Every time I drive past this bakery I'm always tempted to go in, but I've restrained myself. Today, I caved. Maybe it was because I needed a hug but instead chose a sugar rush. Or quite possibly I just really, really like pastries. Yeah, I'm gonna go with that one. My daughter and I couldn't narrow our choices down so we got a bag full of calories. A slice of Bavarian chocolate cake, a cinnamon bun, a sugar donut and a giant cookie shaped like a pumpkin. Everything tasted good, especially the donut, which kicked the ass of every single treat at all of the area Dunkin' Dounts. Twice. I liked the retro vibe of this place (it's truly old school and has been around since 1952) and the fact that the girls who work there wear giant baker's hats. I really wish they had more variety, though. There were lots of donuts and cookies but hardly anything chocolate. The cakes look tasty, too - maybe I'll try one for the next birthday celebration. The lemon meringue piece is great. It's piled high with meringue and the lemon is not too sweet or too tart, it's just right. The cheese danishes are also delicious and loaded with cheese. The last time we went on the Saturday before Mother's Day they were out of a lot of things and what they had didn't look too exciting so we left. I would definitely go back for the lemon meringue pie and cheese danish though. They are worth the trip! read more

Established in 1919, this family owned/operated German style bakery sits in a small strip center between Easton and Davisville Roads in Willow Grove, Pa. The Vietnamese restaurant, Pho & Beyond is right next door, and a convenient neighbor to have if dessert apres noodle soup is your sweet desire. The space includes two storefronts, and is bright and cheery. The staff dresses the part of bakers and assistants, with white coats and hats. With all the goodies in displays, and glass walls permitting a look at the actual creation of the cookies, cakes, scones, petit fours, and cupcakes, Weinrich's is all about seduction and temptation. In that it succeeds quite well. It was next to impossible not to want to sample a little of everything in sight, especially when they offered me a petit four as a first timer. That was small and delicious, and set everything that happened next into motion. Just had a get a half dozen cupcakes (Raspberry Cream, Caramel Cream, and Lemon Cream), and the same number of the freshly baked and glazed donuts. A small bag of scones were thrown in for good measure. Everything was very good to excellent. The cake bottoms were firm enough to hold the top load easily. Each cupcake was injected with the cream of choice, right down to the bottom of the base. The icing was soft with subtle flavor, rather than the hard topping found in many shops. The donuts were more the standard variety, with Red Velvet and Vanilla cake style, as well as traditional glazed and French Cruller alternatives. All dipped in vanilla glaze icing, they were less enchanting as their texture, touch and taste were not so unique from the more mass produced options found elsewhere. The scones were raisined, and had a mild sweetness. There was far more in this shop than could be sampled or purchased in one visit. I am not a bakery cookie guy, preferring home baked to almost anything that can be made in quantity, yet given what I've just tried, Weinrich's is certainly worth several returns to get hands and tongue into the rest of this cookie jar. read more

This bakery was great years ago.....items now are mediocre.....carrot cake without cream cheese icing, WHAT???......The layer cakes look good but the taste and flavor is bland....it seems as though they are trying to save money using less than good products. Also prices for cup cakes, cakes and cookies above average bakery prices. They no longer have donuts or breakfast type of treats.....a bakery without doughnuts---what is that ???. I've gotten cookies here a few times.... delicious! They are huge, buttery, and perfect. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful and they wear giant baker hats to add to the vibe of the place. I only take time out to write a review if I'm giving 5stars. But the way Beth the owner spoke to me was unbelievable. I called about danishes that I purchased . They had hardly any filling but covered with icing. She was so nasty telling me that it's nothing she could do and that's it. She just got back from vacation. So that explained why the danishes weren't the same. And when you travel far and don't get what you expect it's bad. I've been patronizing and sending several people to them since I was younger. I had to let her know that I wasn't expecting anything. You should want to know what's going on with your business so when you are away you have consistency. I'm still so bothered that she even had the nerve to speak to me the way she did. Beth's attitude was just as bad as the danish. But I won't refer anyone else to them. And I'll be getting my daughter's birthday elsewhere. And I'm going to make sure o post this review on every app I can so no one else's has to experience what I did. After enjoying a traditional German lunch at Otto's Brauhaus we stopped by this historic German bakery for a special treat. Spoiling ourselves with afternoon tea, st patty's day cupcake, eclair, and a very rich fudgy brownie we were quite satisfied. So many decadent goodies, it's hard to choose. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, which made the experience that much more memorable. Next time we're around willow grove mall, we'll be stopping by again! read more

