Had some issues with a front door install - not my specialty. Kevin came out and quickly diagnosed the problem. Due to the fact that I'm remodeling the interior of the home in a few months, we chose to do a temporary fix based on a permanent solution. As usual when looking for a local service, I came to Yelp first. I reached out to 5 handyman services. It's a sad state of affairs but only 2 actually got back to me. Kevin was the first back with an email and we arranged a view and estimate the next day. Kevin called letting me know when he would be in town. He turned up on time and gave a very fair estimate on what I wanted doing (cutting a hole in an exterior wall to fit an oversized dog door into) I am rarely home so I gave Kevin house keys so he could do the job while I was away. It kind of says something when you are willing to give someone you've just met the keys to your house, but thats just the good feeling you get from the guy. Kevin did the job when he said he would, and called me once he was done to report back. Although there were potential risks that the outside stucco would chip and need patched up after, and that I would need some inside drywall replaced, Kevins work was so clean neither of these things came to pass, so really I couldn't be happier. I originally called Kevin to install a sliding barn door and unfortunately I didn't have the space for it and he ended up installing an accordion door. This doesn't capture the fact that the discussion of what I might need and what would work and what cost the least in material and labor occurred over a couple weeks with Kevin always being patient with me, suggesting the least expensive option, texting me pictures of a option. I had him come out and measure but failed to communicate the correct area to my husband and so poor Kevin came out for nothing to measure the wrong doorframe. I was able to arrange to have Kevin come over within a week. He was prompt and finished several tasks for me. Kevin is really a fantastic handyman. Very knowledgeable, patient, and absolutely wants to make sure the job is done right the first time. I had him come to our house to hang some curtains in the living room and Kevin alerted me that the hardware wasn't correct and that he was concerned that it would fall. I've contacted Kevin a few times over the past year. He always promptly responds to my emails and phone calls. Today he finished the closet insert my hubby started a year ago. Kevin told me last year it would be about an 8 hour job. All product reviews said a 2 hour job. Kevin was right! It took my husband 8 hours! (building drawers, cutting metal, ect.) I had to order more shelving and my husband never got around to finishing the job. Kevin finished today in 1.5 hours as he predicted. He also hung a huge, heavy, wood mirror in a matter of minutes. I called Kevin at KB as recommended here and was asked to send text of the job, also sent a picture of the built-in needed to be removed and hauled away. After 4 days he replied that he could not help me with the job. Job was to remove a built-in cabinet, paint 3 walls and run low voltage speaker wire through a wall and add two Bose Speaker mounts to said wall. his sites posts: "KB Handyman Services specializes in small/minor property repair work that is categorized as being "too small a job for General Contractor, Plumber, Electrician, or Painter". We are often involved in tasks that are "left over" after the completion of a major remodel/renovation or major repair job." Site also quotes: " There is no job too small and there is no list too long for KB Handyman Services" and... " Pretty much anything on your 'Honey-do' list."
