Watching the staff says it all! They look like they're all being tortured- miserable and sad. Long story but they don't seem to know what they're doing. It took us FOUR trips to pick up ONE medicine. They kept delaying how long it would take and they had an insurance on file that I've never even had. I work in a doctors office and have now been on hold for 48 minutes waiting for someone to pick up the phone! I am trying to get alternative medication names for my patient since Medicare won't cover the one that was written for. This is absolutely unacceptable! These patients need their medications and should be able to reach the pharmacy when they need to! I tried calling the store manager and they picked up but before I could even get 2 words out he put me on hold! I can say that the next time you call your doctors office to check on your prescription request, just know that we do try to call the pharmacy and this is what happens. CVS is pure trash now and it sucks that a lot of these insurance companies are forcing their members to use them for their benefit only. read more

If I could, I'd give this pharmacy zero stars. Today I went to pick up my prescription at the CVS Pharmacy in Damascus, MD, and they tried to give me the wrong medication. We sometimes have to come to this CVS (Damascus) for a few items, including prescriptions. The general staff is pretty rude/disrespectful and the pharmacy can be hit or miss. They have one particular staff member here, older Hispanic woman who is usually the most rude. Generally try to avoid by going to other CVSs if it is just a quick run-in-and-get type item. read more

Rude and unhelpful in response to questions about side effects. I've always heard you are supposed to call the pharmacist if you have questions about side effects on a medication you are taking, especially one you are taking for the first time. I had an episode of severe continuous vomiting overnight (vomiting at a rate of at least a dozen times over a period of 8 hours) after taking a medication that I had picked up at this pharmacy. This was after my second dose and it was in addition to a bought of diarrhea that set on within an hour of taking the first dose of the medication. I called to discuss my situation, in the middle of trying to explain the situation the person who answered my call interrupted me to ask my name (which I had already provided) fine, went to ask the pharmacist about my symptoms and came back with the message that I probably also had the flu. I had no flu symptoms beyond the stated side effects of this medication, the ones both my fact sheet and my doctor's office had told me about. What I had were questions about how I should handle those side effects and when I might get some relief. Instead, I was told that my symptoms couldn't be tied to this medication. When I tried to explain how the timing of onset of the symptoms coordinated with the meds, the person on the phone essentially said it wasn't possible. I ended up doing yet another tele-health appointment with my doctor's office to get my questions answered (with the additional need for another co-pay). Of course, in the tele-health appointment they said that my symptoms were definitely the type of side effects most often reported and yes I was having a more severe reaction and should discontinue taking the med. They also told me when I could expect some relief. This was much more what I had hoped the pharmacist could have done. I was disturbed not only by the dismissiveness of both the person on the phone and the pharmacist, the discounting of my own description of my symptoms as "not possible," the attempt to diagnose me with something I do not have, but also by the extremely rude tone of the person I'd spoken to. This is the last way someone working in a pharmacy should react to what could be a major medical problem. read more

