I wanted to check out their furniture choices but I was not very impressed with their selection nor their features. Some of the couches were very firm, some were very soft. Nice little branch off the West Elm tree here in Providence. However, there is a staff member here who walks the floor inflicting herself on you and makes obtuse, semi witty comments as you're obviously just browsing. I find this most annoying. Today, after this happened again I just up and left without buying something I was interested in. I'll just get it elsewhere without the effete weirdness. I hope the management takes notice of these comments. Most mature adults shopping know how to find and ask for assistance when and if they want help. read more

Great store in Wayland square!. Came here to get living room chairs. A stylist came by to the house for free before even purchasing anything. All the staff were great and helpful, esp Nikki. Waiting since October for stools, still not received and they keep pushing the delivery date out without contacting me. Ordered sofas in August, still not received, they keep pushing the date out and no contact, no courtesies to acknowledge how unacceptable this is. I am on the cusp of cancelling my orders. Trying to get a sectional couch from West Elm has been an absolute headache. We ordered one back in May 2022, with a delivery date for late June 2022. Delivery then got pushed back to August 2022. After living in our apartment for two months without a couch, and having paid $3,000+ for it, we were SO excited for it to finally arrive. The morning of the delivery, we are informed that they had LOST half of the couch - they could not find it. They could not provide a timeline of when they might find it but said it would be at least 48 hours before we got another update... The delivery people then tried to get the half of the couch they did have into our apartment. However, it didn't fit up the stairs. Instead of lifting it up over the porch (which is how we sometimes have to get furniture into the apartment), West Elm refused, saying our options were to return the couch or hire our own movers to get it inside. Considering the fact that they didn't even know where the other half of the couch was, we returned it. We're never ordering from West Elm again and seriously regretting not going with a different company from the start. The backorder delays, general disorganization, and lack of flexibility around delivery options are just not worth it. read more

My husband and I were furnishing a whole house of furniture, this is where we met and the sales person in Providence RI. She was very nice to work with and helped us pick out a dining room table, 6 dining table chairs, a couch and two side chairs. She was very patient with us and helped us out then we opened a credit card. This is where it all went wrong. This sales person did not fill out the application correctly but we had no idea. We left thinking we had purchased everything and went home. A month later I checked on the order due to silence and I found out, the ENTIRE order had been canceled the day after we placed the order. There was no phone call from the company to discuss the error. They tried to say someone "emailed me" but that is easy to check. They in fact DID NOT EMAIL ME, they just canceled a $6,000 order with no phone call. Who does that? West Elm does! The salesperson had made an error on the credit card application. They just canceled my order. So we were now behind 30 days from obtaining our furniture in COVID. We have had nothing but trouble trying to get it reordered and delivered to our house. Nobody in the company nor the corporation of William Sonoma gives 2 cents about what they did to create this problem. My husband and I did nothing wrong. Due to an employee error and lack of care, we are still without furniture. We ordered September 30th and it's now January 13th. We wanted to love West elm but unfortunately I will never ever shop there again nor will I promote it. read more

West Elm fits perfectly in Wayland Square, amongst it's other high end retailers, boutiques and restaurants. I've only heard of West Elm but had never been inside a store until Yelp had an event there (last night actually) so it was a reason to go and check out what the store has to offer and also be surrounded by fellow Yelpers. The store is a decent size, chock full of gorgeous home decor which is very much out of my price range but I can certainly appreciate beautiful pieces when I see them. I quite enjoyed the area where you can make your own terrarium; how cute! I'd definitely go back to West Elm to do some window shopping, check out the clearance section or buy something if there's a good sale going on. Other than that, I'll stick with Home Goods. read more

Honestly, the prices are out of my range but it's nice to stop by on my way to the grocery store or coffee shop and check out their gorgeous displays. And I do LOVE their terrariums. Perfect location and wouldn't you know it they have a secret little parking lot right behind the store. Don't pay that parking meter fee, park for free! Topping it out at 5 stars just for that. Christmas shopping was a breeze with this customer focused home goods shop. I was always helped above and beyond plus when I needed a certain amount of one item they had them wrapped and waiting on me to pick up! Most of the decor is modern so I love it but not completely my style and yet I was able to find some wonderful additions to my humble castle. They had some crazy limited sales recently, I picked up multiple soft cozy throws for a steal. The sale area is always stocked in the back and worth checking out. The bedding to the candles what is not to love? I am thrilled to have West Elm in my neighborhood and hope they are here to stay! read more

So, I've NEVER been in a west elm but have done some on line shopping. They have such a great variety of stuff and is definitely better viewed in store. The rooms staged helped me visualize. Also made me want to buy everything in the store! They were already playing holiday music and had Christmas decor for sale. I didn't hate that either. I just wish was a bigger planter selection. I went in to elevate my indoor garden game. Also the staff were super sweet and not down my neck like other stores. read more

