I asked Bruce to come back to my house for a problem where the water will not drain from the kitchen sink- on new year's day evening! Gave Bruce a call and to my surprise Bruce cheerfully told me he'll come over in about 20 minutes. Bruce inspected everything carefully and quickly determined the clogged pipe is not under the sink, he didnt stop there. He took me outside and showed me where the access point to the "main line" is.. then proceed to drain the standing water from that access point and went ahead and tried something else, try to unclog with the garden hose on full force "I would try this on my own house if I have the same problem" Bruce said. Even though the garden hose approach was not successful, standing there in the cold and in the dark and water all around us, I cant tell you how grateful I am for Bruce giving his best try. And get this, Bruce said he can not take my money for a problem he can not fix and advised me to get rooter services. This review is long overdue. For all my real estate clients, I always recommended Bruce - And they were always extremely pleased. This was the past 8+ years and the irony was that I hadn't had the opportunity for him to on my personal property until the last 2 years. Didn't have a reason until then since we're pretty handy ourselves. He's VERY responsive, reasonable and very adept. He helped get my house ready for sale with a long punch list from a demanding buyer. Then at my new house, I had him put in the new water heater. He's very honest about what he can and cannot do. After Bruce put in a new fill valve, the problem was fixed! I've also hired him to remove and replace our kitchen faucet. It took him just a couple of hours to do the job. It was awesome. Bruce at HomeHandyworks has done several projects for me over the last two years. I can tell he really enjoys his work. I've learned a lot by talking with him. He's willing to tell how things are done, and let the customer be involved in planning. Most recently, he put up a shed in the backyard, first making the wooden base. Very nice job, done in a single day while I was at work. Last summer, he painted the trim of the house. Since the trim is a different color than the rest of our exterior, this was careful work. He also painted our interior hallway. He's a talented painter with excellent attention to detail. He installed wall-plates, for network and TV-cable connections within the house. (Before I just had wires coming out of the carpet.) This involved pulling out the floor board and cutting drywall to install the wall plate. He renovated a weathered outside door, by gluing a thin piece of wood to it, and he installed drywall in the garage, where no drywall was before. Bruce regularly arrived ~10AM, finishing by ~5 or 6. I noticed he sets goals for himself, and takes pains to meet them by the day's end. I highly recommend him, for the most challenging projects. read more

Bruce came out to install a bathroom vanity/sink, toilet and custom blinds throughout the house. His work is impeccable and efficient. I left the house for about 30-45 mins, came back and the blinds were done! I will definitely be calling on Bruce again in the future. Bruce was on time for the first appointment and was friendly and finished a bunch of work for us. Then he disappeared... with our screens... because he was trying to fix them. It took many texts and many days until we were able to track him down. He finally came back to reinstall the fixed screens and fix a couple of other things... then he was close to impossible to track down after that. We would text him, he would tell us he was going to show up on X day, and never show up. We were managing a ton of contractors and also felt like we had to put a lot of effort into getting Bruce pinned down. If you are going to work with him, make sure you are very specific about what you need, and the priority. He may end up fixing some additional stuff you didn't ask for. That may be great, but it incurs additional costs and if you have other priorities, you might not be able to track him down for the more important stuff. He seems to work on a "floating" schedule and catches sleep in between jobs, so if you're not in a hurry and don't need a commitment, you should be ok. He told us he could do electrical/plumbing, but he never showed up to get to it. He did the easy stuff first, then disappeared for days. He also made Home Depot runs to buy supplies but we found out later that the supplies he bought were the wrong items. If you do have him do Home Depot runs, make sure you get the receipt so you can return the items if they are wrong afterwards. Overall, a very frustrating and time consuming experience working with Bruce, and we are so glad we found a better handyman that's a bit more punctual and on the ball. read more

He was prompt, friendly, reasonably priced and did an excellent job installing drywall on my damaged ceiling. He also let me watch and assist him at the same time so I could learn what he was doing. I had a cracked 4" sewer line that had been leaking and collapsed the drywall ceiling in my garage. Bruce was fast, friendly, and did excellent work. He installed a range hood, readjusted the space under the counter to slide my new dishwasher into place, installed 4 new electrical outlets, inspected several more electrical outlets and switches, and fixed an incorrect wiring installation on my garage switch and garage door opener (that I had not noticed that turned out to be a REAL safety issue)...Whew! My husband and I are very pleased with Bruce's work. He came in and took care of some odd jobs that we had around the house....most notably our dishwasher plumbing and a leaky, moldy shower. The shower was in our master bathroom, and so loud that our sleep was disturbed. It's so peaceful now! And our dishwasher doesn't leave food deposits from our disposal anymore. This is probably the 3rd or 4th time I've had Bruce take care of the "punch list" of things I need done at my townhouse. First off, Bruce schedules appointments by either email or phone, so you're not always chasing him to get a callback. And then he actually arrives on time, which is unheard of! He completed everything I had on my list and when I mentioned my wireless router wasn't working well and I wanted to stream Netflix on my Wii, he sat down and we got that all squared away as well.
