I had never sketched anything in my life but on this day you wouldn't have known that. By following a few different prompts off we went and everyone in the class created some very cool sketches. The atmosphere in the classroom space was perfect for finding your creative vibes. Sometimes the sketch classes walk down to the pier to sketch the pier. I liked the instructor and would definitely come back here again to try some more art or crafting. Create Cafe got a pretty cool write up in this month's issue of Orange Coast Magazine dedicated to Hidden O.C. and I would say this place really is a hidden little gift the business owner has made for O.C.

I needed help with tool recommendations and the staff help me pick out the ones that would work best for my mug. I also was impressed with the final glaze. I have painted a few pottery pieces over the years and the glaze at Fired Up is the absolute best! What a creative way to spend the afternoon!…read more I was part of a Turkish mosaic lamp class hosted at Art Masterclass. First off - it's definitely harder to make them than it seems. lol If you have option paralysis or get overwhelmed easily, prepare yourself! Look at alllllll the colors in my photos available to use and maybe plan ahead. They provide templates of different floral, geometric, and banded designs that you can use, but you can go off-script if your noggin comes up with an idea! They give you a decent amount of time to create a design, glue said design in place, and then fill the rest of your lamp's empty space in with the tiny glass beads. There are a few final steps you can't complete while in "class" but that's due to the glue needing time to sit. You're not left in the dark however, as they show you a how-to video which is included in your take-home kit via a QR code. =) I noticed this place has other classes that seem like fun (terrarium and some sort of small dish painting?). I may need to return. Notes: - You interact with glue so you'll likely get messy. - There's a restroom to wash your hands, or if nature calls. - In the small bead fill-in time frame, everyone drops them. It's human. It became part of the experience. Aim for your tray!

It was totally fun and doable for my friends who are not generally crafting people! The studio has great decorations and ambiance, Davina gave us glasses, glow in the dark hair clip, and a hat to take home with us. The final painting is so pretty and glows in the dark. Super recommend, especially for kids, families, friends. COVID - we didn't wear masks but you could wear masks. Davina shared she is vaxxed and boosted.
