Jess did my son's haircut and she was warm and welcoming right away. We drove down from the Dalles yesterday to do some shopping and get a haircut. I like this shop, been there once before. Arrived at 2:00 (my appointment) got a haircut. Asked Mack to throw some product in it and run a comb through it as I'm on the road and we are going to dinner later. He says "no, i don't have time". I was confused. The barber next to us was confused and she asked Mack if he needed product. He said "no, I've just mismanaged my time and I'm behind." He had one client waiting who had just walked in ten minutes earlier. I was confused but paid, tipped and walked to my car. Checked the time at the car, it was 2:26. I have a pretty straightforward haircut, it takes all of 45 seconds to comb it with some pomade. I guess they don't have more than 25 minutes for a guy who drives 2.5 hours to come there and spent $40 after tip. Pretty unimpressed l guess I'll look elsewhere. Avoid Mack. Gruff, poor communicator, asked me to provide all the specifics and refused to work with me on what I wanted. Dumped the hair from the apron in my lap at the end, and didn't even brush the cut hair from my face. You seem to dislike your job, but don't make me do it for you. Had a poor experience with both communication and the cut. I asked for a men's cut, #2 clippers on the side, a little longer on top - not quite a military cut, but clean and professional. He acted confused, but we went ahead. After a first attempt, it looked long and stringy on top, just bad. I asked for it a bit shorter. Without a word, he took the clippers almost down to skin on the sides instead. I said no that I wanted it shorter on top since that's where I said it looked thin an weird. He decided to chastise me "clear details are good when you're at the barber." This from a guy who acted confused about a #2 clipper cut, didn't work with me at all on the communication, and generally demanded I provide all the technical details. That's your job. Also, when I walk in an introduce myself as your 9:30 appointment, don't tell me "oh, I don't have you here." Maybe try to recognize the booking system used my google alias, and put 2 and 2 together to figure out the person standing in front of you is that guy. Two strikes and you're out. First time I was in I was overcharged and lied to to my face. I asked the gal what the damage was (standard men's haircut) and she said $40 plus my $5 tip. Next time I went in I was charged appropriately but the guy that cut my hair (Mack I believe) was the driest personality I've ever encountered during a service of any kind. They are already seeing fewer clients because they have to completely sanitize their stations after every cut. They are doing it for our safety! Long gone are the days were the customer comes first. I've never experienced customer service as poor as that received from Lyndsay at this shop. First, I receive an email 15 minutes before my appointment saying my appointment has been canceled, no explanation, nothing. I decided to stop by to see what was up and there was Lyndsay with another customer. When I asked what happened with my appointment, she says she got a little behind and had to cancel my appointment. When I told her it wasn't cool to just cancel a customer's appointment and that had she called, we could have worked something out, I got a mouthful of attitude with her telling me "how do you expect me to call you when you when I'm with a customer?" followed by "I might be able to fit you in later but I have Christmas shopping to do so I doubt I will." Booked two back to back men's haircuts for 11am and 11:30am with Mack. Showed up a little early (10:30) and checked to see if he was available. He had nobody there but said he was waiting on an appointment. No big deal, we went to the bakery next door. Came back just before 11am, other person was still in his chair. Waited outside, no big deal. Such is life. At about 11:15, he pokes his head outside and calls for us. Sit down in his chair, he asks what I want. Simple fade, about finger length on top. He said next time book a technical appointment. I apologize. He then says next time, show up on time. I mention that we were there very early, 10:30, and he sent us away. I said we came back right before 11. He said no, that was not 10:30, show up on time and it makes it easier for me. Before he could touch my hair, we got up and walked out. This place treats their customers like a an wanted nuisance. It's rare i actually feel annoying as a customer but I've felt that way every time I've gotten my hair cut here but continue to come back because i like the work that the one gentlemen does. (Until now) But to be honest I don't think they actually enjoy cutting hair and after today i can say I've never been so insulted by a business in my life. I made an early morning appointment and used google maps to locate their location and drove across town to make it exactly in time. Upon arrival i realized that they had switched locations and the new location was 10 minutes away in a different area of town. I immediately called to let them know I'd be running 10 minutes late. They told me 10 minutes late was the MAXIMUM amount of time they allow and promptly and rudely told me my appointment would be canceled if i didn't make it by exactly 10 minutes. I showed up 11 minutes later and was given dirty looks and rudely told they would not cut my hair after telling them i only need a simple 5-10 minute trim up. In summary: THIS WAS PLACE HAS NOT DONE THE DUE DILIGENCE OF CHANGING THEIR ADDRESS ON THE INTERNET... AND THEN PUNISHES CUSTOMERS FOR IT.... I can only assume that all the customers who accidentally drive to the wrong location get their appointments canceled because the morons who operate this business are incapable of changing their address on the internet.... this company refuses to accommodate paying customers within completely reasonable time frames of their appointments. This isn't Hollywood this is Bend Oregon......
