Good wings but portions are small. In high school I used to bring my own blue cheese because it's extra here.

Wings are amazing. Service isn't great and it's cash only but the wings are DY-NO-MITE!!!

Part Biker / Dive Bar, part Family Restaurant, there aren't a lot of places in the world like Wendel's. And you're not likely to want to go back to many of them, but this place is different. The service is unbearably slow, not just the food prep, the whole deal. When, you order a beer, consider getting a second to hold you over for a while. The menu should probably just have 2 items, wings, which can be small, but are well prepared, fresh, and tasty; and the St Loius Ribs, good and meaty. The sauces get darker and hotter as they go, I find myself that 3.5 sauce is nearly perfect, it's got some heat but it's not with you forever. I have also tried the boneless which were dry, overcooked, and heavily breaded, I wouldn't order them again. It's a good joint, heavy on the local character, the food has it's own flavor, and it's Hot. read more

If you like good wings, this is the place to go. However, if you also like good service, be prepared to choose which is more important to you because you can't have both. One chef + one fryer + one waitress = one incredibly patience-trying, long wait. The wings are made to order, and are served crispy, sauce-covered and hot. I stick with the mild or buffalo because anything beyond that is too spicy for me. The blue cheese or side sauces are not included and are $1.50 additional for each small cup (absurd). Once you place the wing order the wait is anywhere from 30-45 minutes, so get ready to sit and grow increasingly hungrier. The crinkle fries are awesome. The wait is less time for those, so they will likely come out first. The jalapeño poppers are the cream cheese kind which are my favorite. Drink whatever you order very slowly because the one waitress does service in shifts. Everyone gets drinks served, food served, drink refills and checks delivered in each 35 minute increments. It is weird and frustrating. That same waitress will have no problem completely ignoring you, even with eye contact made. Just accept it and let it go. We have never gotten out of Wendell's for dinner in less than 2 hours. Usually we leave with our appetites satisfied, but extremely agitated. Dinner at Wendell's is about being held hostage. But when you want delicious wings, this is the best option around! We exercise this option infrequently, though, and hope to see increased staff... someday. Cash only! read more

The hottest Wings in the state of Massachusetts, great Dive Bar atmosphere, I go whenever I get a chance. The place gets very busy at lunch time so get there very early or after the lunch crowd because service slows down. Pabst Blue Ribbon on draft! Love it read more

This is not a place for ambiance. You walk into a big room with bland tables and booths. Beyond that is a dark bar. But ambiance is not why you're here. You're here for beer and wings! Unfortunately, I was there in the middle of the day and couldn't enjoy the beer, but did I enjoy the wings! I had the regular wings (Buffalo style) and my wife had the Sissy Suicidal. Hers had a great garlic butter sauce on them. Both were excellent and I would not hesitate to stop here again. read more

Cold beer and hot wings, must have died and gone to heaven. Wendell's almost lives up to it's reputation of the the perfect buffalo wing, but who here is perfect. This is as close as it gets. Wendell's is a local bar, you get that sense almost right away ,but not in a bad way. Good mix of young and older crowd ,many are regulars. Friendly local hangout , place plays host to dart league The wings are what make Wendell's special. Deep fried crisp with sauces from mild to oh s#!@ ! Recommend the not sooo hot .Great flavor. Need lots of napkins and a couple beers. read more

I have been going here for 22 years and i recently moved to Texas. I miss you so much its not funny. I have had wings across the country and in 11 other countries and nothing compares to these wings. And i like the dive bar atmosphere, it's part of the charm. You will be addicted after one bit. read more

We decided to try Wendell's on the way to our summer vacation. It was about 2 hours out of the way but, my god, was it worth it. We got an order of garlic butter and an order of sassy. I have never in my life devoured so much food in such a short time. I even started to dig in to my boyfriend's plate. I'll agree with the reviews that its a total dive and that the service isn't overly bubbly, but the wings are so amazing I'd eat them in a dumpster with a cobra. Definitely worth every minute of the drive. read more

Food is Amazing!!! HOWEVER They have the Worst service! One waitress in particular is so rude and messed up our entire order once a time ago. Now everytime we come she glares at us and this recent visit today 11/18/17 she called us out on messing up our orders in the past and said "you people always accuse me of F***ing up your order so I am going to read this back to you" she literally said this infront of 3 of my friends. 2 of which have never been here and we're shocked!!! I can't belive this really happened today I always come back because the wings are the best around but this is unacceptable! So disappointing... go for wings but do not expect good service. read more