Not the fault of this location! But we ordered a crib and two attachments to eventually make it into a bed. The attachments arrived on time. The crib was ordered in May of 2021 and was initially set to arrive September 2021. Our child was due November 2021. In July the receipt date was pushed back due to October, then in August it was pushed back to November, then in October it was pushed back to December. Our son was born on 11/1, so December was still fine. A week after his birth, they pushed it back again to February. At this point we realized we were not going to have the crib in time, so we canceled our order. Now, they have the audacity to charge us return shipping of $30 for the parts that go with the crib that never arrived. This is unacceptable nonsense and if there was any semblance of customer service we would have not only gotten a free return, but a gift card for a future purchase. Will never shop with West Elm, Pottery Barn, or Pottery Barn Kids again unless they have the product in stock. I understand there are supply chain issues, but if you cannot fulfill an order, you are supposed to say you are out of stock so the customer can look elsewhere. You do NOT accept a customers money for an order that cannot be fulfilled. read more

BEYOND dissatisfied with this store and this company in general. Long story short- ordered a Hamilton sofa in store in September 2020-after salesperson not even having swatch to show us in store. And placed order through computer at a snails pace(which we could have done from our home). Was told 8 weeks for delivery. Delivery back ordered and was told would be February 16 2021. Call customer service twice and was PROMISED 350 dollar gift card for inconvenience of waiting 6 months Fast forward to today- delivery day 2/24/21: was told between 7-9 am. First said 7:04, then said 7:45 and then checked and said CANCELLED. With no phone call. No text. Call customer service- "couch was noted to be damaged and automatically issued a return" without notification. New delivery of replacement couch not until July(really means September-October) -1 year after purchase. Requested to cancel order, customer service woman tried to short me 200 dollars on my refund. And "texted" supervisor who said they would not honor 350 dollar gift card, despite giving names of people who promised me this gift card. WHAT A HUGE DISASTER OF A COMPANY. No regard for people wasting 8 months of their life, taking time out of work to wait for delivery, and then can't even provide a product in the end. Scrambled trying to find a couch. I order on a Sunday April 26th and 5 days later it supposed to be delivered. I got confirmation and delivery schedule in the first 5 minutes of ordering. Worst service ever! I ordered a custom sleeper sofa in June at this store after going there to see it, feel it, etc, and was told about 8 weeks. We were never notified of any progress or updates by the store. We found out on line it had arrived in warehouse August 12. Multiple phone calls with long wait times on hold over the course of 2 weeks before we could finally arrange delivery. It was scheduled for Thurs August 30. Truck arrived and when the 2 delivery men saw it had to go up 2 flights of stairs one of the men said "I have a bad back." They put the couch back on the truck and left saying they were bringing it to another crew and would be back and I would be called in 15 minutes to tell me when. 1 1/2 hours later I was called to say they wouldn't be back and I was rescheduled for Thursday Sept 6, told there would be 3-4 men to deliver. The 2!!! delivery men arrived later than window time given today. I showed one of the guys where it was going. He said he'd be right back with the delivery. 10 minutes later when they weren't back I went outside and discovered they had left! Not a word, just left!!! I was again rescheduled for yesterday, September 11 with a window of 7 - 9 AM for delivery. I received a text at 6:09 AM saying delivery would be in 30 minutes. I waited and waited and waited, and they never came! I was on hold with customer service for 45 minutes and as it finally began to ring through it was disconnected. I called again and after 40 minutes I reached a live person who transferred me to another. On hold again, live person, transferred again. On hold again, live person who said "you were scheduled for first delivery this morning. i will look into this and call you back." Needless to say, there was no call back at all. I can't get anyone to respond via phone or e mail. I will never shop here again! I have wasted 3 days on this waiting for delivery and countless hours on the phone. I should be compensated for my wasted time. I will be filing a complaint with my credit card company today to attempt a full refund. Don't shop here! read more

BUYER BEWARE: Great furniture but terrible customer service and follow though. I ordered furniture on February 14, for pick-up at the store. Was initially told it would arrive mid March. When I received the order confirmation, anticipated pick up was early April. Ok. A couple of extra weeks, no problem.... Right. My pick up date got moved from Early April to April 27, then to May 2. When my pick-up date got moved to May 8, I called the store to find out what was going on. A few phone calls in, I am assured that my furniture has made it to the NJ warehouse, and my pick-up date will no longer be moved. So you can imagine my surprise when a week later my anticipated pick up date gets moved to JULY 10. Now I call and speak to the store manager, who promises a call back with an update. I also email customer service and get a generic email response with promise of follow-up with more specifics. I called back five days later asking for an update since I didn't hear from anyone, speak to someone else at the store who informs me there are no manager notes indicating there is a problem, he will also call back when he has more information. Needless to say, I'm still waiting to receive a phone call or email as of the time of this review. read more

