Unfortunately, after we expressed our concerns, Kate's attitude toward us came across as rude and dismissive, which only added to the frustration. Thankfully, Amber stepped in and completely changed the tone of the experience. She was attentive, kind, and genuinely seemed concerned about making things right. She asked us to give Noble Roots another chance, and because of how well she handled the situation, we will. Hopefully, our next visit will be a much better reflection of what Noble Roots has to offer.

We were looking for something…read morecasual but filling for dinner and because we had not tried out this place yet but had driven by several times, we decided to check it out. Definitely a great decision on a hunch. This is an all you can eat hot pot concept and frankly my first time attending this version. While I have visited hibachi restaurants in the past, this is not that. Basically this is a dual table side prep concept where you can either make your own custom soups and broths, and hot pot seafood or you can select the grill and grill of a variety of fresh meats and fish and vegetables, or you can get both. Both come with a small dessert bar and seem to be accompanied with the additional Fresh salad and sauce bar, although I'm not quite sure if one of those may have been restricted if you did the grill only or the hot pot only. Pricing is pretty fair at about $30 a person which rises to mid 30s if you decide to get both options. We went with the combo because we had never tried this concept before, but in the future, I may lean more towards the grill option only. Especially if I'm not in the mood for hot pot or soup. But I definitely enjoyed the combination choice for our first visit. The meat and vegetable selections at this restaurant are pretty vast and this is after the server first sets you up and allows you to pick from several different types of broth for your hot pot. In addition, they have a sauce bar that must've had 20+ sauces available to choose from. I think one of the most overwhelming aspects of this concept is lack of familiarity with the right combinations of hot pot and grilled options. For this we leaned heavily on our server and she did a great job of guiding us through a couple of her favorite combinations, as well as some of the favorite combinations of other patrons. This was really helpful because there isn't a menu or chart to help you unlock all of the really cool combinations that you can put together including Ramen udon and Thai soup varieties. All of the ingredients you need to make any of those dishes, but in your own customize version, are here to your heart's desire. Service is really good as they do switch out the grills rather rapidly as they will get charred and start to burn and smoke after three or four rounds of fresh meats and veggies slapped on them. However, they do not switch out your broth choice so once you make your choice, that's what you're rolling with for the rest of the dinner. All in all we were really satisfied with the freshness and the preparation of most of the ingredients and sauces. I did think the dessert bar was a little weak given the multitude of options elsewhere, but I also understand that this is consistent with the cultural preferences, which don't skew as heavy on traditional sweets, like American taste do. All in all this is definitely a treat for those looking for a great date night or just looking to take the family out for a really engaging and tasty cook at your table experience - all you can eat style!

I can't possibly detail everything so I'll just go ahead and list it off. What qualifies me saying the things I'm about to? I worked in this abomination of a buffet and saw what you DON'T SEE. 1. Outdated safety sheets and employee safety & knowledge sheets everywhere. As a former EMT and combat medic, it's been my job to make sure first responders know that they can respond effectively and stay up to date. The owners dropped the ball on this big time. What if an infant were to choke? Would the sheet beside the walk out door be able to coach the unknowing server through dislodging a chicken bone? Probably not effectively. 2. Mold. Everywhere. The drinks you get with ice? Mold in the ice machine. And the pipe leading to the sink RIGHT NEXT TO THAT ICE MACHINE? Busted and leaking everywhere. And COATED in grime. It's absolutely horrific. While there I found fruit OUT ON THE BUFFET covered in mold. When brought up to management, I was told to PUT IT BACK. (Don't worry though, I trashed it and "wasted product") 3. Zero care for clean dishes. If only you could walk back and see their "clean" dish rack.... The amount of leftover foods, grease, the film all over every single prep dish... I wouldn't serve anything off any of that to my worst enemy. 4. Zero empathy. Management is absolutely disgusting to staff. And hides it with a smile. Your kid needs to get to the ER, time now? Too bad. They will take your pay for the day you worked. You need to make sure your daughter is okay after having a major anxiety attack? You have the same option. And you can't call her to make sure she's good. But the same manager that said that you can't call will whip out a phone and bullsh*t on the clock. 5. Mold on & in FOOD STORAGE. Ever seen kitchen nightmares with Gordon Ramsay? If not, go check that out. They are just as bad as what they are allowed to depict on that show. Honestly... This place could be its own riveting episode on Kitchen Nightmares... I worked there only two shifts. And the ONLY reason I came back the second time was because I had hope that because they seemed understaffed, the place had been let go to hell and they would be back together by the time I came back. (It was WEEKS to MONTHS before I came back. They had time to get their minds right.) I'm not some disgruntled employee that got fired, I work freelance. I have no obligation to anybody but my own morals. And my morals just won't allow me to see such filth and not speak up. If you value your overall health, NEVER EAT HERE! read more