This is the best restaurant in Norton. Locals and out-of-towners line up in the evening just for the buffalo chicken. The buffalo chicken comes in different grades of spicy and it comes with a creamy ranch sauce. I recommend the 3.5, the grade below suicidal. It's somewhere you go with friends so order a pitcher of beer and if you need an appetizer I recommend the potato skins. It's the real thing. read more

Best wings I've had and I love that it's a little hole in the wall place. Bring cash, they're not kidding about spicy, and wear dark clothing because you will likely get sauce on yourself. Try to learn the patented swirl and flip technique that perfectly distributes the sauce. Wings, fries and beer! You can't go wrong. read more

Wendell's - Best wings ever! I don't usually even like wings. - Chicken Wings Near Me - Norton, Massachusetts

Wendell's is exactly what it has always been; dive bar esque with phenomenal niche wings. Don't come here for anything else.

Cool nice dive bar. Tried the 3.5 spice, not bad at all. Wings just had the right crisp on them, nicely done. We'll definitely check it out again the next time we're in town. read more

Best Buffalo wings in the universe, hands down. We've scoured Buffalo, NY in search of a contender, but nothing beats Wendall's 3.5 and Extra Spicy wings. Alot of folks on Yelp are commenting on the service. The kitchen is small and it does take a while to get your order. They don't parboil or precook the wings, and they cook them a good long time, but that's why they come out so good and crispy. No celery. Pay extra for blue cheese. Fries come out 25 minutes before the wings. They never have more than a couple waitreses. The service is...it is what it is, OK? If you don't like it, there are probably 10 people waiting for your table. In 20 years it hasn't stopped me from coming back. At this point, my family is disappointed if the fries *don't* come out 25 minutes before the wings. Another odd thing about Wendall's is that the different heat levels are also different in other ways. If you like buffalo wings, these are the two you should stick to: *3.5* wings are the crowd favorite. Buttery, garlicy, and spicy. If you like medium heat, they might be a little too spicy for you, but you'll eat them anyway cause they're so good. *Extra Spicy*, my favorite, doesn't have butter or garlic. A little more of a vinegar kick but its nicely balanced, very spicy, and just slightly thick. Hot enough to make you sweat and get a little light headed, but too good to stop eating. (I'm pretty sure 3.5 is xtra spicy with butter and garlic powder added). The milder wings are less interesting and have more butter. Anything hotter than extra spicy could melt your face off. You've been warned. read more

The hot wings at Wendell's are and have been my favorite thing to eat for about 10 years now. They are legendary and are by far the best wings I have ever had. I now live in NYC and have gone on a quest to try the best Buffalo wings in NYC. I've tried 13 different Buffalo wings all listed on reputable sites as being "the best wings in NYC" and I can say that none of them even compare to Wendell's. Just to stipulate, this review is for the hot wings only, because that's why you go to Wendells... Not for the atmosphere, not for the service, not for the salads.... you go for wings and they are the best you will ever have. read more

BEST WINGS EVER!!!!!! No frills, just spicy goodness. My mouth waters everytime I think of their wings. 3.5's baby! read more

Bottom line: crummy dive bar with decent apps, crazy slow service and ok wings. CASH ONLY. This is your typical dive bar so we went in not expecting good service or a clean restaurant but the service was worse than expected. One server for an entire dining room is just unacceptable. BUT, according to the reviews on here I was expecting them to make up for it with amazing wings. This was not the case. I've worked in wing restaurants and eaten a LOT of wings and I can name half a dozen wing places off the top of my head that have better wings than this place. One of those places is a burger joint. They nickel and dime you for sauces and refills on your soda so be prepared for that. Literally, they don't do refills on fountain sodas! I personally can't name one other restaurant that does this. It's also cash only but there is an ATM for an extra $2.50. Overall I was hoping the wings would make up for the service and atmosphere but it just wasn't the case. They were mediocre at best. read more

Great selection of combination's and the beer is ice cold!!!! I dare you to double up on the double dare sauce.