This isn't necessarily a knock on this particular CVS but rather on a particular employee at this location. Today was the second time my wife has been treated very rudely by Kevin in the pharmacy department. The first time,several weeks ago, she came home upset by his rudeness but she wrote it off as him probably having a bad day. But being treated as badly today proved that it's his normal bad behavior, or at the least poor customer service skills. He was extremely rude to her to the point of being aggressively so, and for no reason, was unhelpful when asked simple questions, and had a very bad attitude. If I could give them less the 1 start I would have done it. These are the reasons: 1. My prescription is never ready (I always go after they call me) 2. Last month they gave me my son's medicine and it was NOT MIXED. I found out that it was not mixed after I noticed that for the first time I have two bottles in my bag. 3. Just now, I called to check on the status of the prescription (which they told me will be ready yesterday) and the lady told me that they are waiting on my doctor to confirm it? I am appalled at how this store treated me the past two days. I have been going to CVS in damascus before I was able to fill my own prescriptions. I finally accepted that I have severe ADHD and took a prescription for it. I came to CVS in Damascus (that I've been going to my entire life) and was told they have my meds in stock (national shortage) and the techs had no problem filling them. I also inquired if other medications I requested to be filled were available. Yoon Jung Kwon told the technicians not to fill my ADHD medication because it wasn't in stock. The technician asked me if I'm ok paying out of pocket for the brand name instead of generic. I said sure. Yoon Jung Kwon Shook her head again and said they were out of stock as well. I gave up and asked for my prescriptions. I was then told my anti anxiety meds I've been getting filled at the same pharmacy for 12+ years cannot be filled because it's a "new fill." At this point I became highly upset and asked to have a list of my medications printed out. They only printed out what I had filled on my current insurance; NOT my full history. From there I asked if I call doctor and have him verify his rx, would they fill it? Yoon Jung Kwon Told me sure but there's a computer glitch and I would have to come back the following day. I left out the fact that she screamed my medication list and name in front of clients, completely violating HIPAA law. Fast forward to the following day. I come back with a new written Rx. I'm told by Yoon Jung Kwon again that it's cvs policy that they cannot issue brand name drugs through my ex unless it's written properly. I drive all the way down to Rockville (my psychiatrist was on my phone the entire time arguing the law with this "woman") to get the new re written prescription that the specifically told my doctor how to write. On my way back, the office manager at my practice told me that Yoon Jung Kwon told her that she would not fill anything for me and I'm wasting my time. My psychiatrist chewed her out and filed a complaint to the maryland board of pharmacy. I have basically been banned from picking up any Rx from my hometown because the new pharmacist Yoon Jung Kwon damascus hired (who allegedly got ran out of hyattsville for being racist) thinks I'm a drug addict even though my new medication is by THE SAME PROVIDER that has been treating me since 2010. I'm literally traumatized and was denied speaking to a manager or dealing with a different pharmacist... read more

just now Terrible customer service.!!! Use a different pharmacy chain. Pharmacy Tech, Diane is NOT most honest person and female Pharmacist on duty corroborated her lie. I called the pharmacy this evening and tech answered and placed me on hold for 32 minutes and 20 seconds. I told her I felt like they forgot about me. Diane then proceeded to tell me, "No calls came in, no phone rang and no one was on hold." I know Halloween is two days away, but there is no apparition here. My call was answered and immediately I was placed on hold by technician. The unnamed Pharmacist comes on the phone at 35 minutes and 28 seconds. She refused to give her name and corroborates the technician story. For another 4 minutes she was adamant that no calls came into pharmacy, now 40 minutes into the call. Please customers are not all liars and a telephone call times are not fabricated. I understand if you are busy. Just admit it and apologize. Do not tell customer who has been waiting for 32 minutes on hold that it is all an illusion. read more

Pretty much the same as the rest of the reviews. Staff is a mixed bag, some are nice others seem annoyed to have to deal with any customer. Prescriptions take an unusually long time to fill. Not sure why, never had this issue with other locations but this one consistently takes 2 weeks to fill anything. You will also need to followup yourself on the status of any medications; despite specifically asking for the normal text notification like I have received at other locations, this one never sends them and when you call a week later to check (after waiting on the phone for 15-20 minutes), you will be told the medication was out of stock so you land up waiting another week (this is happened twice). Just go to Safeway or anywhere else basically. read more

This place is ridiculous! My daughter has yet to get her meds after 3 weeks of waiting! I decided to talk to a manager and she was no help! Then proceeded to tell me they do not have a prescription!?! Didn't apologize and made ME call my pediatrician to fix their mistake!!! The first time I tried to pick up the prescription the rude lady at the drive thru tried to give me an excuse then told me I had to park the car to get the prescription because she was "too busy" after I explained to her I had my twin toddlers sleeping in the car and I couldn't take them out. Nice people some times but it is sooooooo slow to get your Meds. I turn my car off in the drive thru because I want to save gas. The people in the store look like I'm bothering them when I ask for my meds. If I see more then 2 cars in the drive thru I go in,( which is not any faster) or I go another time. read more

