Wings are amazing. Service not so much. Got there at 9:30, bartender served us drinks and then informed us at 9:40 that the kitchen closed at 9:30. Very strange and slightly comical. Don't trust the hours listed because it says they are open until 11. Luckily we were meeting someone there and they were willing to share their wings with us. If the wings weren't so good I wouldn't go back. read more

Buffalo wings are really good but because they charge extra for sauce and blue cheese i think they are slightly higher in price than I think they should be. read more

This place is great if u love wings. If service decor or speed are important ... Try someplace else. They have never done anything to the inside of the restaurant 1970 died in here and its not super clean but its a townie dive the owners don't really seem to care and their attitude is about the same the wings however... Are expensive but they are Some of the best around! read more

I love Wendell's!! The wings are seriously the best. Be prepared to wait 45 minutes for your food and pay via cash only (all of which are stated on the menu)! It's a small hole in the wall with 1 cook, but seriously it is worth it. Best wings I've had read more

To start off my friends and I got some fries and it was delicious. But once our food came out I was ready to dive into my shepherds pie. Turns out it was frozen and put in the oven for like 10 minutes and when I went to put my fork in it I can hear how frozen .. It was ice cold when the food was brought out to me.. I told my waitress to bring it back and I was waiting for a while for them to bring it back out. But while waiting my friends have already finished their food and I just didn't want anything else. Very unfortunate that is has happened because I was told that this place is a great place. I will not be returning to this place at all. I gave this place one star because the fries were just delicious. read more

Just had a terrible experience at Wendell's. I was there for over an hour just to get an order of wings (their specialty) and a drink. It was late afternoon and only 3 other tables were occupied. I was getting ready to walk out because the food took so long when the wings finally arrived. The waitress dropped them at the table and ran off. I ate a couple because I was starving. The wings were burnt (actually black) and dried out. It took me 10 minutes to get the attention of the server who tried to tell me there was nothing wrong and the wings should be crispy as they are cooked for 15 minutes. She did offer to get us a new order but we didn't have that much time. She came back with the check and said that we would only be charged half because we ate half of them. Big mistake. Everyone can have a bad day, but when you handle complaints properly, you don't get the bad review on Yelp. read more

They don't take credit cards or debit cards (WTF???), the place hasn't seen a coat of paint, or a new chair or booth or table in probably 40 years. it's dark and dreary and looks in disrepair. the beer is expensive for the atmosphere. but they have the best flipping wings I've ever had. if you like hot wings, start with the extra spicy and go from there...they are hot but not record setting. if you are a little less daring then go for the 3.5's...a little heat but a lot of flavor. read more

I have been coming here for years, the wings are normal size(no hormones) and the sauce is amazing! Regulars are great if you want a little kick and from there it gets spicier. Great local spot, it also gets busy with take out orders, be prepared for a wait. read more

My review is only about the wings. You want wings...come here...get the 3.5's well done...EPIC. Cash only

Amazing wings! I've been coming here for years and never had a negative experience! The chili is to die for and I can never make up my mind between boneless or bone in wings! I was reading some of the reviews and had to comment... People say it's slow service and complains about it being cash only but the menu states it has one chef and two fryolaters and it's always busy because it's that good! So yes the service is slightly on the slower side but it's worth the wait! Just relax and have fun with your friends and family and enjoy the amazing food!! read more

You do not get greeted at the door, waitresses dont assist you at all, you just kind of stand there for 2 hours until a table is open. While waiting, a table had been waiting 40 min for their check. We waited so long so why bother leaving now, we wanted to give it a try. We finally sat down. TERRIBLE service. Wouldn't ask us if we needed anything or wanted refills. Took a half hour just to get some fries and atleast an hour for just some wings. The wings were just okay. Burger King has better boneless wings and the regular chicken wings were just eh, and so tiny. There were also a few of my boyfriends wings not cooked all the way and he is now getting sick in the bathroom. Not worth the price you pay or the wait. We also were seated before a few people waiting in line behind us and somehow they got their food first when all we ordered was wings. Alot of empty space in the room too. Fill up the room with tables, hire another cook, hire better waitresses and get the ball rolling. You are losing money by your slow service. No wonder why they charge for every little thing. You'll probably be charged 2 bucks for wanting extra napkins (JK) but seriously, I know the locals rave about it, but its not all its cracked up to be. Sorry but we won't be returning. read more

THE GREATEST chicken wings/tenders of ALL TIME!!!! I love that menu is set up with a dart theme.

