PLEASE listen to the bad reviews - they are 100% accurate. I used Neal 10 years ago, and back then, his service was great. I even recommended him to family and friends. But now? His work has completely gone downhill, and he clearly has major issues finishing jobs. Most recently, he scammed me out of $470. He promised to order my logs, and weeks later--nothing. First, it was a bunch of excuses, and now he has completely vanished. Worse? He blocked all my phone numbers. There is something seriously wrong here. It's clear he is using customers' money for something else because this pattern of delays, excuses, and disappearing acts is constant. DO NOT pay him upfront. DO NOT hire him. If you ignore this warning, expect to get ripped off. To make matters worse, he also did logs for my friends (who I had originally recommended him to), and they arrived broken. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I wish I could select less that one star. Do not do business with this company. I purchased the home a few months ago and wanted the fireplace cleaned. Everything was working prior to the service on 11/9/21. On 11/9/21, Neal sent out his technician, Clayton to clean the gas fireplace. In the process of cleaning the fireplace, Clayton was making some loud noises so I asked him to be careful and not to break it. He asked me to back away and not hover over him. (I came out of the room because I heard the noises.) Shortly thereafter, he advised me that he had accidentally broken the pilot assembly. He assured me that he would return to replace the part. I believed him and paid for the service. (Stupid me!). He seemed like an honest person and the owner was a veteran. I have left numerous messages to no avail. No one has returned my call. I've spent close to $800 for another company to repair the problem. The pilot assembly had to be replaced. I would warn anyone who is considering using this company to be careful. I recently moved into a new house and discovered our gas fireplace had a leak. I contacted Chimney Service Experts and received a call back and email from Neal promptly. Instead of charging me to come out and diagnose the problem, which he could have easily done and I would have expected, Neal took the time to write very detailed step by step instructions on how to diagnose the issue, and how to fix what is most commonly the problem. Well turns out I was able to fix the problem following his instructions, and now we are happily enjoying our fireplace without the leak and a few extra bucks in our pocket. Neel arrived at the appointment time, did the inspection, gave me his recommendations, said he would email a proposal that night with everything discussed and was paid his $199 00 chimney inspection fee. A couple days & no email/call from him so I texted & he replied he would get it for me when he got back to the shop. A couple more days & still no info so I left a voicemail. Neal knows his business and takes it serious. He is excellent at what he does and a true professional through & through. We had him service all 3 of our fireplaces. They had been sorely neglected by the previous owners. We were happy Neal came in cleaned them up, serviced them and got them all working in perfect condition. We also ordered beautiful new birch logs for our keeping room and them improved the space so much. We liked them so much we just ordered a bigger set for our great room. Great service even though I got bad news and a hefty estimate (Thanks unlicensed contractor I used beforehand) Neal was friendly and efficient- Also my cat liked him so that's an extra star there He let me know what exactly was wrong with my fireplace (everything) and how much it would cost to get it fixed--and why I need to get it fixed. The fireplace is literally crumbling but his even attitude made me resist my initial panic. I called and spoke with Patty. After extensive explanation of what I have, I was told that I'd have to spend $1700 to fix this. Also, a different man would come out first to prepare it. Patty instructed me that I'd have to call this man and stay on his butt about "actually showing up." I explained I'm an icu nurse and I'm not taking a day off for someone who "might show up." She also told me to start calling/hounding him now. When I hear that I have to hunt someone down to pay $1700 to fix something, no thank you. They were great and considerate of my house: laying out a mat before beginning work, told me everything that needed to be done today and everything that needs to be done in the future. He worked with us a lot to plan out the new fireplace until we were happy with every piece of it. I talked to a lot of chimney cleaners around here but none of them had the certifications and the knowledge this company has. Fantastic experience ! We had another company do our chimney sweep we were told we had a chimney fire and we should not have any more burning fires until we replace our chimney we were told the company Marco who is the manufacture of our chimney went out of business and parts are no longer available therefore we would have to replace the fireplace and were quoted just shy of $10,000. It would take 1 to 3 weeks to finish and we would have to redo our mantle etc! After doing research we found there are parts available and Neal was able to supply the parts and fix our fireplace in one day! Clayton was the technician and he had an associate with him they were very respectful of the property and cleaned up any mess they had to make it was immaculate when they left. We went ahead and decided on gas logs moving forward they also installed chard Majestic Oak and it looks fabulous. To fix the fireplace was roughly $2400 adding the fire logs it cost roughly $ 3000 all in labor parts materials and new gas logs. Neal and his team are " a diamond in the rough ". read more
