The store is beautiful however there is not alot of in-stock items. The service was good when you inquire otherwise the associates don't bother you as you shop. Wish I would have read reviews before visiting. My gf wanted to visit as a result of seeing online items that peeked her interest. She recently bought a new home, I knew this world be a fun field trip. Walked in and it was beautiful. Well staged, 2 levels and plenty of staff. Sadly the plenty of staff didn't acknowledge us during our 45 minute visit. Not 1 "Hello, Hi, Hey", etc. I've never visited somewhere so customer service cold. Plenty of well staged spaces, well priced and endless color and texture options. My friend specially wanted to view a rug in store and we couldn't even reach it. No one offered to assist despite being within ears reach. How did we get the item down, well let's just say unconventional methods. ** le sigh ** Forgot to mention, we couldn't even find the damn rugs at first. I came in to look at some sectionals in person. The reps pretty much left us alone until we approached them with a question. She explained which line of sofas came in the size I was looking for. She also explained shipping times and how to go on-line to 'build your own'. I specifically like the amount of options they have for the right facing chaise! Worst experience ever. I dealt with a lady named Holly and she was beyond rude. I would never buy anything from this location again.

Purchased very expensive couch in May. Not to be delivered until August. The person selling us the couch told us they would not charge us until within a couple of weeks of delivery. This was a blatant lie (fraud). They charged us immediately. I spoke to corporate several times and they were unable to resolve this stating that they had to pay the manufacturer they were importing it from. This is very different than their marketing materials showing American workers hand making furniture. The store lied to make a sale when we were on the fence about waiting that long for delivery. This place is an overpriced front for illegal business practices with zero customer service trying to pretend it's positioned to sell high quality furniture to high paying customers. read more

In anticipation of moving into my new home I ordered a Couch and Chair on Sept 21st and my order has been rescheduled 4 time now. I am greatly disappointed, I always liked West Elm but now I have a new home with no furniture. I have not been offered a discount or an apology of any kind. I have a love-hate relationship with West Elm. Back in the day (about 7 years ago), I was aging out of Ikea everything, and I needed a new sofa to replace my futon. So I made the genius decision to get a West Elm card. That card has resulted in me furnishing my home almost entirely in West Elm products. I hate this. I mean, I love having furniture! But it has indeed forced this modern/mid-century-modern West Elm aesthetic on me. My style is definitely more bohemian, but whatever. I am stuck in the vortex now. The sales at West Elm are never really great. They have a really horrible policy where you can't really buy any furniture in store (forcing you to order it, when sometimes you just need an office chair ASAP because your back is killing you after working from home for a year... like even if you offer to pay full price for the floor model on the spot, but I digress). Even if you order something and have it shipped to the store, they force you to pay a fee for this. Basically, they are going to get every ounce of delivery and fees out of you to get furniture. So the store essentially becomes a showroom for their mail order company. And with the pannie and supply chain drama, this has meant sometimes you see something you want, and when you select it for order, you quickly kick it out of your cart because the projected delivery date is August 2022 and it is December. Anyway. Enough with the hate. If you want to buy smaller items (think the old school Pier One experience), you can find those things in store. Some cute stuff. You can sit on sofas and chairs before you order them, but there is no guarantee the item will be available for you to try in store, so... Back on track, the love: so the sofa I ordered 7 years ago is still in really good condition. I just give the cushions a good whack every week and it's fine. The performance velvet fabric is very durable and stain resistant. Pretty easy to spot clean for minor spills. It is comfortable to sleep on for a night if you must. Two is a no-go. Cannot speak for their convertibles/pull-outs. I have a small collection of storage ottomans that come in clutch for storing things in your living room that you don't necessarily want to see. My bar stools are actually pretty bomb: they swivel and are height adjustable. My bedroom furniture does the job. It's a very inoffensive bedroom setup. I have to weird it up with my decorating, which is fine. I bought a Casper mattress back when they partnered with West Elm, and it is still a really good mattress. Heavy as a mofo, but comfortable. I do have my eye on a media center. Will come in time. And this is indeed made possible by my West Elm card... that zero percent interest if over y price and paid in x months is pretty nice. See? I will never escape. P.S.: The last time I was in there to buy an office chair (around October 2021), I was offered assistance, which I then actively pursued/maintained by engaging with the one pretty nice lady. In the past, people have been kind enough to let me browse, and I had to seek out assistance thereafter. I think you really just have to go in and ask for what you want, and someone will usually help you. But they aren't going to follow you or be your personal assistant when you're in there. read more

