I ordered the halibut and recognized that perhaps it wasn't for me, but I ordered it it was my choice I wasn't going to send it back. Our waitress took note that I wasn't eating and told me that simply would not do and hustled to the kitchen to come out with the chicken dish, I was so appreciative of her noticing and accommodating this, truly, amazing service and that chicken was succulent beyond words! We also got 3 of the desserts, the seasonal eggnog bread pudding, the cinnamon raisin bread pudding which was insanely delicious as I personally am not a huge bread pudding fan but if every bread pudding was this? The lighting was contemporary, and kept brightening then dimming, repeatedly throughout the evening. There was little to no decor, I'm assuming that was removed to fit the volume of tables. The food was as delicious, as I had remembered. However, my husband ordered the ribeye, and was told they were out of steak, but that the pork chop was a delicious second choice. Sorry...a pork chop is not comparable to a steak. An appetizer we chose was also no longer available. Perhaps if Bolete had stuck with quality over quantity, they would not have run out of our first choice options? When I contacted the Shawnee in i was told you need to pay for anything you want, champagne, strawberries etc. The room is small, it's a long walk from the parking lot to the room so it was difficult for someone who has a hard time walking and bring your items from the parking lot to the room. So we did go to the museum and was told the building is 115 yrs old and there is a ghost in room 105 great we're in the next room, ghost in the ball room and in the 3rd floor. Also, like a true bad Yelper, I didn't take any pictures.) This was a while back so I sort of remember this, sort of forget a lot. What stood out is that I believe the last Tuesday of every month is $30 cash only and you need to call them to make a tee-time at that rate. I didn't set it up, my friend did, but I think that's what he said it was. Due to the possibility of rain/thunder in the forecast (that thankfully never came) the course was deserted in mid-afternoon. They let us go thirty minutes early and the round on the North Course was door to door a little over three hours which is perfect. The key before you come is to look at the below on their website as it tells you everything you need to know regardless of which course you play. www.golfsplitrock.com/course-layout The big thing I remember about this course is that most of the holes are very narrow and like seemingly every Pocono course, are lined with trees. That of course means, be straight-ish/accurate or prepare for lost ballapalooza. There is also a fair amount of what they call wetlands on most of the holes which means either be able to layup or bomb it over certain parts or else you're double screwed. I think the best thing was that due to no one being on the course, the round was very, very fast. If we wouldn't have farted around looking for balls on certain holes, this one could have been wrapped up in max three hours. Split Rock falls into that nebulous middle ground for me of Pocono Courses in that it didn't really make an impression. Nothing really outstanding just like nothing too bad. If the price were right, sure, why not.

My parents traded their time share to stay here and reserved a two bedroom suite with two queen beds in one room and a jetted tub in the master with a king bed. Upon arrival, they were given a one bedroom with an adjoining room with twin beds and charged a $400 resort fee because there were technically two different rooms. They have never had to pay a resort fee at any other resort they've traded their time share for. That was issue number one. Later which we found out we had booked the room that was over at the willowbrook yet they put us in an entirely different room even after we complained. They said they were "looking into it" but never ended up moving us. The rooms were dirty and kitchen lacking even an oven mitt, dish towel, or even a sponge. The glasses and dishes put away were clearly dirty. So we tried to run the dishwasher, shortly after we realized it was leaking as the carpet next to and behind it was soaked. Maintenance was called and the man simply looked at it and said it wasn't leaking even after feeling the damp floor. The next day we complained again and then they sent three men to replace it with another old dishwasher likely from a different room. Also, in our entire weeks stay. I only saw one maid, once. She was vacuuming the downstairs lobby. Meanwhile, the entire second floor and on looks like it's never seen a vacuum. That was the second issue. The worst part about the entire trip was the "resort amenities" that I assumed were part of the ridiculous $400 fee...as you can see from the photos, the tiles above the pool and bowling alley were riddled with water damage and mold. One tile even fell on a man's head while swimming in the pool! I even went to the front desk to let them know that a tile had fallen into the pool in the hopes they would clean it...and the lady at the front desk just said "here are the pool hours" so I don't think she understood me. Most of the staff doesn't speak English very well though not for lack of trying and they are very nice. The hot tub literally had a layer of film on it and wasn't hot. For this reason we chose not to swim. We stayed for a whole week and by the end of the week...the tiles were still laying at the bottom of the pool. Also, the bar and the water park were closed with the exception of one day during our entire week stay. The only thing to do was go to the arcade (which obviously still cost us money) The bowling alley also had leaking ceiling tiles. They simply put a bucket under it and it was still there nearly a week later when we check out. The water park was even more disgusting than the regular pool. Not to mention half of it was closed off. This resort looks like it was once really great back when they had enough staff and money to maintain it properly. The website and pamphlets show what the resort USED to look like and are not updated. It's a shame because if they put money into repairs to restore it to its former glory, it would be a great place to stay again. This place needs new owners willing to repair it because as is, it should be HEAVILY discounted. If you're going to spend that much, go somewhere nicer and cleaner. Do not stay here. I cannot believe how much they charge with almost nothing open or working. Throughout our stay we overheard many people complaining about broken air conditioning, non working elevators, tiles falling, things not working, things not being open, and the general condition of the place. I feel bad for the employees that have to deal with all the complaints. I can only imagine how the owners treat them with how little they seem to care about customers. I'm honestly shocked they're still in business. Do better!

EXCELLENT TRIP TO GERMANY, SWITZERLAND & AUSTRIA…read more========================== My husband and I booked the eleven day itinerary, but added one day to the beginning and two days to the end. Their website describes the day by day activities and hotels, so you can see the list there. I liked about half of the hotels, but some I would not stay in again like the Hilton in Central Munich, Germany. The breakfast was awful in my opinion and the one dinner wasn't that much better. Our room was alright, but the refrigerator didn't work. They brought an extra one that took up space on the floor. Since Gate 1 books your hotels you don't have control over their hotel choices. Our room at the Hyatt in Mainz smelled like mold, but the hotel kindly switched that room for us. I think my favorite hotel was the AC Marriott in Innsbruck. The food, rooms and location were great. Nadine Sandranowsky was our tour director for our small group of 24. She was great and always did a great job from start to beginning. I would recommend Gate 1 Travel as you do get more bang for your buck.

The lady at the counter recommended everything on the menu, but when I told her I was looking for something very sweet, she guided me to "The Persian", which is a donut filled with creme and other goodies and to the "Salted Caramel Bar", which was the largest brownie I had seen. For extra measures I went ahead and bought a White Cupcake as well and started my adventure by finishing that one first. The White was very well made, light to the eating and wasn't too sweet either. The real treat however was the Salted Caramel Bar as just after one bite, I was a full convert to becoming their fan right there and then. Not only is it huge, but there is plenty of very sweet and amazing caramel inside which oozes out as you eat through it. After discovering my new love interest in the brownie, I stood up to go meet the owner of the bakery. She shared that she and her sister had started this place and it was still relatively new. I complimented them for their artistry and asked them to be on Yelp, as that is the only place I get my recommendations. I drove home after buying another bar and kept it in the trunk so I do not have easy access to it.