Just to give you an idea i made this yelp account just to warn people how bad this place is. I heard how good the wings were here and i think their secret is making you wait so long that by the time the food gets to you your so hungry that anything would be good. And when i say a long time i mean a long, very long wait for very mediocre food at best. Its not just the food too, we were sat at a dirty table and served yellow water. read more

The place is a small local watering hole. There is no flare or shining signs, nothing fancy, its old and plain. What makes this place a legendary bar, is its Buffalo wings. The best!!! That's all I need to say. It can take up to 1 hour to see your food as the kicken is the size of a closet but it is well worth the wait. There also known for their burgers and Kale soup. 20 years of patronage and not one change, great place, great food, THE BEST WINGS, can't beat it. read more

Best wings I've had. The tastiest sauce I've ever tried. The hottest sauce actually has taste to it and not just pain like a lot of other ones. read more

Love me some Wendell's! This place is the reason Triple D exists: a place most people would drive right by never knowing what they are missing out on. Keep in mind boneless buffalo wings aren't real wings in the first place so spare yourself the lameness and order some real wings. Divey with a touch of 1970's "ambience" but clean and friendly service. OK for kids in early evening but after that it goes more into bar mode, they love the jukebox. read more

Great food. The BEST wings I've ever had. But because i am REPEATEDLY hung up on when I try to call and order it is VERY frustrating. I once called 6 times in a row and I was hung up on everytime. So I went in to order in person figuring it was busy. It was not busy. Just called 2 times in a row 1/10/15, 5pm and was hung up on both times(I heard someone pick up the phone and then the click of it hanging up. The food is great, no question, but I don't really like getting hung up on multiple times. read more

Great for just wings. Not a great beer selection and they have not updated the place since it opened. They do a lot of take out but if they could update it with more/better seating it will be a great place for the casual eater and families. read more

Wendell's gets 5 stars in my book for the best buffalo wings hand down. Really great fries and onion rings as well. The service here is awful, always. I don't mind waiting awhile for great food, but I'd at least expect our server to be somewhat friendly or at least check back on our table for drink refills etc. That being said, no matter the service I will keep going back to Wendell's because they really do have the best buffalo wings. read more

Dive bar that happens to serve wings. They will charge you for everything, blue cheese and a refill on a soda. The wait staff, although not very busy, still managed to ignore our needs while they sat at an empty booth with smartphones in hand. The food is ok at best, and it's cash only. read more

Best little wings around. Always crispy, always sauced to perfection and never disappointing. Best part about this place is consistency. You get the same wings and fries every time, no surprises. Only suggestion I would make is stick to what brought you there and you will be back. Wings, fries and cold beer. No need for a menu! read more

My favorite place for wings. Service can be slow if it's busy because they only have one person cooking but it's always worth it.

The Buffalo Wing sauce is out of this world, the wings themselves well they must buy the cheapest smallest wings possible. Then again that sauce they are bathed in I would eat anything... read more

On the wings and he wings only. The wings hit a few important traditional recipe points. First, no breading, just crispy skin. Second is the wings are not the roided-up monsters that are closer to legs in size and far from tender. I acknowledge some complaints here on the normal size wings because a lot of restaurants use roid wings, but as a personal prefefence, they have the crispy/saucy to meat ratio right on target if you're seeking the traditional style. Third, the sauces are again faithful to the original recipe, though different levels of heat look visibly different, they don't stray too far from Cayenne sauce and butter in the taste department. If you like the traditional Buffalo recipe, this is a great place to get some wings. read more

This place supposedly is well known for their chicken wings. We decided we had to find out what everyone was raving about. Definitely not impressed. It's a small place, a little run down. If you want your wings really hot (spicy) they can do that for you. But beers are expensive and the wings way overpriced and nothing special. Obviously a great place for the college kids from Wheaton to hang out or young people who don't care about the prices. Not impressed at all. read more

Yum but not the best. The tenders and wings were crispy but in my opinion had a different./slighlty weird buffalo taste.

