Since buying the house, the lawn had become patchy and overgrown, and we were ready to have someone help us maintain it. We were really impressed with his knowledge, professionalism, and all the recommendations he had for year-long care (when we could replant grass, when we should do cleanups, etc). We were given an estimate for an initial cleanup cost and a monthly cost with a year-long contract. What we understood was that overall yard maintenance after the cleanup would be included, and any seasonal things (aerating, seeding, bed care, etc) would be extra. Our yard consists of pine straw beds with a few bushes (no flower beds or gardens), monkeygrass edging, and fescue lawn. Within 2 months, we started feeling unsatisfied; the weeds in the beds were growing, the ivy was growing over the fence, and the edging was overgrown. One man on Brian's staff came at MOST every 2 weeks and spent no more than 20 minutes doing the front and backyard. We wouldn't even care how long it took if we felt like the job was complete. So, we emailed Brian and tried to communicate our dissatisfaction. We were told that our maintenance contract only included lawn mowing, blowing (leaves not carried away- curbside), and "edging" (but not if it's monkeygrass edging). All the weeds growing in the beds though the pine straw and the ivy growing over the fence and onto the driveway were not their responsibility. We were not pleased, but we still said that we would entertain any estimate for "extra" work to have our yard looking professionally managed. Over the fall, when we were promised longer service because of all the leaves, the service was no extra, and all but one time the leaves and debris were actually blown into the ivy to the side of the driveway and never bagged. Each time we complained, we were told stories about how his staff works a lot with second jobs, may be tired, and will be talked to. No changes. We were given an estimate for the aeration and overseed, and we accepted because we were hoping the patchy lawn would improve. Over the winter, the visits became fewer and, when asked, it was because it was the "dormant" season. So, now, service was at most 20-30 minutes per month. This Spring, aka the growing season, we have seen them twice in April and only once in the first week of May. They kept cancelling due to rain, but here we are mid June and no one has been since May 3rd. You can imagine how long our grass is. Our lawn is still patchy. The beds are embarrassingly overgrown. The grass is intermixed with weeds. The monkeygrass edging is so overgrown parts are browning. The ivy is over the fence and encroaching on all the trees. Frankly, my family is shocked when I tell them that we have a lawn service. It has become embarrassing that we have spent that money for the past entire year with the yard looking like it does. We never declined estimates for extra work. All we wanted was a well kept yard we could be proud of and an open line of communication. We still find Brian professional and likely very knowledgeable. However, we felt as though we were put last as clients; We surely hope that all his customers weren't missed for more than an entire month. We have tried talking in person and by email about expectations. If we could post pictures, we think the yard would speak for itself with regards to whether we can recommend this business. We can't imagine that our yard is what Brian would want on the front his business cards..... Disappointing end, and now we have to begin the search for another company and pay another "clean up" initial fee because it is such a mess.

Biggest issue with the session was Mark's constant reference to cost and condecending tone when providing 'advice' about working with a HOA, which suggested he did not assume we could afford to remodel our home. This caused me to suspect he is not accustomed to working with people of color, but in the spirit of experiencing a teachable moment, if someone agrees to pay you over $200 above your typical fee to get you to travel outside of your normal geographic range of services to draw up a plan for a renewed front yard, it is probably safe to assume they understand the concept of a HOA and can afford to buy the desired plants and hire landscapers.

My contractor hired BTDT when they were demo-ing my entire first floor after a flood. The dumpster…read morewas delivered and picked up when it was full without issue twice. When they came to pick up/drop off the third time, the driver was WAY too close to my house. My contractors were outside watching him and told him he was too close, and in the process of him backing up and pulling forward several times to try to get it right, he somehow dropped the dumpster off the hook (or whatever it is). It hit some things that were in front of my garage door, which pushed them into the door and bent the bottom 2 panels and tore the J-frame loose inside the garage. I was home and heard a bang so loud that I thought it was an explosion. The three men from the contracting company were standing outside and saw it happen. I gave it a week or so and when I hadn't heard from BTDT about the damage their driver caused, I called them. It took days of calling before I could get the manager (?), Jordi to respond to me and then I was floored by his behavior. Within moments of getting on the phone with him he was belligerent. He said he looked at the Google Maps Street View of my house and that the door was already damaged and that the dumpster never touched my house. The more I tried to reason with him, the more hostile he became, and I will admit that by the end I was matching his tone. He said all I heard was an empty dumpster hitting the ground and implied I'm too stupid to know the difference. He accused me of trying to scam BTDT and even said I "clearly don't care about my property" and hung up on me twice. One of my garage doors was broken on the top panel, but it was the OTHER door. The door that was hit wasn't broken! It wasn't down quite all the way because I never used that side but that's all. I sent him pics of the damage and he still refused to admit the dumpster hit my house. He said there would be bright green paint on it. I tried to get him to come out and actually see it instead of relying on a single pic from the last driver that picked it up, but he wouldn't even acknowledge me about it other than to say any damage there now I did myself. When the contractors came again the next day, I told them about it and they actually had pics of it. See attached. In front of the door is a moped with the kickstand on the dumpster side, a 5 gallon paint bucket, and a commercial, cast steel, Toledo Chopper meat grinder that weighs 50+ pounds. You can clearly see in the pic that the dumpster hit it, pushing it into the bucket and pushing the bucket into the door. It's lucky the moped and bucket were there to absorb some of the velocity or who knows how bad it would have been. Also attached is a pic of the bright green paint on the meat grinder. He even sent a video from inside the cab that shows the dumpster fall, the driver freak out then ask the contractors if it hit the house, then start cussing when they said it did. But even with all this, he won't admit it happened and stopped responding to my calls and texts when I sent the pic of it against the garage door. Eventually, I went to the contractor since they're the actual customer, and he couldn't even get them to respond to him at all. This company will damage your property, mansplain you how sound works, insult you, accuse you of deliberately trying to scam them, and then ghost you. For this to have happened in the midst of catastrophic flood damage makes it even worse. This was one of the hardest months of my life and BTDT made it far worse.
