My wings were about half the size of those pictured here , stringy and tough. 45 minute wait for food and too $$$$. The sauce was good but doesn't make up for the quality. read more

Seriously, step back into the 50's when you go into Wendell's. You really only need to know 2 things. !. They don't take credit/debit cards. Seriously? If I had known that I would have never walked in. They have an "atm" in the bar, just in case you want to give them an extra $5. I was lucky enough I make sure I have some cash on hand, but seriously get with the millennia. 2. They are a crazy rip off. I ordered wings, onion rings, 1 beer and diet coke. Obviously the Diet Coke is not free refills, just like the 1950's. My meal came to $29.25. That is just totally absurd. Now if you are a drinker and aren't going to order soda, you might not care about that. But don't bother bringing non drinkers. Now the wings themselves are pretty good. The reason I went. I'd still choose buffalo wild wings over them because of their variety and the fact they realize what millennia we are in. The onion rings were real beer battered, if just a little thin and the order was on the skimpy side. This is really too bad, because I literally live within walking distance of this place. No idea how the place is still in business. They nickel and dime you to death, which I was afraid of just looking at the menu, but $29 for what I ordered is what I would expect in a 5 star super expensive trendy bar, not a local hole in the wall pub. I've gotten good 3 course meals for less than that. Obviously I am never going back. Oh well, live and learn. I would love to have a receipt to see what exactly they charged me for, but I guess that is a pipe dream. read more

Wendels is still the best, but.... I agree with several other comments that the wings have gotten even smaller and overcooked, which is one of the reasons we don't go as often as we used to. Even the basket of fries has gotten smaller which is a real shame. A few things I have learned going there: Eat a salad before hand, this will help you out A LOT then next day and also put some food in your stomach while you wait at the restaurant. Try to sit at the bar, it's more fun and you can get drinks faster. If you order some of the spicier wings, also get some sissy sassy boneless wings. The soft buttery contrast to wicked hot wings is amazing. Dip your fries in the hot sauce (management, please bring back the bigger baskets of fries). Try a Wendel burger. Check out Sporty's down the road afterwards; possibly even more of a dive bar with bands, a pool table, a mix of different ages - possibly where people go if they have been shut off at Wendels (which is quite difficult). read more

Blah. Previously frozen wings absolutely DRENCHED in sauce, soggy and disgusting and for that price?! never again. Place doesnt even accept credit cards. Id rather get my wings from a pizza joint. read more

I will never go here again. Wings were amazing BUT they charge you for everything, even .30 to take it Togo. They charge you for the ranch that goes with your wings, they wait till you're mouth is on fire and then charge you to refill your drink. Plus the old lady waitress was a douche, menopause is serious with her. read more

The wings are really small but the sauce is amazing! I just wish the wings had more meat on them. The service is bad and it's a hole in the wall but I go back for the wing sauce :) read more

Used to love this place. So I was going to get a wendell's gift certificate for someone for Christmas . I live in Norwell now so I don't go out of my way for it . Called last night to ask if they were open today (Christmas eve). When I called I was greeted with "WENDELLS" wicked loud and so I asked hi just wondering if you're open tomorrow ... "YUP!" Then I asked if they do gift certificates and he says "YUP!" Well guess what it's 4 o clock and the door is locked, drove over an hour in traffic for no reason, and my gift is ruined . What were they open 2 hours?! It would have helped if he didn't hang up before I could ask what time they were "open". Every time I used to go there the service was painfully slow I'm sorry... So done with this place what a joke ! read more

This was the worst service i have ever experienced with Kathy the bartender..not only did i need to ask her to clear our plates after 30mins..but she hands us our check. We were going to continue to have more than 1 beer so instead of giving Kathy the bartender a bigger tip on our $37 tab.. we went somewhere else and spent our money where we were treated better. Nor did she use her manners - I got better treatment at the McDonald's drive thru. Thank you Kathy the bartender i will never come back to such a shitty service regardless if the wings are to die for. read more

Went there to pick up buff garlic wings never have been before won't b back again !! First off they weren't what I asked for there was no taste of buff they were really quite awful ! I paid 9.40 for 6 small pieces of boneless chicken!! Very disappointed I've got better tasting chicken at a drive- thru !! Waste of my gas money and time!!! read more

I really recommend the wings, some of the better ones out in Massachusetts. The only downside is the insanely slow service. We were in a big rush and needed a quick bite to eat, this was not the place to go. read more

Great wings, plan to spend at least an hour and don't go in starving because they have a small kitchen.

