Absolutely loved the service here! The young lady that served me, Sophia, was so sweet and kind to me. Their butter cakes are to die for.

I went to Danish Bakers to get a dozen danish and a lemon meringue pie. They did not have a lemon meringue pie. I purchased 12 danish, 6 lemon, 3 apple and 3 cherry. After arriving at my destination where the danish were to be gifted, they were hard and crispy, not soft at all. They were like biting into a pretzel and the icing was hard as well as the fruit fillings. I was so embarrassed as everyone said they were so stale, and all the danish were thrown out. They were pure garbage. I called up Danish Bakers and was going to ask for my refund of $33.00, but they were closed already. Definitely stay away from this so called bakery. I still want my money refunded as soon as possible, from this terrible, overpriced, bakery selling stale products. It's a disgrace. Shame on you, Danish Bakers! read more

Update: The best part is when my mom called about the cake the male owner/manger yelled at her for this review and told her he refused to speak with her unless this review would be removed. We were not asking for a refund but simply to let them know how disappointed we were. I think he should be more concerned with properly training his employees and having better quality products. Just shows how unprofessional and rude they are. Order a cake for my grandmoms 80th birthday and told them I need the cake for 10 people. Price was never a concern we just wanted a nice cake for everyone to enjoy. Picked up the cake today and it was so tiny could feed about five people. On their website it states that cakes are two layers but this was only a one layer cake. I am so embarrassed to present this cake to my guests. Cake was extremely dry and tasteless as if you were eating stale bread. Last time I had ordered a cake it was very expensive and very dry/stale as well. I thought to give them another chance but unfortunately they disappointed once again. This will be my last time ever purchasing from the danish bakers. read more

Place was recommended by a local and a dear relative of mine that's also a foodie. It's a mom & pop type of establishment. It's old school looking, quiet and simple. The young lady that fulfilled my order was sweet and friendly. I stopped by on a Friday evening 20 minutes before closing which was not the best time to see everything on offer and to get a 1st impression. I purchased the Italian Style cookies (didn't try), a few apricot pastries (5 out of 5 star), a few lemon tarts (3 out 5 star), a few raspberry linzer cookies (5 out of 5 star) and 1/2 dozen oatmeal cookies (didn't taste). I wanted to try the chocolate chip cookies but some lady beat me to them and purchased all seven that were left. So they must be tasty. Big selection and all delicious! Love the smell inside. Great place for all occasions and high quality sweets. During COVID they are only allowing 3 people in the store at a time and increased the minimum on some orders (only selling by dozens, etc). I recommend placing an order ahead of time for pick up. Stopped in today for a Halloween themed pound cake for a party. I also bought a few cupcakes, cream donuts for my husband, and chocolate chip cookies. The girls working there were helpful and pleasant. The bakery is clean and there are many items to choose from. So far, the cupcake I ate was delicious and had just the perfect amount of frosting. My daughter loved the cookies. It's hard to find a good bakery nowadays so I'm glad this place is still thriving. read more

While Danish bakery is known for their high-quality baked goods... their customer service is awful. I placed an order in person and paid a month in advance requested a certain color and style of flower i sent an email a few days later with the description. Imagine my surprise getting a call 40 min before my cakes were to be picked up. The girl told me "We didn't realize you had an email with special instructions... we didn't receive it" She later acknowledged my email and wanted to know how late I could pick up the cake... as it wasn't done...in fact not even started. She then proceeded to tell me "it is mother's day and we would like to get other orders done" Wow like my order wasn't as important as the mother's day goods. It doesn't end there the next call I get was from Tracy who took my order telling me she charged me the incorrect amount and it would be an additional $26. Not sure how that happened as she recommended the cake sizes and charged extra for the special requested color.I let her know how upset I was that this was happening as the cakes were for a christening so now I needed to backtrack to get the cakes and be at the church. Her apathetic I'm sorry didn't bother me as much as her comment well at least you know your cake is fresh. Really isn't freshness an expected goal for$160 cake order. Will I come back to Danish bakery I'm sure I will. Would I refer someone or buy a cake for a special event... I'm not sure. read more

I loved this place!! The shop is really quaint and cool. The town is the same. I got a chocolate loaf cafe and a butter cake for Christmas. The butter cake is similar to a cake my mom makes. I enjoy this little bakery. However, I'll tell you what I don't enjoy first; their hours and their cash only policy. I've never heard of another bakery that opens so late (8:30 am every day? I thought bakeries often open before the sun rises?) and it's just plain annoying to have a cash only business in this day and age. Now that I'm done complaining, I can tell you their butter cake is of good quality. It's not so gooey that it just falls apart, and it actually resembles and tastes like a cake rather than just a huge tray of buttery icing. Aside from butter cakes, I think their coffee cake danishes are their stand out item. They're sweet and spicy and crumble nicely. Their regular cheese and fruit danishes are solid as well. I thought their cookies were okay, but don't come here for the cookies. There's a reason it's always crowded here despite some inconveniences, and they're worth a try at least once. read more

I have been coming here for years. I moved but I still will drive to come here. I won't eat donuts anywhere except for here. Their donuts are soft and fluffy. It is so good. Drove past this wonderful shop on my way to Giant the other day and wanted to check it out. I woke up crazing a Danish today was the day it had to go down. PRO TIP: place your orders in advance especially during COVID TIMES. Fortunately for me, they had just enough for me to order which I was extremely thankful. As soon as I parked, someone came outside (wearing a mask) and took my order. Super professional and extremely nice as this was my first time here. I was able to try blueberry and cherry which were incredible! Soft and fresh! Not much more I can ask for! I am African American Every time I go in this place I am met with unfriendly and short attitudes the energy is just bad especially is I attempt to strike a friendly conversation there is no smiling or engaging Instead I am met with a serious condescending demeanor by the salespeople here who typically are young white females. Also, when I place my order for doughnuts there is always an attempt to slide in an irregular or smaller than normal item, you know one of the doughnuts that looks as if the batter got low but let's make it anyway. I find myself constantly saying "No not that one, give me this one instead". I really am tired of this; I should not have to go through that every time I go in this place. Obviously, they get enough patrons who look like them that they do not need my money so this behavior won't change. Anyone who believes that BLACK LIVES MATTER should avoid this place. read more

