But, to be bluntly transparent about this, even though my activities fit The Columbia Lifestyle, my girth prevents me from fitting most of The Columbia Clothing. Still, some of the garments are more amply proportioned than the marked sizing would suggest, so I have the two sweaters to show for my repeated efforts to find more gear. I nearly bought gloves yesterday, just because they fit. I did buy another pair of Columbia shoes yesterday, though. But from a oligarchy-compliant online retailer, not from the local store in Monterey. Why? Because I was able to try on the right size, though not (for my preferences) in the right color. The right color was available, but not in my size. And special orders are not possible, reportedly, from the local store. So, we funded a little more fuel for the rich man's rocket. But for whatever disappointment there could have been, yesterday's twenty minutes in the Monterey Columbia store was one of the better shopping experiences I've had in quite a while. Even though the eventual sale was clearly going to be made outside the local brick-and-mortar, Store Manager Sam made sure we were able to confirm the right size for the right color so that we could order online (from someone other than Columbia, since the rocket-owner ships to us for free) with relative confidence. We'll be back to see what fits in the future. Make that "the near future." Those gloves were pretty nice.

I went in looking for a vest but bought a jacket. I got the Heavenly Hooded Jacket in black. It's like a puffer jacket but sleek not bulky, light weight but very warm, special thermal lining, with sleeve inserts that you insert your thumb on like fingerless gloves but can be worn like normal sleeves. Yes it was costly but I will get plenty of use out of it. I wore it horseback riding today. I haven't bought a parka coat since 2000. I'm hopeful this jacket lasts as long as my Lands End parks has.

Really disappointed in Dick's yesterday. So I purchased my son some pretty expensive jordan…read morebaseball cleats February 10th and yesterday, April 18th, the stitching on the front of the shoe came completely undone during my son's 7th game of the year! Mind you my son is only 100 pounds and isn't putting a ton of stress on these shoes. Long story short, Miguel at Dick's says that they don't do returns or exchanges after cleats have been worn and that I needed to go through nike since it's defective. Problem is my son needs new cleats now! So I bought him another pair because I can't have him playing in shoes. I then go online and start the return process from Nike only to find out that they can only send me the same pair of cleats. That wouldn't be so bad except for the fact I just spent an extra $100+ on another pair of cleats while we have to wait for nike to inspect my return and send a replacement. And now, best case scenario is im out money do to a defective product sold by Dick's and my son has 2 pairs of cleats. I feel like Miguel could have went the extra mile and just passed the buck. The cleats were dirty which probably didnt help our case but I literally came straight from my son's baseball game to the store. All in all just very bummed that what I thought would be a simple exchange and an apology for selling $165 cleats that were defective became a bit of a headache and a waste of my money.

Friendly and knowledgeable employees, they carry snow clothes, goggles, skis, snowboards, bindings, anything you name it. They even do rentals at an affordable cost and build it for you. We had a blast kayaking with the otters and seals!…read more Parking was easy as was check in at the store. They gave an informational overview of where to paddle to see wildlife as well as other recommendations and safety tips. They provide life jackets, waterproof jackets and pants which were great too keep water off your clothes. There are porto potties available if you need to use the facilities. The staff were well very nice and helpful. The main con of our trip was the two person top sitting kayak we were on seemed to have problems with steering. No matter how hard we tried to turn right, the kayak always tended to veer the other direction which was frustrating. We got another kayak to check if they saw anything wrong visually on the water, but they couldn't see anything so maybe there was something going on with the underside of the kayak. Besides that, we had a nice time on the water and were able to enjoy seeing all the birds and cute otters and seals out and about. Later in the morning and early afternoon we even got to see the otters get more active and go diving for mud worms that looked like bright orange cigars. It was super cute seeing the otters sleeping nested in the kelp too. Try not to disturb them though since they need to conserve energy to stay warm! We unfortunately saw one tour group led by a guide that went right next to a sleeping pod of otters and woke them all up. Overall, fun place to go kayaking with wildlife! Glad we went on this trip here!
