfortunately he couldn't get a read from the car's computer. He recommended I go see Norm and spoke highly of him. Norm took a look at the car for free, gave me a recommendation, reset the computer and sent me on my way. He was so nice, respectful, and understanding. He took the stress away while on vacation and for that I'm so grateful. We need more men like Norm, in this world, especially in the world of auto repair. Thank you Norm!!

I didn't want to make another local appointment to drop my vehicle off and have it serviced whenever someone got around to it. So, based on positive reviews, I took a chance on making an appointment with Norm's and drove there for service. There was a miscommunication on my model but Norm ordered and received the correct parts in town quickly once that was resolved. I was able to drive away in a couple of hours and arrived back home by the afternoon. It was no hassle at all. Norm took a couple of minutes at the end to explain to me how I could do some more visual diagnostics on the vehicle myself, quickly pointing out a few relevant parts with his flashlight. He obviously didn't have to do that, but this is going to save me a lot of time later. The prices were very fair. When I looked up the services on Google for approximately what they should cost, Norm charged me around that amount. He also said for some things he wouldn't charge too much extra for if I wanted them done at the same time. This was much different than places I am used to who will charge me twice for taking apart the same thing once. Even with $50 in gasoline, the service was very affordable. I'll be spending all my vehicle maintenance budget with Norm as long as his business is still open. I'd be confident to recommend this business to anyone who has a Honda. My vehicle now runs a lot better than it did before and I feel like the money I spent went to someone who deserves it for quality work and excellent customer service.
