Disappointed with my experience at west holistic medicine, but there are a few good providers at the clinic.

Since around the age of 24., I've been battling Hashimoto's and added issues which I thought were IBS and fibromyalgia. After extensive testing, mold toxicity and SIBO were two issues we were able to pinpoint. Within weeks of the new supplement regime, I was put on, while living in a mold environment, my aches and pains went away! Dr Shippy has been extremely helpful, considerate and caring as we navigated moving to a safe environment. She is always a source of encouragement. For the first time in years, I can see a light at the end of the tunnel under her care. I cannot say enough good things about her! She is worth every penny and ounce of your time!

Update: Another reviewer stated rates from 2010. The following are the current rates for 2024…read more Dr Ann Shippy's rate for new patient appointments is $4,200.00, and yes you read that right. FOUR THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED DOLLAR$ for one two-hour appointment. Her follow up appointments are $780.00 per hour and 3-6 weeks apart. Plus thousands of dollar$ more for her 'lab tests' and 'supplements'. In a just one year, the math is the 'tell'... $15,000.00 to $20,000.00 Dollars.... And no insurance. I cannot comprehend what appears to be an shocking disregard for decency. Even in a free market, what type of person would make their fortune on the backs of the sick and suffering, the desperate and frightened.... never mind a 'doctor'?

He may be an amazing doctor, but I'll never know . . . because his staff gave me a weird runaround…read more My insurance company said he was taking new patients. I phoned his office. They confirmed that he was taking new patients. They said they'd email me the paperwork. I spelled my email address v-e-r-y c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y. No paperwork. Next day, I phoned his office again. I said I hadn't gotten an email, maybe because they hadn't spelled my email address correctly. I spelled it again v-e-r-y c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y. No paperwork. So I went to the office. I asked to fill out the paperwork then and there, and they gave it to me. When I turned it in, they said someone would review it and call me to make an appointment. Did they? You guessed it. No call. So why would a doctor claim to be taking new patients when he really isn't? Is it some quirky insurance thing? I just don't get it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ P.S. The day after I left this review, his office called me to schedule an appointment. Needless to say, I declined. So I guess he is taking new patients (at least when prompted by a Yelp review). But then why the runaround???

I've been a patient of Dr. Killian for about six years now and I feel very fortunate to have him as…read moremy primary care physician. He's highly competent, friendly, and an excellent communicator. As others here have noted, one never feels that he's in a rush to wrap up his time with you and move on. He takes time to engage in a conversation with you, to listen to your concerns and questions, and to address them thoroughly. For me, good communication is the most important quality I look for in a primary care doctor, aside from a basic confidence in his/her competence. Dr. Killian has helped me better understand my various medical issues and articulates his treatment goals and methodologies in an exceptionally thorough and understandable manner. I have a fantastic cardiologist who is also an excellent communicator, but I have often found myself with Dr. Killian explaining and helping me understand my heart issues more completely than I would listening to my cardiologist alone. He is thorough in integrating test results and other information from the cardiologist (and other specialists) into my patient records to maintain a complete understanding of all my ongoing medical issues. I could scarcely ask for more than that. His group practice, Red River Family Practice, is well-run, and I have encountered very few of the office/administrative frustrations I have at similar group practice offices. Reading some other less-than-positive reviews here, I'm reminded that no single physician is likely to be the right fit for every patient, each with their unique concerns and expectations. That said, Dr. Killian is a perfect fit for my priorities and expectations, and his competence and professionalism provide a rock-solid foundation to support those preferences. Three cheers and five stars for the good doctor, Michael Killian!

She didn't take my temperature. She wouldn't even examine me. She opened the door in the middle of our discussion and kept talking about my issues with the door open as she went into the hallway to get on another computer. I asked her if I needed a referral, and she said, "I don't know. Do you? I don't know what kind of insurance you have." I saw someone else at ARC three days later who actually helped me. They seemed baffled about Dr. Siegel's statements. I also noticed that Dr. Siegel put my description of the problem in quotes to imply it was not true or valid. Very bizarre.

Either incompetent or lazy…read more I scheduled an appointment with Amy Siegel to go over some blood work that I had taken because I felt perpetually exhausted. No amount of sleep helped or caffeine made me feel alert or awake. My appointment with Amy was to go over the results of my blood exam, specifically my testosterone levels. I was in my early 30s at this time and I scored about 400 on my testosterone, which is borderline medically low. When I asked Amy if there was anything that can be done she quickly said "no, there's nothing you can do and nothing I can do to help you" When I asked if there were any changes in my life style that I can change that may help bring up my testosterone level? I asked could changes in my diet or sleep help? she quickly and abruptly said "no." And told me to go to a men's clinic. The more I learned about how your body creates testosterone helped me understand that everything she said was either a lie or untrue. Testosterone can directly be impacted by getting restful sleep and your diet absolutely plays a strong part in the creation of testosterone. Amy either did not care or did not know about how to help me, not only that, she seemed rude, unsympathetic, and my interaction with her was the last one I ever had or ever will have with Austin regional clinic. I took her advice and made Total Men's my PCP and washed my hands of terrible doctors like her. She is exactly the kind of person that AI needs to put out of a job. I am considering reporting the interaction to the medical board for either lying for giving me false medical advice
