This Weis is a joke. The only good thing about it is the amazing pharmacy, who are always on top of everything. But the employees range from ignorant teens who ignore you when you have a question, and old Karen's who get mad when you ask a question. The manager needs to do a better job at hiring nicer employees. Maybe have them take a mandatory class in customer service. read more

Sad to say this is an update to a previous review. It seems they have a deli counter, but they NO longer slice cheeses for you. They expect you to get from what they have pre-sliced. So if there is a cheese you want you are out of luck and have to go to another grocery. The folks that work behind the counters are sullen and not helpful at all. On top of that, I found deli meat in the meat section is out of date which can be quite dangerous. And when you go in there on a school day when students are released they have to have security lurking around to make sure there isn't rampant stealing and other activities. It makes me feel unsafe. And I won't get started with the number of dogs I have seen roaming the store (NOT Service dogs) with their owners. read more

I love Weis Markets, this is my "go to" grocery store in town! I use to go to Safeway but got fed up with poor employees attitudes, scanning items only to have them come up with a different price (always higher of course), long lines at the check out and numerous other little things. Once I started shopping at Weis I realized how many of the things I buy regularly are less money than Safeway (and not just a few cents), Weis also offer gas points and the station in town is convenient, so that was a big plus. The store may be a bit dated, but it is clean and organized and the Weis employees are very friendly and helpful. Weis sort of reminds me of Safeway back in the day when Damascus was a smaller town. OH and I love, LOVE their pharmacy, it's at the front of the story (easy to drop off prescriptions), the Pharmacists at this store are all super nice and the staff very friendly. Now that Rite Aid closed I fill all my prescriptions here! Weis is a wonderful place to shop! read more

I have gone once a week for years. I have had great customer service from all of Weis employees - except for Deborah. I have never had a good experience with her at the checkout lane. She usually greets you with a sour and rude tone, very snappy, then followed by being nice to you at the end. I have spent well over two years trying to avoid placing my items in her lane. I consider this place my "Cheers" Eddie is a great manager and very friendly. Janet in customer service is the best! From the cashiers, the cart boys to the guys in the Seafood department I always enjoy the conversations while doing my shopping. Never in my life I have enjoyed going to a grocery store until I moved to Damascus years ago. I've been a devoted Safeway customer my entire life, tonight I needed 6 pink balloons at around 9:30pm. I understood it was late but really hoped that Safeway would help me. Safeway instead insisted they were in fact to busy to help me when there was only 6 customers in the store and gave me an attitude for even asking. I quickly called Weis and was transferred to Jordan, the manager. He told me it was not a problem at all and he could do it immediately. Not only that but Safeway charges $1.49 while Weis charges $1.00. Jordan greeted me with a smile. He was genuinely happy to help me and that made me feel valued as a customer. I frequently shop at weis since i work in the area. Weis as a store is good. Food is good. What bothers me is that just about every time i walk into the store, one of the managers "blonde lady with curly hair and glasses" is being absolutely downright disrespectful to the other employees. Ive almost spoken up a couple of times. I am a manager myself and people like this lady create a TOXIC work environment. Disgusting. I was there Wednesday for cake for my daughter birthday. I like cake was decorated as asked and given to me soon after I got there and don't have to wait . Bought freshly steamed shrimp with medium seasoning from the meat counter and it is delicious!! I am also very glad that Weis is carrying more organic/natural foods now and some were on sale. Produce department looked better this time. The clerks are friendly and helpful. People are nice and it isn't crowded. Parking is plentiful. read more

Not friendly, customer service suck, went here to rent a carpet cleaner waited 20 minutes for a cashier, she helped me by taking my I'd to put me in the system then walked off without notice took my Id and helped someone in the self check out lane her manager sucked. This is a really cute country type market. Prices are fair. Very large bread selection if you are into that.

Definately the best pharmacy in Damascus! It is small, but very efficient and friendly. I quit going to CVS. Some of their pharmacy staff are rude and obviously inexperienced. Not only that, CVS staff generally lies about how long it will take. If it's going to be a while, Weis will let you know and generally have it done sooner than they estimate. read more

Although they have remodeled a bit, Weis customer service dismally fails. They try to compete with the new Safeway in its brand new building, by putting in self-checkout lanes. Not to mention when they have an express checkout cashier, it's usually a person who thinks it's OK to chit chat with customers and slow things down. The problem is Weis continually fails to properly enter bar codes so merchandise doesn't scan, and the customer also has to know to zero the scale before weighing produce. (First time users are screwed) Safeway has a person standing by if there is a problem, which rarely happens. Weiss has nobody standing by, and often has scanning problems. So today when I hit the button for help..., the machine says "help is on the way", and I pushed the button several times, but I got tired of waiting, so I bought nothing. I won't go back. What's the point? The money I saved isn't worth being delayed. I'll spend the money to get through the checkout fast at Safeway. read more

Overall, Weis gets the job done for your basic grocery needs. They have decent prices compared to some competitors and the staff is very friendly. Where they are lacking is in the bakery section. There is not a large selection and they are often out of loafs of fresh bread. read more

The pricing and selection in this store is great. Some of the staff is a bit unprofessional. Most of the cashiers seem to be students. I worked at this Weis location almost 20 years ago, and I liked the environment, I got along well with my co-workers. I was a cashier, and by the time I left for greener pastures, I was tired of being a cashier. BUT, you can say the same thing about being a cashier at all supermarkets, not only Weis Markets. Anyhow, unfortunately, with the invent of self service cashier machines, I don't see many cashier machines being operated by people, like when I was working there. Technology is taking over, it looks like a Terminator movie. I usually like going through the self service machine, as I can do the job faster, after having the cashier experience. One thing I noticed, and I am being honest, which bothers me, every time I use the self service machine, an employee comes out from the customer service office and stands basically next to me. I don't know if they do in order to help, or just to make sure I don't "forget" to scan something. I see this happening when there are a few people on the self service cashier machines also, so, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but when it's only myself using the machine, and the other 4 machines are empty, it looks a little bit strange. I am of Hispanic descent, by the way. Anyway, prices at Weis are also cheaper than Safeway, and the store has more of a home ambient, it does not look as "modern" as Safeway does, which I like. Someone's review said that this Weis has a "Very large bread selection". I will disagree with that, it is very small compared to Safeway, Weis needs more variety with their bread section. read more

I have lived in Damascus for 41 years and have been a loyal customer of Weis for many of those years. The store is convenient, prices are good, and generally the expiration dates are current. Staff has always been lots of help and is able to answer any question I have, and I have no problem with the young cashiers. My complaint is their check out machines for self-service. Weis' own green little bags are too heavy and someone must come every time I place a new bag to be filled. Eggs no longer scan. Today, my lettuce wouldn't scan nor a can of green beans, so I had to call for help each time. As I filled bags, I took them off the counter and put them in the grocery cart. Oh no! Can't do that! The machine complains and help must be summoned. Except that the help was elsewhere (helping someone else), and I had to wait 6 min for someone to come help. As I put other items into the Weis bags, the machine complained that the weight wasn't correct. Huh?? Then the receipt wouldn't come out. It took longer for me to check out than it did to do all the shopping! Weis, you need to fix those machines, have them recalibrated somehow, or you will lose me as a customer (not that you care probably). read more
