We arrived early and the place was nearly empty. I walked around their DVD area and picked up one my son wanted. I then went to purchase the new Arianna album with my other selections. The lady at the register was very nice and informative. She gave me some freebies since I was getting the album, which was a pleasant surprise. The DVDs were a little expensive ($5) but they have cheaper sections (near the front doors) so you can surely find something good there. I will definitely return as they also have a neat 2nd floor that has some nice gifts and other trinkets.

If I were to open a smoke shop, it would be environmentally far and away above all of these stores…read moresuch that you would ENJOY spending time there, dim the lights, cushy chairs, ditch the middle eastern status quo. And then I would undercut the market by 30% and operate on volume over profit margins because the economy has changed and the folks who put together a strategy that mirrors the problems in the pockets of its customers will have a line out the door and people will stick around, buy more and invite their friends. Maybe add a rockin' coffee bar?! The traditional model of foreigners arriving and putting the exact same products on the shelves as the guy across the street without any sense of differentiation, no marketing plan, mediocre customer service; it's all rather tired and not an attractive addition to the community. Then expecting customer loyalty and offering cash discounts such as "Sure you can pay me an extra $5 bucks for being stupid enough to walk in the door." The best vapes are available in Agoura Hills at The Treasure Chest for 25% less. And you don't have to pay for fluorescent lighting sure to provide a head ache on your way in. Seemingly entirely uninterested in knowing their market, just stock up, add some tacky cheap jewelry and open the doors. This isn't downtown Chinatown but they keep repeating the theme, not offering anything, no incentive to return and ultimately make me feel like garbage for patronizing them at all. No one is bad. No. But no one even TRIES to be wonderful. A strong theme in all kinds of businesses lately wherein creativity and innovation are checked at the lease signing. Nice guy and it's not horrific but why not be a stand out on EVERY SIGNIFICANT FRONT? Remember, this is not dress rehearsal. This is IT: YOUR OPPORTUNITY FOR A DEFINING MOMENT.

My review is for the walk-in humidor. I'm a long time cigar enthusiast, going back 20 years, so I'm…read morenot a newbie. I tend to buy online, but every once in a while, I go into local B&M's to support small businesses and maybe try something new. The truth is this place is your standard smoke / vape / gear shop that happens to have a walk in humidor. I I've been here 4 or 5 times and to their credit it does appear the humidor is restocked regularly, even with some newer stuff that enthusiasts would care about. However, there's two issues; one is the prices. Cigars will always be more expensive at a local shop, obviously due to overhead but also because they're usually cigar lounges; they offer you places to sit and watch the game, chat, or just spend some time relaxing in a comfortable place. Some even offer drinks and you get none of that here. You just get a local college kid serving as a clerk; it's a "buy-and-leave" type of set up so cigars really shouldn't be two or even three times a typical price. The second problem is the walk-in humidor itself. One of the cigars I bought last time was a La Flor Dominicana Colorado Oscuro that I smoked that day and five minutes in the wrapper was cracking almost immediately due to under-humidification. Now I know the humidor is humidified (I checked); but if the wrapper cracks as you're smoking it, it's usually because you're under 62% RH. Some shops will even store their cigars in humidified back rooms to stabilize after shipments arrive in order to avoid any under-humidification in the walk-in, but that isn't happening here. In short, it would be nice if Camarillo had a real cigar lounge where the prices were justified and the humidification was on point, but this just isn't it.