If you love crispy hot wings that are hotter than the sun, then you have come to the right place. I hear the non-spicy ones are good also, but I have no experience with them. Make sure you get an order of fries to go with them..... Sissy - Buttery and Garlic and yellowish Sassy - At lease they are orangish.. Regular - basecamp, would be hot at any other place 3.5 - Very enjoyable and you can feel your tongue afterwards. Extra Spicy - Not for the faint of heart, but they are my favorite. Suicides - Great to get one order for the group... --------------- Double Dares - You do not want to go there...trust me. (not on the menu, you have to ask and have been at wendells before...) read more

Best wings I've ever had hands down. Great pub style atmosphere keeps it simple and real. Best bet is the 3.5's or the extra spiceys seated at the bar. Expect a wait during normal busy times - its well worth the wait however. read more

Hands down, the best buffalo wings I've ever had. I live 30 minutes away, and my friends and I make a special trip to Wendell's on a regular basis just for the wings - they're that good! I do agree with the complaints posted by several other people regarding price - Wendell's wings are not cheap. I usually get two orders of wings and a couple of beers (by no means an over-the-top feast) and the bill comes out north of $20.00 As far as pub food goes, this is no bargain. Also, just FYI, the service and ambiance leave a LOT to be desired. I've been to Anchor Bar in Buffalo (the origin and Shangri-La of buffalo wings) and I actually prefer Wendell's! Bottom line: this place is definitely worth a try. read more

Staff was friendly enough and the atmosphere was homey. I ordered wings to go as I had read many good things about them after moving to the neighborhood in 2010. The wings were really overcooked and I was very disappointed at the miserly portions. I could live with 10 pieces per order IF the wings were bigger. These looked like pigeon wings and were overcooked to boot. I am highly disappointed after reading so many good reviews. I hate to be a negative Nancy but I can't recommend Wendell's if your primary goal noshing on wings to dream about. If you are looking for a fun place to have a drink or two...then...I'd say you are in the right place. read more

Crap Service! Took 40mins to get wings, these are considered appetizers at restaurants! The waiter was awful, The soda ran out of syrup and should be quick a fix... it took 30mins before the waiter came back to tell us they couldnt change the syrup and asked for another choice....... The wings came 40-50mins after we placed the order we where told it would be 1lb of wings it was not, all the wings where TINY and mostly bone, some of the worse wings Ive ever seen. None of my 3 party members including me where not even close to full. Maybe 8 small wings? Its only wings! I mean what would it cost to have a side of celery like 3 small pieces to help use 1.50$ Blue cheese you have to buy on the side..... The waiter never checked back once after she dropped the wings off! I mean its buffalo wings check if your guests want a refill on a beverage! The waiter never came back for the bill we had to ask a completely different waiter who was clearing tables off for our bill! The waiter must of been more pertained to possible friends at the bar or something rather than attending to her guests..... . read more

Wendell's may have the best wing's in the country!!!!! Amazing wings, great service, great prices!!! Must visit if in the area! Definitely recommend to all who love wings! read more

The wait was too long (50 min) for some terrible food. The wings smelled like they had been cooked in old/burnt oil, and it was inedible. When we tasted the wings and made a complaint the waitress said that it was what we ordered, and she wouldn't refund us money, or allow us to order another food item off the menu in exchange for the wings!! Would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!!! read more

I ordered food over the phone and they told me 45 mins. I waited and hour and 15 mins to leave my house. When I got there I paid for my meal and they told me it would be right out. Thats was 30 mins later. The pick up is at the bar where everyone was watching football. I brought my 10 yrs old with me thinking we would be in and out. While we were waiting, guys at the bar were swearing and screaming. This place disgust me and will never go again! read more

The price gouging is amazing. No free refills on soda, you pay for a side blue cheese or ranch (normally comes free at any other place), and if you want the double dare or suicide sauce you pay an extra $3.50 for the sauce!! That is new. As always, cash only. Last time I went (a week ago, I found them to be stingy on the sauce in general. Definitely don't go like I used to, better wings else where and don't spend nearly the amount of money as I do there. read more

5 Boneless wings $8.29 a bit pricey tasted a-ok I got the 2nd least hot sauce which was the good part. Didn't really care for the fries and the 3 oz side of cheese for $1.50 extraz Small bar with regulars, parking lot, plain white exterior, a few tvs, service was a-ok. read more

