I know plumbing is expensive, but this was ridiculous. Unfortunately I needed repair of washer/dryer valves. The plumber was well-rated ,friendly, and arrived quickly, which was the good part. The bad: He quoted us one price, but the price went up 40 percent when (as we told him we suspected from the beginning) that we had knocked loose a pipe joint less than 6 inches down. Needing running water and knowing the washing machine delivery was imminent, we paid $1200 total. He was here less than 2 hours. And despite my request, he didn't even put this trim plate back on. So I'm going to have to unhook the washer dryer to do that myself. Live and learn. I won't ever call these people again. read more

There's an old saying in plumbing - if you want something done right, don't do it yourself! The team at West Plumbing has continued to impress me as extremely knowledgeable, accessible, and professional. For anyone who's owned or lived in a home, you know that plumbing troubles are surely to sprout up here and there. West Plumbing has helped us navigate through both basic and complex issues. From something as simple as reconnecting a toilet handle to addressing a leaking upstairs pipe. They're great at diagnosing and explaining the problem, followed by fixing it and offering creative preventative ideas for the future. One time, our shower handle broke off mid-stream and the water wouldn't turn off. It was late at night, so I had to turn the water off to the whole house. We asked a good handyman friend to come by that night, but together couldn't figure out how to pull out the handle mechanism. So, we called West. They came out the next day and fixed it in less than 30 minutes. Voilá! Often for home repair, we'll work directly with our Home Warranty. The downside there is that you're at the mercy of whoever is contracted with that service, and the quality of the workmanship is inconsistent. While it can be cheaper to go through a warranty, or shop around on price, you run the risk of a poor job, or requiring several visits and second opinions. I had NO water pressure. I called West Plumbing and James answered. He was so nice and talked me down for a complete meltdown. We tried everything we knew, and physically do ourselves. Nothing we did worked. James told us he'd come out and give us an estimate (FREE, and on a holiday). He said he'd be here around 11:45. He was here at 10:00. He went and found the problem. It was $1,865. WOW! We sure weren't ready for that. James worked out a plan for us. WHO does that anymore. My husband and I are both on social security and we are both handicapped. I called to see what he charges to install a kitchen faucet. The last one I had installed in a rental property was $250 about 9 months ago. Online search says average is about $260 in my area. West plumbing wanted $750 to install it. A standard faucet and the old faucet had already been removed. It doesn't take more than an hour or so. James called. Set up an appointment for 3-6 PM that day to fix my toilet. Plumber (not James) arrived at 4ish. He was here 5 minutes, said my toilet either had a clog (which I knew obviously) or they'd need to bring in someone to send a camera down to see what the problem was because that's what happened on another job. THEN he told me he had to leave to pick up his girlfriend in Phoenix.......not doing the work but leaving me with a clogged toilet. He was not dressed like a plumber, didn't introduce himself, didn't offer any id, made another appointment, and left. I called another plumber and cancelled the appointment. We have a tight timeline for the various sub-contractors who are lined up to keep this downstairs renovation moving along.........and THEN we hit (literally) a big black pipe as we are cutting down what we thought was a decorative half wall....gulp Tile guy knows a "plumbing guy" - makes a call - bright and early next morning JAMES shows up with his trusty right hand man and an hour later we are back on schedule! Grossly overcharged for job. Was quoted for repair or cold water leak that would require work from attic. Turned out was leak at water softener and required rerouting of piping for about 20 feet. Paid $2500 for what was maybe a $1000. job. I developed a water leak 3 days before leaving town and listing the house for sale. Shame on them taking advantage of a situation for which I was under time constraints. Shame on me for not being more informed as to what was required. James and team helped with installing new handles and cartridges in our two bathrooms about a year ago. His responsiveness is astounding, and his prices were extremely competitive compared to the other bids I received. As this is a vacation property for us, it was critical that I was able to coordinate all the details with him remotely, give him access to the property, and arrive with the work finished. About a year later, the Mixet handle continued slipping causing the water to not shut off completely and making it impossible to adjust the water temperature (not due to any bad install by James' team but rather due to the Mixet design which we had to continue using because this was consistent with the original install). I came home from work and I had a puddle of water in my garage. It was coming from my water softener. I called my home warranty and they said they don't cover water softeners. BEWARE of these people. My elderly mother-in law lives in Chandler AZ and notice a small leak coming from her almost new water heater! I live in Salt Lake City, so its diffucult to know who you can trust....BUT KNOW THIS, THESE GUYS WILL CHARGE YOU WHATEVER THEY FEEL THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH. $850 TO REPLACE/REPAIR 2 WATER LINES! Andrew did a good job, but I think nearly $3,000 to re-pipe a kitchen sink drain and a washing machine drain, which are only two feet apart was outrageous. In addition, I'm left with a gaping three foot hole in my exterior block wall that they just covered with plywood. My regular maintenance guy (who was unfortunately unavailable) would never have left me with a huge hole in my wall and walked away, especially for that much money. read more

I am giving this company a poor review. My house was clogging due to the main and I called them on home advisor for an emergency and they left me clogged over night and came back the next day. They also charged me for removing the toilet and putting back the toilet when they never fixed it through the toilet. This company is crap. Once they supposedly cleared my drain, within 24 hours my house was back backing up. they do not know how to properly snake a drain and they over charge you for work that they cannot or did not do. I am having to call them back a 3rd time to fix what I paid for that they never fixed. This better be covered under warranty. I suggest you stay away from this company on any type of snaking. read more
