Major renovations are usually a huge headache, but Matt and his team made the process as painless as possible. Here is why they were so great: Speed & Quality: The craziest part is they finished the entire project in just 6 months. When a contractor moves that fast, you usually worry about them cutting corners, but the quality of their work is amazing. Ken (Project Management): Ken was our main point of contact and an absolute lifesaver. He was always super responsive, organized, and kept everything moving on schedule so we didn't have to stress. Bryan (Tile Work): This guy is an absolute artist. Our tile work looks completely flawless. Jayron (Electrical): He did an excellent job with all the electrical work. It's always a bit nerve-wracking dealing with a house's wiring, but he really knows his stuff and made sure everything was done perfectly and safely. Big thanks to Matt and the rest of the crew. They basically built our dream home, and I'd hire them again in a heartbeat. If you need a solid, reliable team for a big project, these are your guys!

We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and professional team. From start to finish, their team went above and beyond. Their design and permit team really surprised us in the best way because they stayed on top of everything and made the whole process smooth and stress-free. We never felt lost or overwhelmed. Our family absolutely loves the kitchen. It's very unique, modern, and thoughtfully designed. You can tell they really care about both style and functionality. They finished our two-story home exactly on the timeline they promised, which meant a lot to us. It's rare to see that level of reliability in construction. Nima was outstanding throughout the entire process. He was always on top of everything, very professional, and easy to communicate with. His design experience really stands out, and you can see it in every detail of the house. He truly cared about us and made sure we were happy every step of the way. The quality of the finish is exceptional. Every detail feels well done and high-end. Nima and his project managers met with us regularly, often daily, which made us feel very supported and confident throughout the project. Overall, we couldn't be happier with our home or the experience. Highly, highly recommend!

This was a six-figure remodel that looks acceptable only at a distance. Up close, the workmanship…read moreand quality control are far below what was contracted and paid for, and the most serious issue is unpermitted work that directly harms the homeowner. Key issues: * No permits pulled for electrical work, bathroom remodels, or major door installation (sliding/nana-style door) * Bathrooms were not properly waterproofed, resulting in a significant leak from the upstairs sink and shower into the kitchen below * Level 5 wall finish was explicitly contracted and not delivered * Paint applied over fixtures and fire sprinklers, impairing function and creating safety concerns * Poor finish work throughout: uneven surfaces, peeling paint, exposed gaps, unsecured fixtures, and visible installation shortcuts Because required permits were not obtained, I am now exposed to liability, disclosure requirements when selling, potential fines, and reduced home value. This is not a cosmetic complaint--it is a material and legal issue that the contractor failed to address. Premium materials do not excuse substandard labor, lack of oversight, and permit avoidance. I would not recommend this contractor to any homeowner expecting professional-grade work or code-compliant execution. Extra update not added on original review: I do not recommend Nima at all. This experience caused serious safety issues, stress, and legal problems as a homeowner. Water from the upstairs shower/sink leaked into the kitchen ceiling and through a recessed light fixture while electricity was on, causing the light to flicker. I have video evidence showing water actively coming through the ceiling and around the light. Seeing water pour through an electrical fixture inside your home is terrifying and created a real fear of electrical shock or fire. This occurred during a six-figure renovation, yet plumbing and bathroom work were done without proper permits and without correct waterproofing. The leak originated from upstairs plumbing and was not treated as an emergency. What made this situation far worse is that Nima completely abandoned the project. He stopped responding to calls and messages and refused to address the dangerous conditions he caused. As a homeowner, this left me dealing with unsafe living conditions, hidden water and electrical damage, and serious legal and resale risks due to unpermitted work. Because of his lack of accountability and abandonment of the job, I was forced to take legal action, including pursuing recovery through his contractor's bond. No homeowner should be put in this position. This was not cosmetic work gone wrong. This was a dangerous failure that directly impacted my safety, my home, and my peace of mind. I strongly urge anyone considering this contractor to verify permits independently and proceed with extreme caution.

In short, we are extremely happy with the results, and enjoyed a smooth renovation process. We felt like we had personalized service and weren't just one project of many. Pricing was reasonable compared against the (many!) other contractors I "interviewed" before choosing to move forward with Bay Remodeling -- I feel that your money goes towards quality work and attention rather than lots of company overhead. The main highlights were Avi himself and our project manager Mel -- both were incredibly responsive and communicative from start to finish. Generally, Mel was on-site any time there was work being done, and Avi would come by at least weekly to check progress and have in-person chats with us about certain decisions and plans. We had a few hiccups during the design and buying stages, which could have been in part because my husband and I are new to home renovations. If I were to do another project with Avi's team (and I absolutely would) I might be a little more specific and ask more questions during the design phase to make sure we got everything right the first time, and were prepared for the process. That said, the designer did a great job of taking our ideas and turning them into reality, including super-realistic renderings to help us picture what the spaces would look like. It felt great to be able to give her thoughts and inspiration and quickly receive links, photos, concrete suggestions, in response. Because our home is older, and we were already doing a large project, we ended up adding on some extra changes and improvements since we were happy with the crew and their work from the start; they happily accepted every update. They also provided information about the state of some of our systems, informing us and suggesting upgrades as possible -- but never in a pushy or patronizing way. We also had work stall for a few months(!) due to the city permitting office. Even though the delay had nothing to do with Bay Remodeling (and rather, messed up /their/ work and scheduling as well), Avi and Mel were very apologetic throughout. They were able to pick up where they left off the minute the permits came through. It was a pleasure to work with true professionals that are also just great people. I would recommend Avi and his team in a heartbeat to anyone else looking to upgrade their home under the guidance of a quality contractor.