Went here with some friends to get some wings. The wings were cooked perfectly and the sauces were really good. The downside is that the quality of the chicken was a little lacking. The wings seem like they barely had much meat on many of the bones. Also, for the price I believe there are better places to get some wings. I enjoyed the sauce and will come back if friends are coming, but I won't make a special trip. read more

Great wings, but the place could use a bit of an update to its 70's decor. Its really a weird space. Once you walk in it feels like a joint from the deep south. If they knocked down the wall to the bar and opened it up, it would feel more inviting. Hang some flat screens and you really would have it going on. Until then eat the wings and head to another place before you start hearing banjo's! read more

Service is beyond horrible. Slow and bad attitudes. Quality and portions are VERY inconsistent. Sure the blue cheese dip is good, but not great and ridiculously overpriced especially considering it's complimentary everywhere else. Sometimes they'll let the phone ring forever and sometimes they're out of wings. The wings are oily and bone in are very small. They have a really terrible service record with service dogs so we no longer give them business. There are much better wings with infinitely better service locally without going to a chain read more

Have eaten here before with success but decided to take my two sisters, wife , and brother in law out to try it on 5/31/14. The service was so horrible we left a $5 tip. I odered the 3.5's which I have eaten before. They were so spicy, almost uneatable. My brother in laws wings came out cold and the waitress argued with him on how cold they were. After sending them back they were brought back to us 25 min later so he took them to go. $130 for 5 of us. $21x2 a pitcher for Harpoon, $1.50x3 extra for blue cheese without celery. I felt compelled to apolijise to my family for such a horrible time. Stay away on busy weekend nights. Point Blank read more

Went the other day and got a wing that was a thin strip of meat away from being served a bone! All the other wings were small as well. This pace is going down hill fast. Get the sauce and bring it home to make your own. read more

The most oily "wings" I've had. It hurts me to even call them wings. They looked like bagged pre cooked chicken fingers you would buy at the supermarket. The burger (aka hockey puck)was also a joke. This food could possibly be "good" after 12 beers or so:) don't waste your time. read more

Walked in with 3 adults and 1 baby was told "sit where there is room" and then when I asked for a booster seat or high chair was told "ahhhh no we don't have any---and just so you know it's going to be a 45min wait for food" thanks for the great customer service (insert sarcasm) not sure why they state family friendly when it's not. Left immediately. Won't be back. read more

This place definitely went down hill.. puny wings and so salty.. can't call and order to go cause they can't hear you.. bad service..

Stay away! Take it from a local who has lived in town for his whole life, this place is terrible. I do like their sauce but the wings are so tiny and expensive it isn't worth your time. However the worst part is the service. The wait times are crazy and the waitresses are literally ABUSIVE. I hardly ever take the time to write a review but after my last experience I will never go back, and I highly recommend you don't either read more

The Buffalo Wings (both bone in and boneless) are excellent. All other items at average at best. Beer variety is poor. Cash only is a pain. And the service is the slowest in the area. Hope you like eating in paper plates. read more

The wings are great but the value is not! I'd read a lot about the great buffalo wings here so I went the other day to check it out. The wings were indeed excellent - tasty and cooked perfectly. That said, it was about $7.45 for about ten small wings (which were not even close to filling me) and THEY CHARGED AN EXTRA $1.50 FOR DIPPING SAUCE!!!! I can't think of anyplace that I've ever been that charged extra for basic sauce for buffalo wings...maybe if you wanted extra sauce or some other funky sauce, but not for the basic blue cheese sauce. With the tip included it cost me $11 for a small order of wings that didn't even fill me up. Also, there was one waitress and about 25 people in the place so while the waitress worked hard everything moverd very slowly. read more

What a dump! And over priced for not so good food! They serve wings from what looks like they were from market basket freezer section, little dry crappy things. The sauce isn't terrible, but can't make up for the bad bird. The service was surprisingly good however. Better wings with larger portions and less money can be had at your local chili's. Skip this place. read more

Wings are awesome. Only one complaint. One of the seven of us didn't get their wings with the rest of us. Some lame excuse was given and we waited an extra 15 minutes for the last person to be served. Place is a dive but the wings are worth dealing with the ambiance and wait. Bring a deck of cards or your darts for the wait. read more

Despite all the other reviews, I thought this place sucked. The service was so so, the wait for food was ridiculous (and NOT worth it). The wings looked like they came from starving pigeons. I had the chicken supreme sandwich which was nothing more than a preformed chicken patty that you get at the supermarket. My wife's cheeseburger was again a preformed supermarket item and the cheese wasn't even melted. To all the reviewers who thought the wings were great, you really need to get out more often! read more
