Best priced diner breakfast/lunch in town. Old school feel inside, local owner and the staff are amazing. They are always busy and they hustle inside to get your order taken care of. In a year of prices skyrocketing, this place did not move much on pricing. I always throw the server extra money because I see a lot of tables (coffee drinkers) leaving a coin tip. These employees work hard and unfortunately get taken advantage of by some people who suck at tipping. Hands down this is a hidden gem in Hillsboro. read more

Travel back to the 50's with the best biscuits and gravy! This place has a cozy as heck interior and very slick retro exterior. The staff was super welcoming and quick to get our order and food out. I was greeted upon entering and told ti seat myself. I decided to sit in a booth. Very nice country music playing at a comfortable level. Nice. Breakfast is served all day. I arrived at 1:45pm. They close at 3pm. Fridays they stay open till 8pm. Fridays offer ALL YOU CAN EAT FISH. Summers bring Cruise In nights. That should be fun. The atmosphere takes you back to a diner from the 60s. Food is very reasonably priced. Free Wi-Fi. I ordered the: 62 Classic Breakfast "The Best In Town". $5.99 That is a large pancake, 3 strips of bacon and 2 eggs. Total deliciousness. I ate there for the first time. Sandwich was great! The homemade peanut butter cake was sooooo good! Some of the best cake I've tasted. But, what would really up this old school cafe/diner is have fresh cut fries instead of the frozen ones. I'm pretty sure the onion rings are frozen too. We saw this restaurant when we arrived in Hillsboro Friday evening (9/30/22) but it was closed for the night. So we all decided (7 of us) that we would go there Saturday morning for breakfast instead of having the breakfast offered at the hotel we were staying at. So glad we did. Great menu selections, very friendly staff very good prices & very good food. 7 of us ate for about $70.00 + tip and none of us left feeling hungry. Would highly recommend. Next time I'm in Hillsboro I want to try having lunch there so I can try one of their burgers. read more

Chrome, chrome, everywhere, cherry-red counter stools, checkerboard squares. The total 1950s small town diner. Bustling, cheerful, attentive waitresses, and friendly regulars happy to share some small talk. We took about a 2 mile detour off our route to eat here, and yes it was worth it. What a fun place! The atmosphere is bright and shiny. The place is eat-off-the-floor clean, the decor is kitschy homage to the 50s (or, possibly to our perception of the 50s) without overdoing it. Although it's prefab, somehow it works. Other than people's clothing, you really feel like you stepped through a time tunnel. I do not recommend for a group exceeding four. It's a small diner and obviously very popular with the locals, so prepare for the possibility of a wait for seating even for two. We came about 11:30 on a Sunday, kind of post-breakfast/pre-lunchtime, and the place was easily 2/3 occupied. Seating is either booth or the counter (which was very comfy by the way, good backs on the stools AND the all-important footrest). Prepare also for a longer than expected wait for your food. There's one cook on duty and everything is made fresh to order; no pre made heap of home fries sitting under a heat lamp here. That's the trade off, and i was glad of it in the end. There were enough waitresses & bussers to go around, and the waitstaff were very friendly and attentive, on the spot with coffee refills. The food? Excellent quality and quantity, and great prices. There was a breakfast special for seven bucks of 2 eggs your way, potatoes, toast and a slab of PRIME RIB, ok? My husband got this. The meat portion was about what you'd expect for a $20 dinner, done absolutely perfect, grilled to ideal medium. I wanted a smaller meal, so for $5.50 I had sausage links with 2 eggs and "one" pancake, which was about six inches in diameter and a half inch thick! Unlimited cuppa coffee only $1.25. Needless to say we were more than satisfied with the meal. We observed burger platters and other dishes going by (since we'd opted to sit at the counter) and everything looked so, so good. If you're passing though this area with a breakfast or lunch stop planned, make sure this is the place you stop. You'll be glad you did. Relax and chat for a bit then enjoy some good and hearty home style fare, well worth the wait! read more

Stopped by again after our first visit 13 years ago. Atmosphere is pretty nice. Very retro! Menu is decent and what you would expect from a diner. Daily specials and Ice Cream I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Pizza Sandwich and seasoned fries. The food was very good. Only issue was I felt as if the portion size was small for the price. We ended up there right at lunch time. They appeared to have a skeleton staff. Our waitress was taking orders -busing tables and checking people out. It took a bit to get our lunch, but it was worth the wait. It's a very interesting place and I recommend stopping for a visit (don't be in a hurry). I don't get to Hillsboro very often - but I'd like to try breakfast. read more

We discovered this little place about a year ago. It's a great 50's style diner with lots of chrome and curves. Scott, the owner, is great and when he has time, will wander and check on everyone & chat with you. All the servers are good kids- mostly high school & college and are friendly and nice. Food here is cooked to order, so expect a little wait. But it'll be hot and fresh. Every day there's s special and some are the same every week but others can change. Every Friday is all you can eat fish, which is very good. I've had their burgers and they're good, normal burgers- they do have quite a few specialty burgers. Their plan fries are ok, but the seasoned fries are very good- similar to Arby's curly fries. The slaw is ok, but I'm not a slaw lover. The side salad is good, but once I got a large salad with chicken and it really wasn't much bigger than the side salad- so I'll stick with the side salad. I've had the pork tenderloin dinner (when it's the special) and it's very good: comes with good mashed potatoes, bread and a veggie side. But where they really shine is the breakfasts! A lot of food for not a lot of money. Their potatoes are fresh cut skillet fried and very good! Eggs are always done the way I like: runny yolk. Biscuits & gravy is very good: the gravy is sausage gravy but very peppery. It's a little too spicy for me, but the flavor is so good I get it anyway. You can ask for it on mashed potatoes too. My husband likes the breakfast with pancakes, and gets it often. This has become a fairly regular and favorite place for us to eat out! The service was friendly, and while I was there some other diners were comped some food because it came out a little late. I had a cheeseburger and fries, and it was delicious. I live in Hillsboro, but this place is on the other side of town & they close by 3:00pm. I can't remember the last time I ate here. But, today's service was excellent & with the special, one kids meal, a drink, & before tip, it cost me $11.51 The kids meal tasted really good for chicken nuggets & corn.
