It's been a quick months since my last visit, even at 6:45 Westpac was busy. Easy self checkin at one of two kiosk's. Comfortable clean waiting area with the latest news being played. My wait was about 30 minutes without a appointment. I need to remember next time to make one it would save a lot of time. The staff was friendly, professional and very busy. I experienced no pain and she got the desired results on the first try! The lab at this location has been my first choice, since they opened a while back. Check in could have been better. They didn't have an electronic copy of my orders (which was not their fault). I call my Doctor's office to have them faxed. After waiting 45 minutes, I asked the ladies at check in if they had received the orders and they said they had not. They told me the fax doesn't come to their office, but to "client services" downtown. I asked for the number to client services and when I called and explained the situation, the lady there was frustrated because the office I was at, could have called for them because they were sitting there, labeled. I was finally called back for the test, after being there for 1.5 hours (there were only 2 people ahead of me, when I arrived). Next time, and every time, I will call ahead to make sure they have the orders. As far as the actual blood-draw went, I would give the phlebotomist 5 stars. read more

Came in for my 3rd time today and got seen in minutes. I'm usually someone who hates needles so I'm glad labs are usually an in-and-out process. But today's staff member who took my labs (Lacey) was very empathetic and made the process more welcoming; as well as made my embarrassing fear for needles much less fearful. Not that my previous visits were unsatisfactory, but it felt very dull/rushed during those times. Glad today came with a much more comfortable dialogue and an overall good atmosphere. read more

Let me preface my bad review by saying I came in on a Saturday (they have minimum hours 8 AM to noon) at 10:40 AM. After more than an hour, they told me that my lab slip was incomplete and they couldn't do the lab work. In my opinion, they are very inefficiently run, and borderline rude. i have such a difficult time with getting my blood drawn, and the moment the woman drawing my blood could see that i was anxious, she immediately started to distract me and did a wonderful job! she took 4 vials in less than a minute and i barely even noticed her switching between them. it was fast and she made me feel very safe and cared for! the only thing that sucked is that when you take a urine sample, you have to walk back out into the waiting room with it. not that big of a deal, but a little disposal compartment in the bathroom would have been nice. overall i had a great experience. the wait was also very short, even without an appointment. i was back in less than 10 minutes. read more

This is the worst lab ever. I checked in at 6:50am with a 7:45 appt. Literally everyone in the waiting room got called before me. When I asked how much longer the wait was the worker tells me walks in have priority over my appt. So after I sign in again, 5 people get called in before me. I had to wait 45 minutes before finally getting called in. read more

Now called Westpac Labs. Well, that is what the sign says anyways. Only been to this location once in my life. We came in on a Saturday about 20 minutes from closing time. Expected to see a full house of folks waiting to be seen. To my surprise, there was less than 10 people waiting! My wife registered at the little checkin counter. No issues at all. Within 10 minutes, she was called in. A few minutes later, she was out with a big smile on her face. My wife absolutely hates getting her blood drawn. Most phlebotomists have to fish around or poke her a couple of times before getting it right. The person who assisted her that day was exceptional. She immediately put my wife at ease, and got her blood flowing on the very first try! We both are fans of this Westpac branch located near Brimhall. read more

Good morning. My experience at this location was great. Everything went out smooth. From the time we checked in 'til the time we're dispatched. The girls were super nice and professional. My two year old needed some lab work and this was the place I chose as we live nearby. I totally recommend this place don't be skeptical about the bad reviews. Came in Tuesday and the place was packed at least 15 people in waiting room. I usually come in and it's empty, I guess everyone needed their blood work done At the same time. Not sure if they are short handed today. Place is clean, they have a kid section with toys in the back of room . They also have a tv on to watch while you wait. I actually didn't have to wait long. Almost no wait time. The least busy of the labs! The blood lady was super careful and professional with my 6 year old. No tears, no crying. On the way out he said, "we can only come here now because it didn't hurt do much!" It is also located near an urgent care that referred us to them so a trip to the Dr doesn't have to drag you all around town! read more