West Elm may be a chain retailer, this particular West Elm feels like a much more local store. Every single employee is so courteous; they balance a customer's need for time to peruse and browse but are always available to answer questions, no matter how small. Not only are they helpful, they are incredibly friendly and make the shopping experience so pleasurable. The store often has amazing sales, particularly on "As Is" furniture (featured in their "Flea" section) - items that have been on the showroom floor and are in good condition. When they do not have an item available, they are happy to order it to the store or to your home. If you buy larger pieces of furniture, they will ship it to the store, saving you the shipping and white glove service fee. While I liked West Elm before shopping at this store, this store's helpful staff and wonderful inventory have made me an even bigger fan of West Elm! read more

What a fabulous addition to Wayland Square! I stopped by for their opening party on 8/31, and was very impressed with the friendly staff and great selection of items in stock. The space is large and takes up what used to be four different stores. The space has been rehabbed and is big and open. Furniture is arranged in cute vignettes mixed with decor. They also have a home design area with lots of swatches for custom orders of upholstered items, curtains, and blinds. DON'T SHOP THERE - SAVE YOURSELF THE FRUSTRATION!!!! I'm not typically one to share experiences, good or bad, but this situation has gone too far. I feel that people deserve to know that they're setting themselves up for a horrible experience if they purchase furniture from West Elm. Here's what happened to me: I ordered a bull pin console on December 27th, 2016 at which point the scheduled delivery date was February 1st. At this point I had no idea what sort of frustration would follow... *UNRESPONSIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE* - February 1st rolled around and I heard NOTHING. Online tracking said the console shipped from the vendor. I called AND emailed West Elm Customer service and HEARD NOTHING BACK. *POOR SCHEDULING*- Febrary 6th rolls around and I've STILL heard nothing. I called customer service again. They told me the piece had been sitting in the warehouse, available for delivery. "We're sorry nobody contacted you," they said. The first available delivery date was Feb 15th. Although frustrated that nobody bothered to contact me to schedule delivery, I've now waited 6 weeks... I guess I can wait one more week, right? *DELIVERY DAY!... SIKE!* - Feb 15th - The delivery men apparently came to my house, where we had 3 adults home during the scheduled delivery window. Not one of us heard a knock, nobody called... there was no attempt to get a hold of us. They left after 5 MINUTES and refused to come back later in the day. Customer service then told me the next available delivery date was Saturday, Feb 18th. *WRONG DAY!!!* - Feb 17th - The delivery crew shows up on the wrong day! I was now very frustrated - I had to change my work schedule to be available for the delivery. Then, the delivery man knocked on my door and told me there is no way he's taking the piece out of the truck because its SO BADLY DAMAGED. He told me I'd hear from customer service that day. Do you think I heard anything from them? NOPE. *MULTILPE BROKEN PROMISES* - Feb 20th - March 1st... I've placed repeated calls to customer service asking for someone to please give me a date that I'll receive the new piece. I've had 3 people promise me they'll follow up on this and do everything they can to get it to me as soon as possible. Each one has been a broken promise. I have yet to find out when I'll receive the piece. I've also asked for a discount due to all of this trouble and nobody is able to give me an answer on what that will be. I'm left wondering, "should I just cancel this order and never use West Elm again?" Is this the worst furniture company in the World!?! read more

Came in here on a whim to look at furniture and decor for a tv show "set" in a stressful deadline situation. Ended up getting almost everything i needed. Staff was more helpful than i've experienced in a long time. Even noticed my phone was dead and they offered to charge it up for me. Top notch service and employees today. the worst costomer service i have ever experienced!!! was in there on 3/15/18 one associate approached and asked if she could help us find anything in particular?? i said yes it's a silver storage basket. the woman said i'll go downstairs i think we have one down there. she had to ask the managers permission. which the manager then paused, and "said well then hurry up because i have paperwork to do and restocking to finish" while you have a customeranother standing there asking to purchase something.. i felt like her and another associate behind counter.. we're consumed with paper work then making the customer their number one priority... i live in the area.. i purchased my bed from this particular store i asked them if they had veteran's discount and their reply to me was "what we don't have veterans discounts" like i was crazy for even asking such a question... the basket finally came from the basement which was damaged and crinkled up and fold it at the bottom and the top to the basket was very flimsy not the same basket that i had went and viewed a month earlier they were having a 20% off sale and i asked the gentleman behind the counter if he would take anything off because the basket look damaged he continue to look down at his paperwork and barely answered me and said no and looked right back down at his paperwork and dismissed me i was treated very poorly, disrespectfully, you need to advise your associates that customers come first not paperwork.. read more

This is my new favorite shop in Wayland Square! I bought end tables and the Parson's Desk. I absolutely love them. They are contemporary, well built and very clean looking and were easy to assemble. I ordered them from the store so any in store discounts apply even though we had to order them online. Unfortunately, they aren't big enough to store the furniture but luckily all the items arrived within a week of placing the order. read more
