Rooster's Old Forge…read more The fries were absolutely perfect, crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The Figgy Burger was likely the best burger I've ever had at a restaurant. The bun alone was outstanding. Excellent fusion of flavors. Everyone else in our group ordered the Classic Burger, and every single person had great things to say about it. If you're in Old Forge or even passing through Utica, Rooster's is absolutely worth the stop.

Restaurant the minute you walk in reminds me of my high school years complete with school cafeteria chairs, pictures of Charlie's Angels on the wall, a tv with looped shows from the 70's and 80's... We ate at One Genny once before, a couple of months ago, and while the server was sort of snooty,…read morethe food was pretty tasty - we had a salad and a pasta dish, both of them worth the price paid. So, today we decided to get take out from there, ordering a hamburger, medium, with sweet potato fries (additional charge), and an eggplant parm sub with hot peppers (another additional charge). Upon arriving home, we found that there were no peppers on the sub, and the sub roll was stale (although the eggplant tasted good). The burger was overcooked, extremely well done, and therefore tasteless, served on a burned bun. The sweet potato fries were glommed together and cold, also totally tasteless, as if they'd just been defrosted from a package of frozen fries. On reading other reviews it appears that we are not the only ones to complain about the food quality, as well as missing items on to-go orders. After our first visit we had hoped to make this a regular place to eat, but after today's experience we don't want to risk it.

If you're ever stuck in Vernon, NY you can't go wrong by stopping by the 3 Bastards Brewery and soaking in the local hospitality...and a great beer.

**Good Food, Disappointing Billing Practices and Customer Service**…read more The food was good, and I have no complaints about the quality of the meal. Unfortunately, the billing experience and the way my concern was handled left a bad taste in my mouth. My bill was approximately $93. I paid $88 in cash and put the small remaining balance on my credit card. Despite paying nearly the entire bill in cash, I was charged a credit card processing fee calculated on the entire bill, rather than just the amount charged to my card. When I questioned this, the gentleman behind the bar responded, "What's the problem? It looks right to me." Well, here's the problem: Why should I pay a credit card processing fee on $88 that I just handed you in cash? Rather than argue over a few dollars, I deducted the difference from the tip and went on my way. It's not the amount of money that bothers me. It's the principle, along with the dismissive attitude toward a customer who raised what I believe was a legitimate billing concern. A simple explanation, acknowledgment, or willingness to look into it would have made all the difference. Good food is important, but so is treating customers fairly and respectfully. Unfortunately, this experience was enough to make me take my business elsewhere. There are plenty of other places to enjoy a good meal. Maybe next time I'll try The Bunker in Verona. **You didn't lose a customer over a few dollars. You lost one over how you handled the complaint.**