This place is a real good find! If u like wings this is the place to go! Best boneless buffalo I've ever had!!! Takes a little while to get your food but worth the wait! Small place gets packed quickly. read more

Wendell's - Seating - Chicken Wings Near Me - Norton, Massachusetts

See all

always always always been a fan of wendells, gone here since i had my first hot wing and the 3.5s are the best thing on the menu. hopefully this place is still around for my kids because i want them to learn how amazing hot wings really are! read more

Let's be clear: It's not about the size, it's about the sauce. If you want big wings, then go buy a bag of frozen wings at the supermarket and douse them in Franks Red Hot. But if it's flavor that you're after, then look no further. I've heard great things, and Wendells wings did not disappoint. Yes I've had bigger wings elsewhere, but no other place has as tasty a sauce as Wendells. Be sure to bring cash! read more

The "king of wings" unless they are talking about fly wings falls short. The wings were from young chickens and they were just gross.. I came here in hopes they would live up to their name the slow service is the only thing they got right. Never again! read more

People rant and rave about this place. Opposite for me and our party. Waitress was careless and slightly grumpy. Ok, so this place is supposed to have "the best wing" The boneless wings were beyond subpar, dry horrible breading. They tasted exactly like Tyson frozen wings. The bone in wings had little to no meat on them. The sissy sauce had the best flavor, the regular were meh... If you're looking for wings look further and find somewhere else... 1 Star. C- at best. Overall wings are a 2 out of 10. read more

Went on a 'quick' delivery to Western Mass from the South Shore with a coworker. He suggested Wendell's on the drive back because he said his friend loved the place, so we headed a little off the path and stopped in Norton. While Wendell's makes it clear that service is slow, which I can handle, there is no excuse for getting every part of our order wrong. Wrong drinks, wrong food. We were told a new batch was going to be prepared for us. After watching the waitress bring wings over to another table (most tables were empty by this point), we decided to give it another 20 minutes to wait and see. Never saw the waitress again, we left after arriving over an hour and half prior, very hungry. I'd love to try the wings considering their reputation, but I'm never going to Wendell's again after that experience. read more

Reading through these reviews, sweat is beginning to bead up on my face. I went once and ordered the double dares, hands down the hottest, tastiest wings ever. The sauce was a rich thick volcanic paste. When I ate the first wing and the heat settled in, I wondered if I would be able to continue. I fought the good fight. It wasn't long before my receptors gave up and then I was free to enjoy the flavor in all its glory. It seems small business owners in general don't strive for excellence, but Wendell's is in a mode of complacency all its own. I second the person who said come early with your cadre, because you will be waiting and it's totally up to you to make it a good time. BTW South Street in Providence also has great wings, though nowhere near as hot. read more

This is by far the best wings I have even eaten. I used to be a vegetarian, and then someone turned me onto wings in college. Ever since then, its my ... "thing". I live around NYC, and I was surprised to find a good wing place in Norton. I started with their Suicidal - and decided I could handle more. I had their "Double Dare" sauce, and it was awesome. I would not recommend it for anyone that can not handle pain. The wings were cooked perfectly - crispy and juicy, and their sauce is tasty. read more

The wings themselves are 5 stars but I had to eliminate a star because the service can be "meh", the environment is a dive bar and I am not sure if any of the food besides buffalo wings is decent. Again, the wings are amazing! If you want a great tasting, legitimately "hot" buffalo wing, go to Wendell's. Do not go looking for a huge menu or different wing flavors like 'Wingz Over', professional seeming service or a fantastic atmosphere. Wendell's serves it's purpose: Place to have a cold drink and amazing buffalo wings (Usually go with the Extra Spicy personally). If you aren't a fan of buffalo wings and want to be in and out of the restaurant quickly, this probably isn't the place for you. read more

To this point in time, Wendell's is the first place I think of when I think of chicken wings. They are without a doubt, the best buffalo wings that I've had to date. I was introduced by a friend a few years back and ever since, I've been hooked. I try to go at least once a month, but I find myself going whenever I get the opportunity to bring new people. I started with the 3.5's which are delicious and have the slightest touch of heat. Some people find them spicy, but I guess it all depends on your tolerance for heat. I quickly moved on to the extra spicy and have found my comfort zone. It's the absolute best balance between heat, and flavor that I've found. The wait staff is very nice, and they do the best they can. It says it right on the menu, so don't be surprised when your order may take a while to cook, as they only have 2 fryolators, but I think that adds to the quality. They serve you with a great order each and every time, so it's worth it! And don't forget to bring cash! read more

