My only complaint is that the wetsuits I rented from them were super old and had holes, and were super leaky. It wasn't just me, I noticed the other woman who also was renting gear had a hole in her wetsuit as well. It felt like the wetsuit didn't do much for me- when I got into the water the cold went right through me- and I've been cold water diving before in Monterey and know how it feels when a wetsuit works and hasn't degraded to this point. Renting gear can be a hit or miss- Monterey bay waters are sooo cold! And comfortability during cold water dives matter a LOT - otherwise you just use up a lot of air and get too cold/shivers. I think it's part of the responsibility of the dive shop to make sure that the wetsuits are still adequate for diving, and to rotate in better condition suits and toss the ones that are ready to go.

I can tell from the beginning that they are all about their safety and very serious about diving safety but at the same time everyone was filled with laughs and smiles! The divers aboard ranged from a rebreather diver to an instructor with a student and it was a wonderful mix we are looking forward to being a part of again. The bitty galley is well stocked for a small day boat, snacks and hot water for cider, cocoa, tea...if you're lucky MaryJo will have made brownies; hers have ruined all other brownies for me! A few notes after reading the reviews. 1) Jim is really the peak of bowmen....an archer's archer. I've gone hunting with others that have previously hunted with Jim. They told me that Jim took an Alaskan bear at 105 yards with a single arrow. When I confronted him with this, he said, "naw, it was only 100 yards"...... 2) He's been the paid factory rep - the face of the factory - for at least one bow manufacturer. Not an honor lightly achieved. 3) His whole family shoots at the expert level. Some will be there for training events. 4) Jim as a million stories and will give selflessly in showing you, your friends, your class, your league how to shoot. However, he does not suffer fools lightly and if you come in with the "customer's always right" or some other attitude, he will feel no need to help you any longer. Conversely, he is great with kids and clumsies. If you've ever noodled the idea of trying out a bow (I hate using long bows, but compound bows are great fun without pulling yourself apart), I highly recommend that you go visit and ask to try out a rental bow for an hour. Very inexpensive. If you don't get hooked, there's always chess or scrap-booking...... Jim - it was a privilege to shoot my first real bow there. My daughter is your biggest fan. I'll be back soon.

I walked in with very little knowledge and walked out not only with everything I needed to get started with a longbow, but also with a wealth of insight and guidance. Jim took an incredibly generous amount of his time to make sure both my partner and I were set up for success, answering every question and making the whole process feel approachable and exciting. He didn't try to oversell anything at all one of the most up front and honest blokes I've come across. It's honestly the first time I've been to a shop that shows this level of care and attention to newcomers, it was an absolutely brilliant experience. Because of Jim, his mate Travis, and everyone else we met there, this is quickly becoming a serious hobby for us. If you've even thought about trying archery, do yourself a favor and stop by, Jim will have you feeling confident and eager to start shooting in no time. I have been a California general contractor for 42 years and have never seen such blatantly poor…read moreperformance in all my years. All the work contracted for had to be done over and over again. Much of their work is still not done correctly and will have to redo. If you have a yacht their work will depreciate it's value because of extremely shoddy workmanship. The manager exhibits predatory business behavior. Bottom paint they can do. That is their absolute limit.

The maintenance, office and security/fuel dock crew are all professional and know their jobs. The marina and maintenance staff, the boats and boat owners- it's all very friendly and laid back, yet professional when it's time to work. Historically, Monterey had always been a favorite haven for pacific sailors. I'd put Breakwater Cove/Monterey Bay boat works at the top of the list for havens...followed closely by Morro Bay, which is very cool, but lacks the maintenance opportunities that MBBW has to offer.

With such a special event I spent a lot of time researching and was actually debating on booking with Carrera Sailing vs a few other private charters. I can confidently say that I made the right decision. What separated Carrera Sailing from the competition for me was Gene himself and his attention to detail. He is not a large company that churns through customers as quickly as possible. He focuses on quality and providing great customer service. From the start, he was very transparent to me regarding the wind and weather conditions and provided recommendations for the dates we were in town. You could also tell that Gene had decades of experience from the entertaining stories and experiences he shared during the trip. My husband and I decided to rent some e-bikes during our first visit to Pacific Grove. We planned…read moreon biking from Pacific Grove on the 17 Mile Drive along the coast to Carmel. We got in contact with Carlos and Coastal Ebike Connection a couple of days before we flew into Monterrey from Phoenix. From our first conversation with Carlos on the phone, we immediately knew that we had made the right decision on renting ebikes from him. Carlos met us at the motel we were staying at in Pacific Grove at 0900 in the am, and gave us some quick lessons on how to use the e-bikes. He also provided us with helmets (which were VERY comfortable), water bottles, a lock for the bikes, backpacks to carry our belongings, and some nice warm vests with the company logo on them. We signed some forms, Carlos chatted with us for a bit and snapped some photos with our phone cameras, and off we went! We had an amazing time, and wouldn't have wanted to explore the 17 mile drive any other way than on the e-bikes. You can stop as often as you want and take some amazing photos and enjoy the views at your own pace. We stopped in Carmel for lunch and shopping and walking in the neighborhood, and then headed back to Pacific Grove on our amazing e-bikes. Carlos was such a joy to chat with--such a warm, friendly, and outgoing person who is clearly enthusiastic about his business and putting his customers first. We felt like we had been friends for years after meeting and interacting with him. You will LOVE him. Carlos drove to our motel after we had texted him that we had finished our bike ride, and we talked about our amazing experience while Carlos packed up the bikes in his trailer. We highly recommend that you rent some e-bikes from Carlos when you are in Pacific Grove, whether it be for 4 hours, or 8 hours---you will not regret it.
