The portion is a great size for what you pay. The chicken was tender but not "bready". And the chow mein! I was impressed! The mini is perfect for me 1 scoop rice 1 scoop mac and two hamburger patties on a bed of cabbage with brown gravy. It's okay most of the time. It's hard to believe, but there is NO legitimate dedicated Chinese restaurant here on the island of Maui! When Dragon Dragon closed, all of us Pake's were left longing for dim sum and true Cantonese, Mandarin or Szechuan cooking. So Chinese New Year arrived, and the Dog was howling for a taste of the homeland. Luckily we found Wei Wei BBQ & Noodle House in Pukalani which is one of a few quicky steam table type Chinese take-out places scattered over the island. I read it was under new management, so we gave it a shot. The quality of food was actually quite good, and was ready for take out when I arrived. I ordered ginger chicken, roast duck, sweet and sour pork and egg foo young. The chicken and duck were very good with generous portions. The egg foo young was more like an omelette, but was quite tasty. The sweet and sour pork was on the weak soggy side. I also ordered crispy noodle gau gee, but they gave us the soft noodles instead. All in all, until an enterprising chef from Honolulu heads over to Maui, Wei Wei is an acceptable offering. read more

Got the lemon chicken mini plate. It came with lots of chicken and the lemon sauce was in a container so I could put however much I wanted. The lemon sauce was nice and light with good lemon flavor. Chicken was lightly coated and crunchy. Rice and mac salad was well done. Also got the cake noodles. The cake noodles had good crispy outside and tender inside. The vegetables and meat were in a flavorful gravy which came separate. This keeps the noodles crispy until you pour the gravy goodness over them. BBQ plate had good amount of meat and very flavorful. What was great was nothing was overly salty and we did not feel overly thirsty after this great meal. After ziplining at Piiholo Ranch, we had some time to kill before our reservation at the Hali'maile General Store. For those of you familiar with the area, there is nothing around there to kill time with. I was starving and foudn this plaza that contained a Starbucks, market, Wei Wei, and a KFC. I decided to give Wei Wei a try and was surprised to find Chinese food along with other traditional Asian and Hawaiin foods. The place was empty, so the service was quick. Great Loco Moco needs to have a combination of flavorful gravy, moist and not over cooked/dry patty, and a fried egg that is just a tiny bit runny. This satisfied all of these requirements. Seriously, best gravy I have had in a loco moco dish.The patty was delicious; packed with spices and green onions. It makes me sad that I won't be able to come back and get this soon. I'm a huge fan of the loco moco, and I have to say, this is hands down one of the best places I've tried the dish at! A lot of fast food style restaurants just use frozen hamburger patties which don't nearly measure up to the tastiness of a hand formed patty, which wei wei has! Ordered the Crispy Gau Gee Mein. Although the noodle dish was tasty, the Gau Gee was not. The crispy Gau Gee was crispy, however it was pre cooked and was sitting for a long long long long time! Yesterday when I asked if I could pay more for all white meat in the orange chicken, the answer was, "No, it's all pre-made." The chicken had gristle and bone in every bite.