Went here at the suggestion of a friend. They're honest about their food ticket times, they are slow, but worth it. They were moderately busy and I felt by the time I ordered my "extra spicy" wings, I was easily 5th in line at the fryolator. I actually forgot to ask for extra crispy, but no matter, the wings were perfectly cooked. My only issue was I didn't like how tiny the wings were. The sauce was tasty, but at first not very spicy. But three wings in, the heat accumulated, and I was very satisfied. read more

You won't find a place that has less respect for their customers. And people keep going back anyway because the wings are "sooooo good". Except they aren't. Be sure to call ahead so that they can hang up on you. Extra charge for the bleu cheese; imagine ordering a burger and getting charged for ketchup. read more

Busy Sunday, typically extremely short staffed. Stood at the door for 10 minutes with everyone in the restaurant staring at you awkwardly while we were staring at a empty booth waiting for it to be cleared. Was not acknowledged once by anyone even though the waitresses were in and out many times. Sat ourselves at the table and the second we did it was like all of a sudden we existed and were asked to stand up for her to clean it. Stood up and walked out. Anyone who knows wendells knows the service is absolute trash it's the chicken you go for but today was enough. read more

I'm ONLY giving Wendell's 4 stars because their wings are awesome, everything else sucks! LOL-seriously, it's like eating in an old VFW hall, but I suppose it's part of their charm. The place is always packed. I always laugh at the type of people this place attracts...NORMAL people. It's got to be the biggest dump with the least amount of overhead in all of Massachusetts, but normal folk such as myself head there in droves! You can't even watch a game in here because there's one tv at the bar and up until last year, they had 13 inch black and white tv in the dining area which appeared to need rabbit ears to work. At around this time as well they FINALLY moved from giving you 100 ketchup packets to actually putting bottles of ketchup on the table. Oh and I hope you're not expecting Heinz because this is the generic brand ketchup. Are you catching my drift here? DIVE. Anyways, I love Wendell's. The wings are fantastic and probably the hottest I've had. The crinkle cut fries are awesome as are the onion rings. The prices aren't cheap though. You pay I think about $8 for a dozen wings and fries AND blue cheese are extra. So you're talking $13 when all is said and done or $15 if you get onion rings. The service here is also pretty bad. There tends to be two of the same waitresses everytime I go....one is super nice and one is super cranky and I'm pretty sure would punch you in the face if you so much as asked for a lemon in your diet coke. Again, part of the charm? There's a dart board on the wall which always seems to attract the same biker-esque crew playing it. There's no waiting area. It's literally first come, first serve, fight your way to the first open table and hope you don't loose a finger in the process. I'm probably making this place sound horrible, but grab your hoodie and your loosest and crappiest pair of jeans and head over. Oh, and by the way, if you're so inclined, grab a glow in the dark condom from the condom dispenser in the bathroom. Ridiculous. read more

Best place to get chicken wings, I have been going here for years. This is one of the few places I have found that don't bread the wings. For people who like spicy food, the wings flavor selection is top notch. There is only one cook, one grill, and two fryolators so the wait can get long if it is crowded but it is 100% worth it everytime. The place is a bit outdated but if you are looking for excellent wings, I highly recommend trying out Wendells's. read more

Pitchers of Harpoon are $24! Are you kidding me!? And the service sucks. Waited 10 minutes just to get seated. Only one server to perform bus duties, waiting, serving, etc. Madness? This is Wendell's. read more

Wendell's officially earns the dubious distinction of having the most dreadful service on planet earth. To begin, the water provided had a slight yellow tint that wouldn't be found in most 3rd world countries. If a waitress with an IQ rivaling a monogloid and an insufferable waiting time for average wings are what you desire, this is the place for you. The only redeeming aspect of the entire experience was amazing hot sauce. I feel compelled to write this review not as a criticism of Wendell's, but rather as a humane gesture to not allow any human being to be subjected to this place. read more

Wings are amazing and service was really good. Definitely worth a special trip. The only down checks are over priced beer and they are cash only. read more

Everything you read here about the ambiance, service and wait time is correct. Deal with it. These are the best wings in the world, and it isn't particularly close. Bring some friends, order a pitcher, and sit back and enjoy the spectacle. It will all make sense when the lid comes off the wooden bowl to reveal the devilish decadence within. read more