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago. The first girl at the counter was nice, but the other one acted like every question I had was a problem, (probably because she was on her phone) so I didn't appreciate that. I know they get busy around the holidays so I tried placing my order online a few days ago. It said the only time I could pick it up was late Christmas Eve which I can't do because Im traveling. I tried calling multiple times but it just played an automatic message and then hung up. So I went in today to see if I could get something in person. There were about six young girls working there. Took them a while to actually acknowledge me, and right away I was informed that they had completely stopped taking orders of any kind and the tomorrow they would only be available for order pickups. I let her know that I had tried calling and she said "well we get busy so.." This was extremely frustrating and kind of rude because I tried multiple times to place my order well in advance and to be told that basically "oh well nothing we can do" is annoying. I realize this is a very good and popular business especially around the holidays but that doesn't mean they can't have some better customer service. Might try one of the other bakeries in the northeast and see if they have it a little more put together. read more

The Danish Bakers is a Rockledge staple. The baked goods are excellent and always very consistently made. My family loves the butter cake and will travel over an hour to buy it a few times a year. The prices are not posted in the store, but if you call they will share pricing. From my experience, the prices are always fair and reasonable. Over by Rillings,, down by Sketcheys etc. Bought dozens of cakes out of the case for many friends for many occasions. Today at Danish Bakers I was charged $2 for writing HAPPY BIRTHDAY. No heads up that a 1 minute service that bakeries have done as a courtesy forever. Just the counter girl writing it. I'm working at Fox Chase for the summer, so it is my mission to try as many delicious things in philly as possible. I came here after work knowing that there wouldn't be much to choose from at the end of the day, so I decided to randomly try a chocolate cupcake. When I tell you that this was actually the best cupcake that I ever had, I am not exaggerating. There was no dryness to be found and the icing did not have that sickeningly sweet quality that others tend to have. I will def have to come back to try to butter cake. We were there last Friday and got a couple of boxes of cookies, 5 hot cross buns and a sweet roll sheet. All were delicious. The issue was the young girl who waited on us. She was quite rude. My husband ordered the sweet roll sheet and she said they were not like normal sweet rolls because they were made with Danish dough. For the 2020 holidays we got some cakes and goodies here. Excellent. Nice big eclairs with semi crisp shells hours after purchase delicious plain butter cake that remained delicious a few days later, lovely cookies and pastry oh ms delicious chocolate cream pie wonderful thin crust delicious chocolate filling and dreamy real whipped cream on top. Clearly this establishment uses top quality ingredients no bad aftertaste no heavy chemical artificial flavor. We've been getting stuff here forever but dahm this place is (insert four year old slang phrase that old white guy uses to try to hang onto his rapidly disappearing middle age, sigh). Still, in my many years in Philly I'll say this place is perhaps better then terminis and is certainly at least eye to eye with Isgros. That said Terminis does a cannoli TO FING DIE FOR. For my birthday my husband pre-ordered the strawberry shortcake. It was freshly made the same day. Price was a little steep but I guess that is what you pay for freshly made. The cake wasnt that good the first day when I cut it but the next day OMG it was so delicious. The strawberries were so fresh and the whipped icing was light and fluffy I do reccomend the strawberry shortcake it was really good. read more

Spectacular. I traveled from Atlanta to go to the Danish Bakers. The butter cake was exactly right.

THE BEST BUTTER-CAKE I HAVE EVER HAD. But that's not all The cinnamon crumb danish, cinnamon buns are just as good . The donuts are so light and airy you wonder how they make them that way. Also whenever I am there you always see the bakers , who are all family members, bringing fresh products out to fill the case. I came just for the butter cake. Called ahead to see if they had any left and the girl on the phone was very nice. I raced over. I'm told there's a line here in the morning that stretches out the door. It's been years since I was home and got an ooey-gooey butter cake. Many bakeries no longer make this scrumptious treat. Danish does is soooo good. A butter cake is $11.75 and worth every penny. Probably would feed about 6 normals, I could eat the whole thing. CASH ONLY. Danish Bakers is famous for their butter cake- and for good reason, they are absolutely DELICIOUS! You won't know what you're missing out on until you actually try one- so go get one! In addition to the butter cakes they have everything else your typical bakery would have: Donuts, Cookies, Cakes, Pretzels, Etc. The Danish Bakers is easy to find with a big sign. They also have their own parking lot which is a good size. The only bad thing about Danish Bakers is that they don't accept credit cards, they also don't appear to have a ATM on site. I really don't understand why this place gets 5 star ratings. I've tasted the danish and quite a few of the other pastries they serve here and to be perfectly honest, I found it bland, too floury or on some of the fruit pastries, too sticky/congealed. I don't care for buttercake, so I didn't taste their claim to fame, but out of the couple of times I've been there or had someone bring me something, I threw out what we didn't eat of our servings. Service is fine (not open Mondays though), but I'd rather have Entenmann's boxed goods before I go back. Sorry Danish Bakery, you are so close to my house but I'll just be baking my own pastries or hiking elsewhere. Your products just don't impress me at all. read more