I have been using Weinrichs for over 25 years. Authentic , traditional recipes and a following that has stood the test of time . How many bakeries are left still serving their community . Their German butter cake is a family favorite . Also their Christmas cookies , sticky buns and pastry . My staff and customers have never complained when I bring in these wonderful treats ! Everything I've tried from here has been good; not great. The blueberry danish are nice, but last time I got a stale one. Cinnamon buns are average as are most of the other cakes & cookies. Have had sheet cakes which are tasty & nicely decorated. The cupcakes are fair; i.e the buttercream icing is great, but the cake itself, while fresh and moist, is a bit too light and not as rich as the frosting. I've seen cannolis ,baklava, and donuts; but never tried any. To sum it up- just O.K. Nothing mind-blowing. read more

I have been going to Weinrich's for a few years and have been fairly happy every time. I bought a birthday cake for my boyfriend on 6/20/2019 and came home extremely disappointed. After a ten minute, normal drive home with the cake (it was even buckled in to a seat), the top layer of the cake had completely slid off. When we cut slices, it almost looked as if the top layer of the cake had extra icing on the sides, as if the baker knew the layer was too small in circumference but used it anyway. While I'm sure the bakery will chalk this up to my handling of the cake, I am 100% positive that I carried/transported the cake in an appropriate way. For how much their cakes cost, this is completely unacceptable and disappointing. Will be switching to Bredenbeck's for future cake needs. read more

A manager saw me, came over to be sure I was all right and insisted on giving me another cake. I happened across Weinrich's Bakery one Sunday morning in search of a fresh (non-DD) doughnut. I found it. This place is amazing. I shared several doughnuts and a strudel stick, and everything was delicious. This is a really special place. As we perused the varied selection, several counter girls offered to help, and I explained that we needed a few minutes as it was our first time in. The little old lady came out from around the counter and said we should get some petit fours to try just for stopping in. They were amazing! She explained the family and bakery history in just enough detail (we didn't feel lectured to, or bored and ready to go). I'll be back to Weinrich's to eat in the tea room or buy a cake, and if only they made anything remotely healthy I'd be back more frequently! read more

My wife and I have past this bakery a dozen times and decided to order my birthday cake from here. Let me say the valet itself is very nice but the birthday cake was probably the worst cake I ever had from a bakery. Icing tasted like shortening, the cake itself tasted like it was a box cake. I actually told my wife that it tasted like a cake that we bought from a super market. I was very disappointed in this cake and so was my wife. She ordered me half vanilla and half chocolate and I'm Just baffled on how much it tasted like box cake. I am lost for words on this experience. We ordered an 8inch cake so that I have left overs to eat and freeze. I didn't even waste my time and aluminum foil to save it. It went right in the trash. So I guess you can say we threw $27 right in the trash. read more

This little bakery that is very well hidden had many delicious looking things. its located on the corner of a small strip mall if you can even call it that. I barely ate much and just want to say that don't look at them too harshly because this review. me and the Mrs. had chocolate covered strawberry's which cost us 1.35 or so for each. i thought this to be a little pricey since i can go to Godiva and spend a little more for fresh dipped strawberry's. They weren't that great but it was a nice intermission to my next sweet treat. I may go back to try other things and give a better and more in dept review but this is what i got for now. read more

I've driven past this bakery for 5 years and always thought I should try it, today I'm glad I did! I went in for an apple turnover which should be a quick transaction but there were a lot of people there picking up graduation cake orders so it was kinda a long wait. There is a coffy shop attached where you can get a sampling of their pasteries, that would be faster. The wait was worth it though, perfect apples wrapped in crispy layers of thin dough and topped with 1/4" of powdered sugar....yep! I also wanted to try a couple of their lacy cookies and the lady who helped me gave me a handful for free! Awesome, and they tasted great too. read more

This review is for the Stollen! Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place! I haven't tried their coffee but i've had their cannolis and I can't complain, they hit the spot. But the real reason to come here is for the Stollen. It's sweet, packed with dried fruit and it's so delicious with coffee or on its own.