I was super skeptical to visit this location after I read the reviews and saw the ratings, but I decided to head up to Baltimore regardless to check out what this location had in store. Dorinda greeted me upon arrival and informed me that she would be with me momentarily. She provided outstanding customer service, informing me of all the different sectionals that they had in store and the different fabrics. She even highlighted which ones shipped sooner than others. when I asked questions about the colors and fabrics in store versus how they looked online, because they appeared different to me and Dorinda went out of her way to show me the different fabrics under inside lighting compared to how they would look with natural light. She even took a pillow outside on the street to show for comparison. Overall, I was very impressed with this shopping experience. Dorinda was very patient and knowledgeable about what West Elm had in stock and what were suitable substitutes. read more

I highly caution against ordering from this company. They send items damaged, and do very little to actually help the customer replace and obtain a non-damaged item. The mid-century table has been delivered to me damaged three times. Their delivery company (Fidelitone) doesn't even inspect boxes externally prior to delivery, so much so that they actually tried to deliver a box that was busted with a clearly damaged item visible. read more

Part of this is on the dumpster fire that is West Elm corporate, but we have had endless difficulties working with this store. In the last two years we've spent well over 15k with this location, and the level of service provided for that loyalty is practically zero. The employees don't generally seem to care about customer issues, but even those that do are hamstrung by corporate policies that prevent even a modicum of service. I thought that supporting a new retail location in Baltimore was the right thing to do, and perhaps it helped them, but in no way do I feel like making purchases here benefitted me over doing so online. read more

I'd have to agree with most of the reviews left for this location. I went here today with my daughter and was completely ignored by all employees in the store. We were also the only people in the store at the time so it's not like anyone was too busy to talk to us. Not one employee asked what i was looking for or if I needed help with anything. In fact we weren't even greeted by a single person. I constantly shop on West Elm's website to get cute pieces. I finally had the chance to go to the store in Baltimore. I LOVE it. I basically found everything online in the store. It great being able to touch the products before buying. West Elm has some decent sales during the holidays so I'll be back instead of paying for shipping. TIP: West Elm offers 1 hour of free parking with purchase. The garage is $10 for the first hour and $7 per hour afterwards. So if you can't grab one of the limited free spots outside, use the garage, shop for 50 minutes, and get that ticket validated once you buy your items. read more

West elm is a catalog come to life. Friendly staff full of suggestions yet not over bearing. Bought a few Mongolian throw pillows, ceramic bowls and fuzzy throws for the cold nights ahead. This location is bright and airy, filled with sunlight with floor to ceiling windows giving you great views of the harbor. This location also supports local designers/ artists which is always cool. Poor customer service/Gender Discrimination: Visited this store on 9/23/2020 after viewing several items online that I really liked (as I am in the process of furnishing a living room and 2 bedrooms). As I entered [downstairs], the gentlemen greeted me. I made my way upstairs as most of the inventory is upstairs. I noticed a young lady [employee] on a laptop. She never greeted me or asked if I needed help. I even spent a few minutes directly in front of her looking at (and taking photos) of area rugs. About 5 minutes later, two female customers entered the upstairs area; the employee IMMEDIATELY greeted them and asked them if they needed help and continued to work with them as I showed myself around. I spent another 15 minutes walking around, never to be acknowledged. read more

The store itself is good, plenty of selections to view from multiple lines of West Elm products. The 1 star is more so for the company as a whole, I have had multiple issues from late deliveries to getting charged interest fees for a credit card that was sold as a 12 month 0% interest agreement. Given the company's "sales" tactics, it deserves nothing more than a 1 star. Buyers beware of the credit card agreements with West Elm. read more

This is a smaller store but their clearance section is well stocked. They had some great items on sale when I was there, as well as furniture pieces that people had returned that were marked down. This is a smaller west elm. The store employees were not as friendly as other stores that I have experienced. No one greeted or asked if I needed help. There was an issue with the price where the associate had to call the store manager it took over 10 minutes for the manager to come, she seemed very annoyed when she had to do an over ride. I think a 3/5 rating is spot on. This location is only OK. It's smaller and doesn't have nearly as much as I'd hoped, but it's good to see some of the pieces in person (though the selection is limited, so they don't have everything, still nice to get an idea though). I'm always nervous about ordering furniture online. It's also nice to be able to see some of the fabrics (they have swatches). As far as the employees, most of them are pretty indifferent and not so willing to help. One very friendly employee asked us if we needed something but I think she was new. She had to ask other guy to help and he didn't really seem happy about being disturbed. read more

