During the interview process I quickly realized Norman's intent was to understand the tone we wanted to set for our wedding day, he wanted to know about my fiancé and asked if he could drop off a binder to me to review before I made my decision. Wow! Very impressive binder I must say. To gather songs selections for important moments, record our love story and review the "binder" which had all the information from our venue to questions about each person in our wedding party. Later he would use this to create the most funniest bridal party entrances, not to mention all the proper pronunciations of some hard names. He worked closely with our wedding coordinator on our timeline she shared with him to keep our guests informed and the ceremony/reception running smoothly and on time. He took command of the room, read the crowd for the right music selection, got the party started and ROCKED the house. My fiancé and I had zero dance experience, so he was patient and kind when giving us feedback on how to improve. He also likes to crack jokes and make quirky analogies to make the experience fun and engaging! We're so excited to perform our First Dance at our wedding, thanks to him. We only did 5 lessons with him, but we learned so much! He's super easy to talk to, and he responds quickly over email and text. I highly recommend him if you're unsure if it's worth taking dance lessons versus learning yourself through video clips on YouTube. Having a person to actually show you where your limbs and back should be helped us form the proper muscle memory to have an elegant dance, and I don't think we'd be as smooth if we only watched videos online. Since he's a gym coach on the side, Will also gave us great exercising tips! My fiancé and I are motivated to exercise more regularly now because of these dance lessons, and we feel the difference in our shoulders, confidence, and energy. Will (and his wife--more on that in a bit!) single-handedly made this the most enjoyable part of wedding preparation. He brought an enthusiastic attitude and a genuine love for dance and just life in general to every dance lesson. Will is a rare gem these days: someone who radiates a sincere optimism and faith, and appropriately, inspires you to move. During our series of lessons he actually had to have his appendix removed, and instead of cancelling our lesson, he instructed while his wife took extra time after work (she is a doctor, but also a dancer!) to be our dance partner while he choreographed. Will and his family are an effortless inspiration to anyone and I my expectations were far exceeded. The best part is that after the dance lessons ended, when we practice our dance, it inevitably brings a smile to our face and lifts our mood. It's the closest thing to a miracle drug that exists, and Will and his wife are out there continuing to share that gift. In addition to the actual dancing part, Will was a great resource for wedding preparation in general: he consulted us on event timing, sequencing, how the bride should consider the parts of their dress with respect to the choreography, and even places to look for dancing shoes. The best part about Henry was that he was always extremely responsive, usually within a 1-2 day response. We could always rely on his assistance, which made us easily trust in him completely during the wedding day. When we started selecting our Ceremony songs, he invested his time into sharing us feedback on how long songs should be and how we should go about choosing songs, whether it was for the wedding party, groom, or the bride. Henry provided us with detailed questions to assist him during the full day event. Although it could seem intimidating to have questions presented to you, it ensured that we could fully trust that Henry knew what he was doing. We had absolutely zero concerns leading up to the wedding day. During our pre-wedding day walkthrough meeting, Henry was very considerate of all our requests and was very detail oriented. He offered to cut and edit songs to fit our Grand Entrance, Ceremony, and dance songs. Surprisingly, he even created our 2-minute first dance song by making small tweaks to the beginning and end so the song flowed smoother. Of course, the day of the wedding was an absolute miracle! Henry has the best way of hosting and exciting the crowd!!! He always kept to the timeline, checked in with our planner, and we felt very comfortable the entire day! We provided Henry with a 7 hour dance floor playlist ‍ and he used it so well! The dance floor was fully filled the entire night and he read the room and played all our favorite hits! The company's light rig system was also super cool and had tons of lights and even smoke He also offered to display uplighting around the perimeter of the room which added a lovely touch (lighting makes a huge difference!!!). Not only did the photos come out BEAUTIFULLY, he understood our needs and concerns with COVID and took all the necessary safety precautions. We all wore masks (besides my sister of course) and he stayed 6ft + away from all of us (I did all the closeup directing/posing). He spent 5+ hours with us (it was me, my sister and our cousin) and made sure we were happy with allllllll the shots while following us around 4 mini locations within the Consumnes River Reserve Park. Spending half your day with 3 giggly girls can be exhausting and Dan was as patient as ever. As you can see, Dan has THEE BEST creative eye and ALL THE PHOTOS CAME OUT OVER AND BEYOND our expectations. I was honestly so jealous that these came out so nice, it made me want to take grad photos I never had the chance to do (and I graduated from high school 9 years ago...) We booked Dan Phan Photography to shoot our Engagement and Wedding pictures earlier this year…read more(2014) and we could not be happier with the result! Though Dan is very quiet and soft spoken, he has a great way of directing the photoshoot, and capturing beautiful moments without being invasive. The most memorable thing about him, I think, is that none of our guests even knew who our photographer was - this is exactly what we wanted! he captured beautiful images - unposed, and natural. Guests didn't feel they had to stop enjoying the moment to capture a photo - and I have to say the end result was fantastic! Not only is Dan's work great, but he is quick and affordable. For the amount of edited images he delivered in less than 2 months after the wedding - we definitely knew we got a great deal! I hope to use Dan again to capture other momentous occasions in our future :)