There are times in your life where the food is just so bad you have to write about it. This was one of those times the food was absolutely disgusting and an edible. I went in looked at the book at the bar thought this would be okay for a fast meal, boy could I have not have been more wrong. I will end up getting the buffet and threw a piece of chicken on it a piece of turkey and gravy and what you look like Salisbury steak. After a bite of the Salisbury steak I wouldn't even give it to my dog the chicken was absolutely disgusting the sliced turkey the only problem that the gravy was pretty good. But for $10 I really expect a little bit more quality. Ok a whole lot more quality. I literally laughed after that and hop back on I 95. Inmediately I started feeling sick and had to swallow down some acidophilus and some tums. Thank God I only had a few bites of that food cuz if I had more I would have been on the sidewalk throwing up. Never again never recommend. read more

For now, let's say we are at 4 3/4 stars and I am sure as time goes on that 5th star will be completely shaded in by my next visit. Now my review... Kim's Place is probably not exactly what you are imaging it is, but if you thought it was a noodle take out place you would be wrong. Kim's Place is some of THE BEST southern soul food prepared by those talented melanin hands that we all know as "family." When I walked inside the restaurant, I was given a very friendly and verbal embrace to welcome me. I was pleasantly surprised to see all the vibrant colors, African artwork, and African American world leaders on the wall. There was a lovely tribute to the eatery's namesake as a permanent nod to her influence shining down from heaven. Over in the corner is a full service bar that beckons you to come and choose your libations. Since it was my first time in the space, I wanted to take it all in. There was a musical charge that was in the energy not just from the speakers, but also from the vibes of the place. It felt like a spot to gather with your friends and family to sit down and eat, socialize, and then talk trash over a board game, spades, or uno. I decided to make my order for two. One plate was the chitterlings or "chitlins" dinner that comes with white rice and one side [fried okra] and the yams, and the other plate was the seafood dinner which was whiting, shrimp, and crab rice. I also had yams and greens which surprisingly are not cooked in pork which is a YAY for me. I also ordered the banana pudding and the red velvet cake. Here are the food review highlights. The food portions were huge. You definitely would not go hungry. I heard the chitlins were absolutely phenomenal. The fish, shrimp, and okra were fried nice and firm which is what I love. The greens and yams were also pretty good too. The greens do have their stems with them, so if you are picky about that then you may opt for something else. The crab rice could have used a little more crab because it was hard tell if it was in there even though it had plenty seasonings and flavors. It was good, so do not opt out if that is what you want. The desserts we ordered could also use slight adjustments as well. For example, the banana pudding was too sweet to the point it was headachy sweet, but the flavor had all the components to be good. The red velvet cake was not too sweet, but the cake part was a little dense. Again, not bad in flavor though. Overall, I would say Kim's Place will be on repeat when I want a full home cooked meal without cooking it and a place where I can take my friends to eat and drink. Look for it on the corner of MLK and Gwinnett streets in the grey building that house a few businesses with Kim's Place in the center. I would highly recommend several visits to Kim's Place.

Joshua, the waiter asked us if we wanted a knife, we said yes like it was no problem. When we got the bill, he added $20 to the bill for bringing in a cake and borrowing the knife. They also added 20 percent to each bill for a large group. It is usually 18 percent for large groups. When it was time for the checks. The waiters did not bring the bills to the table. You had to go to the bar to get the bill yourself. I went to the bar and told Joshua what I had, he preceded to tell me how much my bill would be. I asked him to please print the bill out for me. I held out my hand to get the bill from his hands. He slammed the bill on the countertop. I immediately asked him if that's the way he gives bills to his customers. He said, "oh no, I'm sorry. I'm just trying to print the bills." He picked up the bill and put it in my hand. That was awful! The manager/bartender was also rude as well. I definitely won't go back. I ordered a ton of food that just isn't good back up there. I ordered a 3 item seafood platter, a piece of fried chicken, and some good ol' crab stew. For the platter, it included: scallops, flounder, and shrimp. It also has sides, which I got green beans, fries, and hush puppies. What knocked off a star, was the flounder was too thin, but still tasted pretty good. The crab stew was thick and rich, and the fried chicken was seasoned, and fried to perfection. Our waitress was very friendly and provided good service. The restaurant was clean, but is dated. It was good having a taste of home again. You don't know what you have, until you know longer have it. lol. It's great this place for locals hasn't became a tourist trap like many others.

Still quite busy and that was good because the steam tables were loaded up with plenty of options and variety. I was able to put together a couple of good plates that were mostly protein and avoided the battered and the heavy sauces. The sushi display is a nice variety that was tasty and fresh. I did not try the hibachi - maybe I'll do that next time. Prices are clearly marked and I've posted a picture of the board. The restaurant was reasonably clean.
