Good "down home" cooking. I was there with friends. One recommended the Walleye filets, as did the doing everything server! Comes with 2 sides for about $15. 3 very large and delicious, perfectly fried filets. I had coleslaw which was good. Also fried potatoes that were bland but filling. Sorry I only got a picture of my "to go" container that was about 1/2 of my total serving! They had lots of good looking pies to go... that I didn't try. Everything our table had was very good. Everything we saw being served looks great too! If you're in the area I have no hesitation about recommending here! PS: they have a small upcharge if paying with credit card. Also, if it's before 5 PM visit the Amish Market a couple of miles away (cash or check only).

Bruno's Spotted Hare is fantastic…read more I stopped by recently with a family member while visiting, having heard good initial things about this restaurant. The space is gorgeous; it has the dark coziness of a lodge with beautiful, wild-inspired accents. We were seated in a booth near the window: the booth was comfortable but may be a tight squeeze if two larger adults are sitting on the same side (I'd recommend asking for a table in that case). I started off with an American Trilogy cocktail and loved it; it was surprisingly smooth and easy to drink while being flavorful. We debated appetizer options but went with the sourdough bread and butters. The butters were rosemary, garlic, and sorghum, and while all were great, the sorghum was a favorite. The bread was flavorful and nicely chewy. I'm always happy to see a vegetarian-friendly soup on a menu, so I ordered the beans and greens soup and loved it. It has a very deep flavor, yet the beans weren't overly mushy. The server (who was amazing) recommended some Tabasco for adding heat, which I enjoyed. For entrées, my dining partner got the fried chicken on the server's recommendation, and I got the mushroom pasta. The fried chicken was described by my relative as a crunchy coating with a moist meat; they called it "the best fried chicken" they've had. I tasted the mashed potatoes and can happily vouch for them, as they were creamy and perfectly seasoned. My dining partner raved about the home-style green beans, too. My mushroom pasta was fantastic. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly and were flavorful without being slimy or mushy. The pasta was hearty and cooked al dente. As a pleasant surprise. I got a couple slices of bread with my pasta, too; this time topped with some cheese and seasoning. It was perfect for soaking up the last bits of pasta sauce, as I cleaned my plate. I got dessert to go; it was the cornmeal pound cake and packaged conveniently (with the ice cream separate). It was delicious even at home; the cake itself wasn't too sweet, meaning that the combination of it, the ice cream, and the honey had a perfect balance of flavor. I will try to make a special trip here whenever I'm in the area. It's a beautiful, special addition to the local dining scene.

It was delicious. Had the pickled onion rings for an appetizer. Having pickled onions really gave the dish a nice zing. For dinner I had the blackened fish tacos and roasted Brussel sprouts. Daughter had the chicken sandwich with fries. Everything was wonderful. Service was fast and friendly. The character of the place is really neat. Old library style bar with a metal ceiling. The men's room was the cleanest and most luxurious shitter I have been to in a long time!

It was around 4:30 and wasn't busy yet. I sat at the bar in front of the giant screen showing a golf tourney (don't mind at all). Derek was one amazing bartender. I had the Clockwork Orange cocktail that had coconut on the rim, with the Burrata starter. Perfection. I asked Derek about the Farmer's Salad and the Green Goddess Salad. One is more fruity and the other is green with peas. Both sounded delicious. I chose the Farmer's with added salmon. I'll get the Goddess next time. I added a glass of the House Red, which is a light Cab. I loved my meal and my visit. It's very pretty and the service was excellent. Can't wait to return. I just read it was voted Best New Restaurant in 614's Best of 2026.