I went into the West Elm in Fairfax, VA and my husband and I fell in love with the "Meadow" rug. Unfortunately, that store didn't have it in stock and neither and stores nearby. Fine, right...just order online. Nope, it was on backorder until November. Well, I called the Baltimore store and of course they didn't have it, but Alley suggested that I call some stores out of state and have them ship it to my home. I didn't even know this was an option because the other stores didn't offer that information. At the end, I was able to find it in Atlanta, GA and they are shipping to my home. Wonderful furniture but deceptive sales practices using the promise of reward dollars that seem too good to be true. They are unusable and confusing. The store sales staff says one thing. Online another and customer service yet another. Esther in customer service hung up on me. I like the product but if you publish and promote that there is a reward system you should be able to explain it. Very disappointed in my experience there and I spent several thousand dollars there and was treated poorly. It will take a significant explanation and actual use of the reward dollars to get me to shop there again. We await a response but will most likely not believe anything we are promised as there is a serious case of deceptive practices going on here. Every time I come in here (and it's more often than I care to admit) I get such poor assistance, I just wind up going online. I came in a few months ago to buy a couch and the person I asked for help with understanding the different models and styles went to the computer and showed me what they had. Online. But I was in the store. And the same couches were in the store. I asked about different colors and materials and she pretty much told me I could find all those details on their website. Sooo, I went home and bought the couch online. Another time I went in to look for some throw pillows to put on my West Elm couch (that I bought online, sight unseen, with no guidance from the West Elm associates) and when I told the person working there what I was looking for she said, "We might have some upstairs..." No offer to show me where, just vague reference to some random location. I can appreciate a non-pushy salesperson but I don't know how to take the indifference of the folks that work there. It's nice to have a showroom to see everything live, but it looks like I'll just use the store to see what I want to purchase when I get back home and go to their website. read more

The customer service at this store is truly lacking. While I have been a fan of West Elm's online store for quite some time, I wouldn't recommend visiting this location. The store associate that we dealt with was uxtrememly unpleasant and difficult to work with. When we arrived at the store at 7:10 for our in-store pickup (and also to place an additional order for a sectional), we were told that 'they don't do pickups after 7 pm' even though the store is open until 8 pm. After multiple heavy sighs and exaggerated remarks of 'I'm going to have to find your item I don't even know where it is', the associate agreed to locate the item for pickup but told us if we didn't have our truck parked by 7:40 at the pick up garage then it would be too late. Associate also made us feel as though placing an order for a new item was going to be a hassle even though the store was open for almost another full hour and we came prepared with all item details. He had a very pretentious attitude and made us feel as though we should be apologetic for arriving to order furniture and pick up an item within 1 hour of closing time. read more

Love their products, but the customer service in the store could use improvement. I stopped in on a Sunday - there were a fair number of people there, but for a weekend it wasn't unusually busy. No one offered assistance while my husband and I looked around the store (and I'm pretty ok with that part - I hate furniture stores where you're swarmed by salespeople). We went to the front desk to purchase an area rug and a lamp. The rug was in stock and someone was called to retrieve it relatively quickly, but it was dumped at the front desk with no one to help get it into my car. The lamp was not in stock and the store could not sell the display. I was directed to a computer where I could order it and have it shipped to my home - how convenient. But when I got through the process of entering all of my information, I saw that I was going to be charged $17 in shipping. I said that I would wait for them to come back in stock in the store, but the sales person couldn't tell me when or even if that would happen. I've never been to a brick and mortar store that won't ship for free (even to the store to be picked up later) a product that's not in stock...or a store that won't sell a display version of something they may never carry in the store again. Also, the prices between the store, the catalog sitting at the register, and the website were inconsistent on almost every item we viewed. Make sure you check online before purchasing something in the store. You can often get 15% off online that may offset your shipping costs. Overall, the sales people just seemed totally indifferent to everything and weren't particularly helpful. I'll probably continue to shop West Elm, but will stick with the website over the store unless there's something I really want to view in person before purchasing. read more
