Recently went into this place for the first time to seek treatment for my back pain. I've had back pain for the longest time and when I went in, the staff and especially Dr. Yang tried his best to help me out. He consulted me and told me that I had a lot of tension on my back and my neck. After, I was escorted into a room and Dr. Yang put some needles on my back and it was surprisingly painless. I felt very relaxed. Then, I got a massage by a woman named Joann and she was amazing. I felt the tension on my back and neck go away. I am definitely coming back here to get treatment again. Despite the negative comments I gave this place a try and it's not bad as others say it is... I too have been poked with pen looking needles but despite the language barrier the doctor has explained it to me clearly why it was better then the acupuncture.... as "Jennifer" complained about the 20% and paying $25... it is because of copay which is pretty normal for clinics. It depends on what insurance you have and how much it covers.. It says its originally $85 on yelp and gives 20% off for first timer!!! So I don't know why she is bashing as if she has been ripped off. It isn't "some arbitrary number" as she thinks it is. It upsets me that some yelp reviewer will complain about great companies and give them bad name because they don't even try to communicate instead they just want to receive royal treatments. Over all this was the cleanest place I've experienced that's near by and the staffs are friendly and tries to explain to their best knowledge on why and what they are doing. PS. I wanted help regulating my periods, so I decided to go to Dr. Cho. I've lost about 35 lbs in the last year, and this has helped my problem. I've started to plateau a bit, and thought maybe acupuncture might help. I went to Dr. Cho twice. The first visit was $80, $60 for each consecutive visit. I gave up after this, since I felt like it was a waste of time and money. Dr. Cho seems really caring and I wanted to like him and wanted acupuncture to work. I really did. However, his instructions were very vague, and quite frankly, I thought he sounded like a complete quack. He told me to take a bath after our first session, "Fill the bathtub with water, very hot water, but only up to your waist." Please tell me what sense this makes. Not sure how much of this was due to the language barrier. He also told me to try to lose weight. Did he not listen to my story about 35 lbs that I lost? Shit, why do you think I'm here? I also felt like he knew that I make decent money and was trying to get more out of me. Seemed like there were a whole lot of extras. Herbs were and additional $20 per dose. He wanted me to see him 3x a week. Really? Who could afford this? One word: disappointing. read more

Amazing experiance! I was struggling with neck pain , I decided to try West Acupuncture and I am so glad I did. MK is very insightful and knowledgeable. The facility is conveniently located, plenty of street parking and it is very relaxing and spotlessly clean. They accept health insurances and have very reasonable rates. I was pretty disappointed in this place. After getting excited that this place was close to home and covered by my insurance I decided to make an initial appointment for weight loss. I wrongly assumed there was a standard consultation process but my visit was short, informal and I couldn't understand the doctor. "MJ," while nice and all, was very nervous and asked me lots of questions. He came up with the conclusion that my pancreas was really strong and my kidneys were week therefore I would need to "detox" to balance it out. He didn't stick any needles in me but instead used this very painful metal pen that has a needle it in and he would prick me on my body multiple times. It hurt really bad--like wasp stings. Then the procedure was over, which took maybe 15 minutes and I couldn't understand him and he left. He mentioned something about discussing my diet and exercising but never came back to the room. I went to the receptionist, confused, and asked if he was going to come back to discuss diet. She looked perplexed and said she didn't know about that, but figured it would be the same diet recommendations and printed out a sheet of things not to eat. She didn't bother to go ask the doctor. Then, even though I gave her my insurance ahead of my appointment (a couple days prior) for verification, she lost my info and didn't know what to charge. I told her I was responsible for 20% of the cost and asked what the total was, since I had already called my insurance ahead of time to verify the coverage. Rather than tell me the total she said she will just charge me $25... Some arbitrary number... and I'm sure not 20% of the cost of that 15 minute treatment. My insurance told me Acupuncture businesses often overcharge and the insurance pays you back so I assume that will be the case. I just left feeling confused and not certain what "treatment" I received. I won't be coming back. read more

Dr. Cho is the real deal! For years I have had severe shoulder pain with no explanation as far as western medicine could offer. Trying to be open minded, I gave acupuncture a try and it's great. I have a workers comp case and I went to a very subpar acupuncturist. It was horrible. I'm so grateful I found Dr. Yang at West Acupuncture. The moment I walked in, I noticed the office was peaceful and clean - already ten times better than the first place I was sent to. Everyone at West Acupuncture is really kind and nice. I received massage and acupuncture. They really took their time with me. And the massage ladies, Joy and Sonnie, really helped me a lot! The massage combined with the acupuncture was like magic. I was referred to Dr. Yang by a friend of mine who had the similar shoulder pain that I had. Initially, I was reluctant to take a long drive since I was skeptical about its effect but decided to give it a try. On the first session Dr Yang explained about the procedure and suggested the acupuncture on my shoulder. He put a several needles on my shoulder and let me rest for 15 minutes. Dr. Cho has magic hands I swear! I have to first start off by saying that I was in a really bad car accident almost two years ago and have tried chiropractic care, massage therapy, and pain killers to try to alleviate the excruciating pain I've lived with all day and every day. I finally decided after walking past Dr. Cho's office all the time to go in and do a consultation. I instantly felt a connection with Dr. Cho. He really empathized with me and what I was going thru. When I would go see my regular physician he would just tell me to toughen up and give me some pain killers. Dr. Cho was very patient, thorough, and intelligent and realized that the route of my pain was coming from my stomach. I have been in so much pain from my back and neck for such a long time that my pain turned into frustration, frustration turned into depression, depression turned into anxiety and my stomach was a mess! I decided to do a 10 treatment package with herbs, cupping, and acupuncture and started feeling relief after my second treatment! I have to admit that I was a bit of a baby at first because I hate needles! But Dr. Cho is so gentle and sensitive that he made each treatment very comfortable for me. Nasty comments were made about my weight despite being a regular healthy weight for my height according to traditional medicine. I'm a kinesiology student at CSULB so I'm constantly working out and playing sports. I've been experiencing some back pains from lifting and basketball so my dad recommended me to Dr.Howard at West Accupuncture since he has an office in Long Beach, right by the convention center. First thing I got was a warm greeting from the receptionist and I headed to the massage room and Kiet blessed me with a much needed fully body massage. It was crazy how Dr.Howard knew I had some neck problems just by just looking at my posture. The needles barely hurt and he worked on my neck as well as my back. I was initially feeling sore from the massage but after a couple days it definitely felt better and noticed the increased ROM on my back.