Best Wings, ever. Their 3.5s have the perfect amount of heat. Their garlic wings are delicious, but your breath after eating them could clear a room, for sure. Service can be slow - but good things are worth waiting for. read more

No question about it....the best wings in Massachusetts. So many good things here. Kind of a hole in the wall typ of place, very small townish. Small bar, dart boards, open room dining room with booths all around. The wings will keep me coming back...the only drawback, and I mean the only thing, is it can take a while for the food to come out as I guess they only have 2 fryolaters and a very small kitchen Otherwise, the wings are KING read more

A friend of mine introduced me to Wendell's a few years ago. If I were writing this review then, it could likely be a high 4 star... rather than a very low 3 star. The concept is clear. You are going to wait - but it's going to be good. For a while, that was exactly what the deal was. I didn't mind waiting in line to sit (near a busy college town) and didn't mind sucking down a whole pitcher of beer before the wings got to the table. But my past few visit have been marred by small, nearly meatless, overcooked and EXPENSIVE wings. Coupled with service WITHOUT a smile. The sauces hold up - i can't deny that. but I would rather buy a cup of their sauce and shake my own homemade wings in them. I used to make monthly - sometimes 2x monthly trips to Norton... unfortunately it doesn't excite me as much as it used to. read more

We've been here a couple time, once with the guys and a few with my wife and kids. The wing and appetizers are good. Decent food otherwise. Since the beginning they've been Cash only. If you're looking for a date spot this ain't it but if you want to chow down on some wings and guzzle a few beers this is it. read more

I finally decided to try the wings. I have never been to this place. I got the boneless wings with the regular sauce. Plenty of zip and very moist. My dad got the extra spicy boneless wings, and he said it was as strong as he could handle. They charge $1.50 for blue cheese which is included for free at most places. (They lost a star because of this.) They don't take credit cards so that they can make more money--and declare less income to the tax man. In the back is a real juke box with 45 records that actually works. It is worth a visit to try the famous wings. read more

This place is famous for their wings. So I love wings, get them a lot when we go out. We had to try this place because my son's friends rave about them. This place is obviously for kids who don't know what good food is. We got the wings (you can get all kinds of levels of heat) which were really really overpriced for what you got. They were small and overcooked in our opinion. This place caters to the college kids down the street and a younger crowd. It's a little dumpy inside too. Maybe good for kids who haven't cultivated their taste buds yet but we won't be back. We know a dozen places with better wings. Maybe their other food is better but it's not worth the trip to find out for us. read more

Went by myself, ordered mozz sticks and wings, and it took one hour and 15 minutes for the wings. It was busy, but not busy enough to wait that long for wings and mozz sticks. The wings were wicked small and not even close to the hype they get on here. Id put two maybe three stars but i dont think it deserves a 4 1/2 star rating, so im gonna do what i can to hurt the average. I will actively tell people not to come here if they are looking for somewhere to eat in the area. I'm that disappointed with my experience here read more

Ordered takeout for chicken wings as I heard they were the best around. This is what I experienced: 1. The chicken wings were highly overrated. If you like vinegar, in your buffalo or BBQ sauce, then you can tolerate this. 2. When ordering takeout, you have to pick up your meal at the bar. The bartender can't be bothered with you. I ordered on a Saturday afternoon and she was rude and gave the appearance that I was an inconvenience to her. I gave this place 3 different chances and and had similar experiences each time. There are many different choices in Norton that are better than this little hole. read more

I attempted to call Wendell's to make a take out order for a literal hour, the phone either rang for an absurd amount of time or was on hold. The two times in which I was able to reach an employee she hung up on me. The first time she didnt even let me speak before she hung up, and the second time after I asked if it would be possible for me to order take out, she responded with "it would take an hour" and because I thought there must have been a miscommunication I asked "takeout would take an hour, or a table would take an hour?" and she screamed in the phone "I CANT HEAR YOU" and hung up. This customer service is so far beyond unacceptable, being disrespectful to your customers is never okay, no matter how busy your restaurant is, or how good your wings are. read more

The only reason I'm doing 3 stars is due to the amount of time it took to get our food otherwise I would have done 5 stars!! Wings were amazing and worth the wait read more
