Breakfast was great! Best home fries I've ever had. Sausage gravy was also excellent! Food came out fast and waitress kept my coffee full and they have actual coffee mugs instead of those little ones where you need a bunch of refills. We went by Peebles and decided to stop for breakfast here. It was comfortable inside. The servers were very nice and got us some hot coffee right away. I think I got the White Star Special or something like it. It was a good breakfast. Just a nice ole hometown place to eat. read more

Maybe I was having a bad day, but I was really disappointed with my service and food at this cute diner. When we walked in there was nothing stating to seat yourself or wait for a server/hostess, so we just kind of stood there in the middle of the way until we could ask someone. The menu included breakfast but no indication on when service ended so I was set on a breakfast dish only to be told it was too late. I opted for a turkey club sandwich and sweet potato fries. The sandwich was supposed to be on Texas toast, but came on white toast and the turkey was ok. Sweet potato fries were wonderful. Our server wasn't very welcoming and made us feel rushed even though it wasn't extremely busy. My husband even commented none of the service staff seemed happy to be there. Again, maybe it was me and an off day but I expected more based on the reviews. read more

Four of us were not able to receive what we wanted due to the unavailability of the food. The food that was received was just ok. When I tried to stand up to leave, I was stuck to the chair. A quaint small town diner super clean, The wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable, which makes your decision easier. It's a good size menu breakfast, lunch, dinner, hot shots and specialty sandwiches with great desserts. This use to be The White Star it was an Icon in Peebles, Abby was a waitress there so when it became available she took it over and elevated it. Our meals were very good. read more

Always enjoy "Mom & Pop" type places. Abby's is a main reason why. We were here on a Tuesday morning. Place was a 1/3 to 1/2 full. One waitress; but the service was prompt, and our food got to us quickly. Portions were perfect, taste was right up there, too. Would return if passing this way again. read more

Stopped here for a late Breakfast while driving from Indiana to Virginia. Clean and comfortable with plenty of tables and booths. Even at 10am on a weekday several regulars walked in and were greeted by name. The menu is several pages of sandwiches, omelets, breakfast, and entrees plus an insert with specials. We noticed a few items were named after friends of the restaurant. Husband had Gary's breakfast (scrambled eggs with a full order of B&G) with a side of bacon and I had Joe's BLT (BLT with egg and cheese) with a side of home fries. Egg was cooked perfectly. Everything was cooked perfectly, actually. Coffee, nice and hot, served in good sized mugs. Mugs had logos of local businesses and I really loved the look of it. Service was quick and efficient. We were in and out in no time and felt waaay better than having had fast food. My parents owned a place like this when I was growing up and it's good, honest home style food made and served by some really nice folks. Definitely a nice change of pace from the usual drive-thru fare when on a long drive. Only 3 minutes from route 32. read more

White Star has everything you would want in a small-town USA main street restaurant. It's a much better value than fast-food franchises because it has to be. Prompt table service, generous portions, daily specials of all-American comfort food. I particularly like Bobbie's meat loaf with gravy and mashed potatoes. The western omelet is a true bargain for breakfast, with generous chunks of bacon and crunchy peppers. I've never had to wait long for my food; service is swift. They're always ready with a refill of your coffee or cold drink. Whether you're a "regular" or just passing through Peebles, this is where you want to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. Stopped here for lunch after visiting the Serpent Mounds. We both had sandwiches (club and blt) and sweet potato fries and waffle fries- we've never has crisper fries. Make sure you try their homemade desserts- the hummingbird cake was amazing! read more

We often stop here on our way out 32. Not only is the food reliably good, but the place is authentic: it's not a diner schtick, it's an actual diner. And the proprietors have gone to a bit of trouble to make it pleasant inside: picked a pretty paint color, purchased real wooden chairs and tables, and added knicknacks they didn't buy from a pickers service. Cruising through Adam County, Ohio on old State Route 32 when we can across the White Star on Sunday morning. A little cautious about the quality of food and cleanliness as a first time diner. Promptly greeted and offered to sit wherever, there was shot 5 other tables in use. The menu offer many breakfast, lunch and dinner. I got eggs, sausage, had fresh cut home fries (I watch as she cut them-lol), my wife had the cheese bacon omelette; both tasted great, more than enough for us. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was very clean and country-fied. Will be back soon - well worth the drive. Big Bang for the buck read more

White Star is a very nice restaurant in Peebles. The food isn't the best (or, from what I've tried), but it is very cheap. I tried their large French toast, it was 4 pieces of French toast cut in half (8 half pieces of bread). That was $3.50!! I also got coffee to go with it, it was unlimited coffee, unlimited creamer and sugar, and it was only .75. The restaurant itself wasn't as nice looking as it could have been, but it wasn't terrible. The staff were pretty nice, but they didn't stop by too often to see if everything was okay. The food was also served pretty quickly, the wait was probably less than 5 minutes. read more

We have made a promise never to stop at another fast food restaurant on a road trip. This has been harder than we anticipated. We stopped here on a trip back from Virginia. Limited options in the area so took a chance and very happy we did. This is a quaint little diner, but we went on a Sunday just after church had let out. It was packed. Service was very fast considering how busy they were and everyone was happy and polite. The food was satisfying and there were no complaints. Would come again. read more