Never seen such an incompetent pharmacy in a long time! When I first started going there was only because my insurance didn't want me to go to anywhere else's but CVS. The staff is nice as to why the 2 stars but a lot to be desired because this pharmacy is clueless! 1. Several times I had to tell them that I do not want child caps. Did they ever listen? No only until after a year of telling them this. They finally got it! 2. Just recently my husband gets a text that medication has come in. Um, ok but the medication I needed was completely run out. I thought that was the one. Oh no! When I called, the one I needed was not in stock. Ok then when will I be able to get it? They said it could take 3-4 days to get the medication stocked. 3-4 days????Really? So I asked if they could call to see what other CVS has it in stock. Their answer, "We don't have that capability." I called another CVS and they had it! No, they did not say that they can give me a few pills until we restock, just "I'm sorry". Sorry doesn't cut it when you need your medication! A-OK. I remember when it was still Peoples Drug down in the now-demolished Safeway shopping center. The new location, on the corner of Lewis, is much brighter and cleaner but paradoxically seems more confined and claustrophobic. Maybe narrower aisles? Taller shelves? I don't know. It's your average everyday pharmacy/general store. Occasionally good sales, check the fliers. The pharmacists are the usual mix - some are stubborn and seemingly intractable, some are friendly and outgoing. They will sometimes battle the insurance companies are your behalf and go the extra mile. They sometimes will not. Their main competition in town in Rite Aid, which seems pretty much identical to me. read more

Rude staff! Been getting my prescriptions there since we moved to Damascus area however they are continually getting worse. Spoke with a woman Dallia (long brown hair) today who works at drop off counter and she refused to not only fill a prescription that had the correct information on it but also refused to help with refusing to speak to doctor who wrote the prescription to confirm everything. Went to rite aid right away, they had no problem with prescription and were very friendly! Will continue to deal with rite aid and getting all of the refills and new business filled here. read more

Damascus Maryland CVS pharmacy staff is worst & horrible and should all be fired. I believe the only reason pharmacy staff at Damascus MD CVS is not fired as there is shortage of pharmacy workers in the industry. Anyhow that do not give CVS pharmacy staff the permission to be rude or unprofessional with the customer. I would not recommend this pharmacy to anyone the only reason I go there is it's proximity to my home and insurance. So CVS knows we do not have any choice. I would recommend everyone to file complaints to CMS, and your insurance provider to give you choice of choosing pharmacy outside CVS. Once CVS will start loosing business then they will learn to see the power of customer voice. I am also stock investor and would never recommend anyone buying and investing in CVS. I have lived in 6 different states and this is by far one of the worst CVS Pharmacy's I've ever been in. The store seems dirty and claustrophobic. Pharmacy staff is inept and claims to have never received prescriptions (yet the Pharmacist with the brown hair and nose ring actually took the actual paper script from my hand, wrote down my cell phone and date of birth and called me less than an hour later to tell me they are out of that particular prescription and will have to order from another location). When I called this morning to follow up, the Pharmacist told me they have no record of my prescription and that I must have taken the paper back. The other pharmacists have zero personalities and are horribly unfriendly with zero social skills. read more

Now that Rite-Aid is gone insurance company is pushing CVS. By far the best CVS pharmacy experience I've had now in 10 years. This is based on the pharmacy timeliness, call backs , curtesy. They call me to let me know what is going on no matter what. If there is a down side to this location is the hours of operation , however this is a smaller town on comparison to all other Montgomery county ones. Thanks and keep up the great work ! read more

Went in there to get Rx that I had gotten a call from them saying I needed to pick up so i head over there only to find out the one of them is not ready. I am told that to fill the last one would be 15-20 minutes but that they would call me over the load speaker if I wanted to wait. I told the Asian woman at the pharmacy that i would wait and I just began to walk around. fast forward after taking my blood pressure 3 different times and looking at all the useless stuff they have. I notice it has been one hour and they have still not called. I head back there and find out that they filled it right after I came up there and just decided to never call me over the intercom. Woman pharmacist with the straight long brown hair is by far one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. No regard or empathy for the patients. Accusatory and condescending. I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy. Not to mention she discussed personal patient issues out loud in front of many other people.