Not worth it. First and foremost , it is a complete dive bar. Horrible lighting, most likely to hide how dirty and grungy the place actually is. If you have to use the bathroom , I'd advise against it. You will feel dirtier after using it. I can't speak for all the wait staff, but our bartender, who wasn't particularly busy mid day, was very non attentive. I witnessed a simple customer complaint being handled in a complete inappropriate manner( bartender being extremely rude)! Then witnessed this bartender speaking to random patrons rudely about this customer after there departure so everyone could hear. The 1 star I will give this place is for there wing sauce, but $5 drafts and $3 blue cheese is being a little greedy. A simple afternoon lunch $50 for 2, a little steep. Wouldn't recommend read more

Over an hour and fifteen minutes to get wings. The wings were probably the worst buffalo wings I have ever had and I have had BAD chicken wings. I ordered a water as did my friend for his child. The waitress forgot to bring the child's water so she grabbed a glass and poured half my glass of water into the other glass for the child without even asking. As hungry as we were we all left the majority of our wings on the table, I ate three and that's two more than the average person at our table. We brought two friends there and have been apologizing to them since then. I wouldn't eat here again if I was paid to. I only give it one star because there isn't a rating lower. read more

I really think people say they like the wings here because they think they have to, it being such a "legendary place." I thought the wings were just bones, couldn't find any meat on them at all. Sorry, Wendell's spend a little more money and get meatier wings. read more

We finally went and checked this place out after talking about it for awhile. It was a Monday afternoon around 3 PM, only a few cars in the parking lot. We walked inside and were instantly struck by how odd shaped it was- big open room out front, little bar in the back. The front room was empty so we went to the bar- there were 3 somewhat "local" looking folks hanging out at the bar. Bartender/waitress was friendly, but I got the impression that she could get irritated very quickly. We got some draft beers and went through the menu. I like spicy, she doesn't, so she went with the sissy wings (butter and garlic) and I went with extra spicy. We also ordered fries. Wings took a good 20-25 minutes to come out and were served in wooden bowls- one on top of the other. The cook puts the wings and sauce in the first bowl, covers it with the second bowl, shakes them, and that's how they are served. The wings were smaller than I thought they would be, but we each had 12 which made for an acceptable portion. Sissy sauce was very buttery- she had to shake off each wing to get the butter off, but the taste was ok. Extra spicy was pretty good- I can tolerate more heat than most people, so I found them to be acceptable but truth be told I probably should have gone for Suicide. Very messy but she left us plenty of napkins and wet-naps. Fries were quite good, used them to scoop up the rest of the sauce. Bathroom looked like it was installed in 1972 and never updated since! Cash only, and for a total of 4 beers, 2 orders of wings and 1 order of fries the total (with tip) came to around $45. Not cheap, but tolerable. Overall it was enjoyable, but I'd prefer maybe 8 bigger wings instead of 12 small ones, but no question the taste was there! read more

Hot wings! Extra Spicy are my favorites. Suicides are extremely hot. If you can handle the Suicides ask them for Double Dare. This flavor isnt even on the menu because they are soo hot you really shouldnt be ordering them. read more

You'll get no argument here on the bad service that you'll experience at Wendell's. I went to Wheaton College (right down the road) and was consistently frustrated by the unfriendly waitstaff and the amount of time it took to get my wings. However, I learned that with proper timing, some patience and good company, Wendell's really hits the spot. Get there about an hour before you're going to be really hungry and order some beer (which is definitely overpriced) and 3.5 wings as soon as you sit down (go milder if you don't like things spicy). I graduated 3 1/2 years ago and still make the hour drive from my Dad's place in RI every time I come to visit. The wings are delicious and WELL WORTH the drive, the wait, and the need to get cash to pay (there's an ATM right across the street). read more

Best wings ever - don't forget the bleu cheese and yes u pay for it so don't complain!

It's nice to see other poor reviews for this place, I don't feel like such a Debbie downer now, staff was however pleasant when turning us away, last time I had the wings they were pretty good, I admit , this time we showed up a little before 10 only after checking the website first!!! to see that they close at 11!!! , I brought my wife and kids after a late hockey game before our journey back home , only to find out we couldn't order any food!, Real quick..... some buisness an to buisness advice either be open or be closed! , plain and simple. Don't keep the doors open and say we're open until 11 unless you are serving in all ways shapes and form . End of rant. read more

This place has hands down, the best wings I've ever tasted. Period. Don't ask about anything else on the menu, there's no need for anything else. The sassy (regular) wings have just enough spice for people who don't want to be in pain for days to come. If you want a true challenge try the double dare wings. My husband usually drinks an entire pitcher of water while he eats one order of double dare. We usually take home some of the sauce with us to make more chicken at home. read more