He promised to complete the project in 5 to 6 months, but after 4 months, he hadn't even finished half the work and ended up abandoning the job entirely. We interviewed three contractors to take over, and we ultimately chose Tony Tran Construction. We immediately felt we could trust Tony, and his estimate was the most reasonable of the three. Tony went above and beyond for us. He handled all the extra administrative work with the city to transfer the permits. He and his foreman, Ben, and his whole team put in a lot of effort to fix the previous contractor's mistakes so we could pass city inspections. Tony and Ben were remarkably patient throughout the process, and once his team took over, every single inspection passed on the first try. When it came time to select interior materials--from kitchen cabinets, countertops, and shower panels to tile flooring, doors, vanities, and vinyl planks--Tony personally took my husband and me shopping. His expertise saved us a major headache when my husband ordered an electric water heater from Home Depot; Tony immediately pointed out that it wouldn't pass code in San Jose and advised us to switch to a heat pump water heater. As a licensed contractor, he truly knows the local city codes inside and out. Working with Tony and his team was a wonderful experience. His crew is hardworking, skilled, and responsible. We are thrilled with the finished ADU and so relieved the project is complete. After everything we went through, our biggest takeaway is how crucial it is to hire a trustworthy contractor, and you can trust Tony! We strongly recommend Tony Tran Construction for any home building or remodeling project!

We were very happy with the rental income, and because the property had a nice-sized backyard, we decided to build an ADU to further increase its value and income potential. We searched through Yelp to find a contractor who could help us with everything from the design process to obtaining permits from the City of San Jose. We wanted a contractor who could turn our vision into reality without unnecessary headaches or complications--and that was not too much to ask. We interviewed three contractors before meeting Tony and ultimately selected him for our project. Trust and honesty are extremely important to our family. What immediately set Tony apart was his calm, professional manner and his honesty. From our first meeting, we felt that we could trust him. Tony operates a small company, which we really appreciated because he was our primary point of contact throughout the project. We never had to go through a receptionist, manager, or superintendent just to get answers to our questions. Tony brought in his designer, Jimmy Dinh, to help us develop the ADU layout. He also immediately submitted an application to PG&E for a new 100-amp electrical panel. Tony explained that obtaining power from PG&E was one of the most critical parts of the project--and his experience proved to be absolutely right. Tony also handled the inspection scheduling. As we learned, San Jose has many construction projects but not enough inspectors, and the normal waiting period for an inspection can be three to four weeks. Tony scheduled our inspections well in advance, which helped us avoid unnecessary delays. Once Tony obtained the permit from the City of San Jose, his team began the foundation footings the very next day. One thing we particularly appreciated was that his crew worked six days a week and stayed with our project until it was completed. We never experienced the frustration of having workers constantly leave our project to work somewhere else. Working with Tony and his team was truly a pleasure. We never had arguments or major problems, and there was always a positive atmosphere throughout the construction process. Ben, Tony's partner and superintendent, supervised the entire project. His knowledge and experience in construction were exceptional. We always felt that our project was in very capable hands. Communication was another one of Tony's greatest strengths. Whenever we had a question or concern, Tony responded to our calls or text messages promptly. We felt very fortunate to have selected him as our contractor. He genuinely cares about his customers and consistently goes the extra mile to make sure they are satisfied. Tony even accompanied our family when we went shopping for materials. He patiently helped us select everything from kitchen cabinets and shower panels to the bathroom vanity, toilets, vinyl flooring, interior doors, sliding glass doors, and floor tiles. He personally guided us toward quality choices and helped us take advantage of his contractor discounts, which saved us money. When the project was completed, our family was extremely happy with the results. The new ADU exceeded our expectations. We love everything about it--from the beautiful kitchen and backsplash to the bathrooms, flooring, doors, and painting. The finished unit is beautiful, comfortable, and functional, and we are very proud of our new rental property. Even more importantly, our tenants absolutely love the ADU. They enjoyed living there so much that they decided to extend their lease for another six months. They told us they never expected to find a brand-new rental that was so beautiful and comfortable. We would like to sincerely thank Tony and his entire team for all the hard work, care, professionalism, and personal attention they put into our project. If you are considering building an ADU or taking on a major construction project, we would not hesitate to recommend Tony Tran Construction. We are very happy that we chose Tony, and we would gladly work with him again. Thank you very much, Tony, for everything you and your team did for our family. Sincerely, Thomas & Marie, David & Jennifer
