We helped him and since (it's now August 14th) we have not had anyone here to work in nearly 3 weeks and don't have any updates. We are looking at our options to recover the fees and want to make sure folks know what's happening. We hope he makes this right and finishes our project and I'll update as we get more progress.

We believed him because of his extensive experience (20 years?). He gave us a quote within a day and scheduled for a time to install. He and his incredible crew arrived on time and completed this entire job within FOUR HOURS. We were stunned and very pleased with the result. He successfully salvaged our original marble hearth and also suggested what type of surround to use. The picture shows our completed project. They identified a fault with the seal around the gas pipe which was not with proper material and were able to correct and seal it properly. The exterior and part of the attic they could check was checked and I was given advise on next steps along with an upgrade option for future consideration. I was also shown how to open and close the damper and I felt very comfortable asking questions. Very surprised with our experience. In fact, super surprised. Massively surprised. These folks…read moreare really good, right???? We used Art of Stone for a $100,000 project. They did OK work on the landscaping and stone work. Concrete --- not so much. Four of the regular concrete pads had cracks within 72 hours. Suzanne agreed to replace them after discussion. The workers damaged two more pads while removing the four bad pads. (It's not exactly best practice to use a sledge hammer.) :-) So they replaced six --- good right? But they used a different formula. So the new pads do not match. We still have four major cracks in the decorative concrete. (Is it decorative if it's cracked? :-) The workers spilled regular cement along the entire length of the decorative concrete. About half of the spilled cement was removed but the differentiation was ruined. (Is it decorative if it's partially covered by regular cement? :-) We had concrete splatter across the entire back of house. Some as high as 12 feet up. Incurred damage of $3,000 per the Art of Stone insurance appraiser. The Art of Stone quote called for plastic sheeting to protect the house but, well.... And I should probably mention that we have some large chips out of concrete and that it is crumbling along the cut lines. We received an insurance settlement of $4K for the splatter and some additional issues. But..... Art of Stone is not covered for quality of materials or workmanship. So we're stuck. Bummer. Don't like it. People comment on the cracks but we can't afford to replace it. And Jason/Suzanne are gone. Weird. Bummer, etc......

His work has completely gone downhill, and he clearly has major issues finishing jobs. Most recently, he scammed me out of $470. He promised to order my logs, and weeks later--nothing. First, it was a bunch of excuses, and now he has completely vanished. Worse? He blocked all my phone numbers. There is something seriously wrong here. It's clear he is using customers' money for something else because this pattern of delays, excuses, and disappearing acts is constant. DO NOT pay him upfront. DO NOT hire him. If you ignore this warning, expect to get ripped off. To make matters worse, he also did logs for my friends (who I had originally recommended him to), and they arrived broken. During the visit I told him the remote was already lighting up, so it didn't need batteries. It made NO sense to change them to begin with. Nowhere during his visit did he exhibit expertise that warranted a $399 visit "for his time" (his words). After calling and emailing multiple times with absolutely no response, I texted Lance who was, it turns out, the owner, although this had never been conveyed. When we got on the phone, he was in a bad mood, called it an "f-in" (but used the real word) Monday and then proceeded to talk about how awesome he is, how much his time is worth, how many awards he has won, etc. He also said, "You are one of those people who lives in a world where you think the customer is always right, and you have no clue about the real world." He was so rude and disrespectful. My entire call with him was to understand why the invoice was $399. You can tell I'm not the first person to ever question this based on his response. I would NEVER use this company again. His work is overpriced, I'm not convinced he understands fireplaces since he changed batteries in a remote that was clearly working, communication is terrible, and his fees are not clear at all.
