Unfortunately, he does a quick inspection and unintentionally underestimates the work that he will end up doing and over promises. It takes him forever to complete a job, as he constantly leaves the job to go get supplies he should have brought with him to start with. He never arrives before 10 a.m. at the earliest, he scratched up my brass fireplace screen and removed the insulation when he took it for some repairs and was going to put in new insulation. He reinstalled it without insulation, unbeknownst to me at the time, and I ended up having to pay someone else to come to my home and do that. He quit returning my calls and e-mails, and has now left town and moved to Florida with the promise he will return in a few months. He left a job for friends of mine with much still to be done, and, unfortunately, they had gone ahead and paid him. They have no idea when or if he will be back. My suggestion is do not pay him until the job is completed to your satisfaction, and expect him to take months to complete it, as he works in fits and starts and ends up taking forever to do something that was initially stated would take 2-5 days. I think he means well, but he just has no clue how to run a business.