This places policies are ridiculous. We came in the 15 min window but because factors out of our control like an old lady signing in electronically (which is the only check in method) we missed the 15 min window . Everyone else who was on time also prob missed the window too and were forced to sign is as a walk in. It is just irritating because I rushed to get here on time and for what? This company is a joke! It seems like every six to eight months this company changes ownership and the service gets worse. The staff are always friendly and polite, but the management who run it should be terminated. I made an appointment on the WestPac website for 6:45am for lab draws on a Saturday. When I arrive to this facility at 6:30am, there were already about 12 people ahead of me waiting to get inside, which doesn't open until 7:00am!! WTH? Why would you allow someone to make an appointment at 6:45am, when you don't open until 7:00am? Unfortunately there are many of these poorly managed lab draw stations in Bakersfield. went to lab today for bloodwork. New check in screen for all info they already had. Completed the questions and sat down. A woman wandered out carrying some boxes and asked if I had checked in. I said yes and then she said I hadn't. She disappeared into the back. She then loudly called my name from the backroom. I went back to the draw room and told her that it would have been more professional to go to the lobby and ask for me to come back. I have been to this draw station many times but apparently new management has really messed this place up. Looking for new draw station. read more

Horrible experience- Got called by a collection agency for a bill I had never been billed for. I have Medicare and Blue Shield and it says I might have to pay but never got a bill from Westpac labs. So how would I know what to pay if I don't receive a bill and then to have a collection agency come after me was horrible. I paid the bill immediately through the collection agency, but I still don't know what I paid for. Waiting to hear back from Westpac since I sent an email regarding this situation. Staff is nice and to their credit, the Paso office has seats spaced far apart (two thumbs up), whereas the San Luis One just had about 30 people crammed in their chair to chair! As Covid cases are rising, it is absolutely surprising that they don't have a system for prechecking and entering insurance and streamlining the process online. BIG ISSUE: always an hr and a half wait and this time I called To find out everything I could. They could have said we are taking appointments... of course, they didn't and then told me they take appointments while drawing my blood Come one guys, yo are a HEALTHCARE FACILITY!!! You should be doing everything you can to make sure exposure times are minimized - 'this means appts only barring emergency walk ins. Worst experience ever! Got up at 5:30an to take a live transplant and dialysis patient in for lab work that was not mobile. Signed in to get r to o the window. They could not find the order from Cedar Sinai so I showed her the order on the patients phone . So she advised I should leave and go print the order and come back. I asked can't you just print it? She checked with someone and says no! This is unacceptable customer service for not assisting a disabled person with printing a piece of paper to have critical lab work done after being in hospital for 4 weeks!! Every time the lab changes ownership, the patient services get worse. You're better off taking your req and going to an independent phlebotomist to have your specimens sent out. They often miss on their sticks, aren't on the same page about whether you need to be fasting, have lost requisitions after the patient has handed it over, and the wait is ridiculously long even with an appointment. read more

I was at pals this morning to have blood drawn. It's no big deal, but I met a new phlebotomist, new to me as I have been in there many many times before, but the tech I met today was the nicest I have ever met there. She was helpful, honest, sweet and sincere. Her name was Leanne W. (Name used with permission). Not only was she all those things, her technique and her draw was almost pain free. A concept that many there haven't mastered or are in such a hurry, patient comfort is not a high priority. But this woman, Leanne, should be giving the rest of the staff there, tips on patient comfort, care and professionalism. Hats off to Leanne W. Great job girl!!! read more

i really had a very bad experience at Westpac Lab Brimhall. The Phlebotomist that first attended to me was so hostile and unprofessional she spent over 10mins looking for blood works code on her computer and kept calling her colleague to help her out. I was really patient. she tried drawing my blood no success, she called on her colleague still no success then a 3rd colleague came no success. They pricked me all over and I am in pain right now. They were all unpleasant especially the 1st and 2nd phlebotomists. this lab is not a good lab at all. very poor customer service and unsuccessful lab draw. not even sorry about the pain from any of them. They were all unpleasant and to top it all, all 3 trained Phlebotomists could not draw out blood. I k I a ghost? Lol. What a shame read more

Called ahead "Can I pick up the sample cup for my son and bring it back" Response "sure come on down and pick it up" then I asked "will that take long". response " no just need to sign in and pick it up" almost 2 hours later after I arrived I got the sample cup for my son. I have no idea what everyone is complaining about. I visited this lab right after a doctors appointment on Wednesday and there were maybe 8 people waiting in the waiting room. I signed in on the electronic keypad and waited maybe 5 mins and got called to the back. I had Cindy and she was very nice. She took good care of me and was fast. I had to do 10 vials of blood and for some reason was a little woozy after. Cindy got me a water and let me sit at her station while she finished marking the vials. She made me feel ok for being a wuss. I like this location . It's very clean and efficient. I will be coming back. read more

