Unless you purchase their products, don't waste your time with this place trying to get service. I went in to have my blade sharpened and they refused to even loosen the bolt because of liability reasons. REALLY!!!! I used to service my mowers at their old location, but I am giving people a heads up so you don't waste your time or gas getting to this place. My grandfather, is a retired lumber jack. He loves to look around at chainsaws and things that run his memory. The Mexican American fellow happened to be extremely rude to him after expressing he didn't want us there killing time and walking around. Asking "can I help you with anything" after replying with "just looking around" he proceeds to tell us "yeah just like the last 4 times you've been here" like I didn't know you couldn't walk around and take a look. I just wanted to share my experience with a supposedly a 4.5 star place. Doesn't seem like they appreciate the rating. Thanks for reading. The guys that work there and the gal are super knowledgeable and nice but the owner needs to be humble(d). I'll walk in and spend $5000 in store and the owner is plain rude before I buy. The only thing he is interested in is to sell you high priced accessories (probably on commission). An essential part came off my mobility scooter lift. I called Marty at Poway Mower & Engine in Poway to see if they knew anyone that could weld the part back on. He said they could do it. I drove drove there right away and they were able to weld the part back on. As a bonus, they adjusted the level of the lift also. The work appeared to be high quality with attention to detail. I dropped off a Generator that I bought at Costco for nearly $800 in October of 2023 because I didn't realize you can't store gas in the tank or it will gum up the carburetor. Initially I was told that it would take about a week to fix. Then I was told that the carburetor was so gummed up that it had to be replaced and they need to order the carburetor. About 3 months later I called them to ask what's going on and they told me that they accidentally ordered the wrong carburetor. Another 2 months later they told me that the technician that was working on it quit and didn't give me paperwork to the new tech. I was emailing an employee but soon he stopped responding to my requests. I have requested to speak to the manager multiple times and he is either never there or refuses to return my calls. This company never calls me and now it will be 1 year next month. Completely unprofessional with no accountability! There are much better companies out there!!! Do not do business with this establishment. read more

This past Saturday, April 4, 2020, Western Mower was the only shop open nearest to Escondido. I went in seeking a durable, heavy duty weed whacker, suitable to handle my weed whacking on our property in Valley Center. Ricky clearly showed me the options available, and the benefit to spend $30 more for the unit I ultimately purchased, an Echo that had the engine power to handle the .105 trimmer line. He knew his products, listened to my questions, and gave me good information to help my decision. I brought the unit home and put it right to work. It handled everything I put it through. Heavy weeds and grasses, good balance, lots of power and no "give up". It powered right through. I got a lot done this weekend simply by getting the right upgraded weed whacker. Western Mower did good work but they quoted me 7 - 10 days and it took 26 days for a mower tune-up (with no parts needed) after I called them every week after the first week. When I asked about the delay the guy just looked at me. No apology, no discount. I'll look elsewhere for repair or purchase next time. read more

I've been going to Western for about six years and never had a ptoblem. I've purchased a Echo Blower, Weed Wacker & a Hedge trimmer. They had the best prices and recommendations, far better then Home Depot and other independent small equipment dealers Today I needed a tune up kit for my blower for a miner tune up I was doing my self. Picked up a spark plug , fuel filter which I never even knew it had until they told me. Also picked up some Echo power blend oil for the gas tank.....everything out the door was $19.60......my own labor, and its simple and easy. Just a little bit of up sale on some alternative gasoline products and fuel stabilizer but not that pushy at all. I guess they wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't at least try to sell some other products based on my needs. ..no issues with this...... I might mention they have a hugh selection of ECHO power equipment, I didn't check prices today because I was there for tune up parts, but five or six years ago I purchased all my ECHO equipment from them because of price, location and one on one personal service......I also used them for some minor tune ups on a lawn mower years ago, reasonable pricing and not a long wait, they did a good job! ECHO BRAND IN MY OPINION IS WORTH PAYING EXTRA FOR LONGEVITY. USING A COMMERCIAL GRADE BLOWER, WEED WACKER OR HEDGE TRIMMER FOR RESIDENTIAL USE IS WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD.....THEY LAST 3 TIMES LONGER THEN OTHER BRANDS........IN THE LONG RUN YOU SAVE MONEY AND GRIEF.........BOTTOM LINE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I went in to wesern mowers just to get some information. I have a briggs and Stratton vanguard v twin 16 hp engine. I perform most of the maintenance my self. But my engine has no model number affixed to it. So finding the right parts is difficult. In spite of the fact that i was not a paying customer. They went out of their way to help me. I came here because I needed a new line trimmer head for my Honda HHT35. I was helped upon walking through the door by a clean cut, young Hispanic man who knew his stuff(if I knew his name I'd list it, but I only know remember what he looks like). He helped me choose a husqavarna head for my Honda. I wasn't sure which head to buy because I had lost the factory Honda head(which sucked and he was in agreement). I didn't know I could use different heads as long as they were the same diameter. He showed me how to install the head, and put line on it. The head has been outstanding and given me many hours of faithful service. I have a new love for my machine! I was an amateur before I came in here and now that employee has made me feel like a pro. I've been happily trimming away for weeks now. I'm really satisfied with my experiences here. I was going to buy my Honda line trimmer from here, but they didn't have it in stock and I needed it that day. I bought it from another place because they had it on hand. At the end of the spring, I'll be dropping off my Honda and walk behind cub cadet for service. I love that they sell Honda products because they're a premium product. read more

My plate compactor sat outside for a few months and the gas had gone bad and wouldn't start. Machine also needed a new throttle cable and pull start handle. I was working hard and didn't want to do the work myself and chase parts. My instructions were to drain gas / clean tank and replace parts. I got a call from the owner and he reported it needed a new gas tank and carburetor. When I took it in, the mechanic told me it needed a new gas tank w. superficial rust on the outside but no rust or corrosion on the inside. Not wanting to spend $200. I picked it up and brought it home. I was dumbfounded to find the same old gas in the tank. ALL THEY DID WAS REPLACE THE PULL START HANDLE. I set to work and removed tank, cleaned and refilled w/ fresh gas, the machine fired right up !! Reported my experience to owner and he said "there's a right way and a wrong way of doing things." Yea.... I get it! Charge for unnecessary parts and labor and ignore customer request. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND ENERGY AND THE $30 THEY CHARGED ME!! read more

Took my 20 year old Snapper lawn mower in for it's first service. Why rush ? Jon at the front desk was fabulous in his care of the customer ahead of me and was very interested in my machine's story. He and his shop man asked questions and figured out right away why the mower was running so poorly. Complete service (new plug, air filter, oil, blade sharpening and balance, minor adjustments, new cable that had stretched, etc. for $83). They called and I picked it up in 2 days. I Purchased a Toro Self Propelled Lawn Mower from Marty. All I can say is Service was Top Notch. They put Oil and Gas into the Lawn Mower. They Demonstrated that it Worked and Explained the Operation of the Lawn Mower. Then they helped me put the Lawn Mower into the back of my truck. Marty further went onto explain not to use Gas Station gas in the Lawn Mower as it clogs up the Fuel System. Always use canned ethanol free gas that you can get from him or most places that sell gas powered equipment. They sell Toro/Honda/Stihl/Echo both Commercial and Residential.