I've been to this location a few times now for some lab work and each time has been pleasant; however each time I went into the lobby restroom to give my urine sample I noticed that the toilet paper holder has not been cleaned. There is residue as if someone placed their urine cup there and there was urine on the bottom of their cup leaving an imprint of the bottom rim of their cup. I wouldn't have rated PAL so low, but because the 3rd time I came to this location I was the 1st pt to give urine sample the toilet paper holder had that same rim residue. That means no one is cleaning the restroom. This is a place that handles tons of bodily fluids so I believe that they should clean thoroughly and frequently. That right there was a big no no for me! The staff is really nice and each time I came in, I was serviced by different people who were very professional and very pleasant; however I just can't get past the urine rim residue. Sorry PAL... I've seen way too much and know way too much for my own good and I rather not touch someone else's urine or other bodily fluids. Please take care of that issue ASAP! read more

100% will lose or not be able to find your order. They drew the wrong labs, labs for a male instead of a female. New orders were called in. Told me I needed pre auth even though they had my orders for A WEEK before I arrived. Told me I should leave and come back in a week. About ten minutes later someone called to say it had been authorized. It's joint run by divas. I've been sitting here for 20 minutes now (on the next day) and they've turned four or five people away saying they don't have their orders. read more

Went to westpac lab off Brimhall. Keep in mind all the other "health professionals" are wearing masks and gloves due to Coronavirus pandemic. It was business as usual at the Brimhall location ,no extra precautions or masks visible. The "Lab techs" apparently forgot I was there in the back having my blood drawn. Upon walking up to exit door two employees were laughing at the patients and I quote here..." Look at all these clowns trippin' wearing masks and gloves". They turned around and seen me and basically gave me a " So what F.....ker look. I was "one of the clowns wearing a mask". Very unprofessional conduct on the part of employees at the Brimhall location. read more

The lab on F St does not require their employees to wear masks. The tech's face was withing 2 ft of mine...thank heavens I had on a mask. I did not feel safe, and would suggest that before you go for any medical procedure, check with the facility to determine what safety precautions they are taking. read more

A lab is not exactly the kind of place you really want to go to since it is always for tests for your health. I found myself here recently to do some blood work. I walked in and used their digital check-in computer in which I was called to the window within 10 minutes, not too bad. I had to do a urinalysis as part of my lab so I went to use the restroom which was not too clean. After filling the cup, you cover it and place it in this metal cabinet that opens on the other side. I assume they periodically check it since they had no indication I put my sample there...at least I hope they got it eventually. Several other people walked in, checked themselves in and were called back before me. I would say approximately 7 people called before me. I can only assume it is due to my large lab request since my doctors requested everything to be tested. Finally after waiting about 20 more minutes, they called me back. The young lady verified my info, provided me with the necessary sample stuff for a stool sample which I have to return later haha. After verifying my information, I tried joking with her but she didn't even crack a smile. I get it, she needs to be professional but at least make me feel comfortable since she was about to stab me and suck out a good amount of blood. During the withdrawal, not one word, not a peep. When it was completed, she said thank you and have a nice day. Wow, so robotic but I get it, a busy Saturday and they are trying to get patients in and out. The time here could be a little faster but it could be worse. I do like the check in feature so you are not waiting on someone to write all your information down. But I do hope for more cleanliness from a laboratory which is why I rated at a 3. read more

Staff talking about a doctors wife who came in to drop off right at closing. Also talking about my labs that were ordered STAT. Front desk girl talking for everyone to hear to girl who brought me to the back cubicle area. Make sure you push the STAT button! They were laughing and ridiculing and I wasn't aware my dr ordered mine STAT. The girl who took me to the back and is entering information into the computer is talking crap with the guy now drawing my blood and the girl at front desk. They complain about their trash now being dumped in 3 days then they talk about a lady who came in after me and right before they closed. The girl imputing my info says good thing they let her drop off before they locked the door because she is Dr Irani's wife and she would have called and complained. Then she says oooooops, I forgot to push the STAT button. I was there to hear all and it was like they wanted me to hear. Rude, unprofessional, and could have been because I came in 4 minutes before closing and possibly because I am Caucasian. The entire staff was Hispanic. Will never go there again. read more

I don't wait long when I come maybe 10-15 minutes top, older patients always complain when I'm in there because they can't stand to wait but I don't mind . Better than most other places I've gone in town ... staff are nice .... it's clean ... easy to sign in with the kiosk read more
