I love this art fair. We go every year. It's right before Christmas and they have a great variety…read moreof vendors, most of it local. I always find at least one Christmas gift there. This year is was baked good for my Christmas party, one year it was homemade colored and flavored lip balms for my granddaughters, one year it was a garden stake gift for my best friend. This year my best friend found jewelry for herself. And most years I find something I want for myself too, but at Christmas time I try to be frugal so I rarely get myself anything. Parking can be difficult, but go early and you'll have better luck finding a spot.

Please someone stop me! Next year I vow NOT to buy any Christmas gifts before I shop here. I…read morefound something for practically everyone here (well, not my redneck bro-in-law or my uber conservative brother). Some folks I had already bought gifts for are gonna get tons cause I just could not pass up the cuteness and bought more. First, it's FREE to get in and it's huge with a variety of unique things to look at, alot of which is very affordable. I got handmade soaps for all the ladies and cute little bottlecap keychains for my newly driving nieces and a day of the dead necklace for my best girlfriend who misses Austin so much. I also got sugar scrub and a mermaid necklace for me! Some really creative stuff here....jewelry made from buttons and recycled tin cans, sweet little vintage material purses, super soft clothes made from organic material, and of course all the whimsical screen printed baby tees. Wish I had more babies to buy for! They also have a cafeteria that looked to be serving mostly tacos but I didn't partake. Parking and driving in the area can be a bear as it is insanely packed. It's so worth it though! I vowed I would try to buy all locally made gifts for everyone this year and I did. They may not be an XBOX 360, but they are unique and bought with every person's personality in mind. That makes it special!** **that being said, I hope my Abilene kin, who think I'm weird just for living in Austin, can appreciate it. It's better than the Wal-Mart sweater I will get from them for sure!**

I discovered Feto at the Cedar Park Farmer's Market and adored the owner and her products. The…read moreowner Lisa Chouinard's products are handmade in Austin and the farmer's market display included Shea butter scrubs, honey glycerin soap, bath bombs, lotion bars, lip balms and oil based perfumes. The honey soap has a wonderful scent and is in the shape of honeycomb and bees. She has a 4 for $20 deal and I chose 3 bath bombs and an oil based perfume spray. If you are a fan of Lush bath bombs and consider yourself a lacavore, try Feto's bath bombs. The bath bombs are fizzy, scented but not over bearing and come in natural hues. I bought the lavender, honey oatmeal fizz and birthday cake. I found the scent of the lavender bath bomb very relaxing. The honey oatmeal has a light sweet smell. My favorite however was the birthday cake! It smelled like cake batter and had oils that make for a moisturizing bath. I have allergies and perfumes typically kick off a sneeze-a-thon. The yuzu Japanese citrus spray I purchased is fragrant without making your nose twitch. At the farmer's market she also has a soap making booth perfect for kids. There is a table full of small toys to choose from and Lisa walks them through making their own personalized soap. What better incentive for the kiddos to keep clean than putting a toy in the middle of a soap that they made? There are additional products on her website to include products that would be great as party favors for anything from rubber ducky soaps for baby showers to novelty soaps for a bachelorette party.

Nice, friendly, helpful staff. Fast check out. All the bath bombs smell nice and look cute. My skin…read morefelt great after wards.

Alright, so it took me about six years to return to this place because I had some major PTSD from…read morean employee (who still happens to work here unfortunately). However, this time was a lot different and I was able to find the perfect gifts for my friend's birthday as well as fun items for myself. It seems like the selection has remained the same although Atown is keeping up with current and modern trends. For example, there were a lot of ICE based items tucked away as well as current celebrity crushes who are on everybody's minds. The coolest thing I found was a James Talarico candle but other than that, a lot of the items that were for sale were pretty kitschy and I believe they are the same wholesale items I have seen before. I must shoutout the incredibly helpful service from Audrey who went above and beyond to help me find items for my friend's birthday. She was super sweet, and I would've been wandering around the store aimlessly if it wasn't for her direction. Additionally, she even came up with combination gift ideas which was pretty sick. Atown is lucky to have her! I think my PTSD is no longer because of her assistance. Great store, unfortunately high prices. However, no one does it like Atown!

There are 3 or 4 separate areas you can visit and they have things from locally made earrings and art to coasters, desk plates, rubber ducks of famous people, religious candles with random famous people, funny socks, clothes, and so much more. The staff is friendly and outgoing, they even had a woman at the door greeting you and offering you a hand basket if you wanted or needed one. There were 3 or 4 cashiers and at least one lady walking around greeting you and seeing if they could help. It is pricier then your chain store but the products are cooler, unique, and many times locally made. Things you can't get at other stores or amazon. Like so many places, it's one downside is parking. It is a small lot, if you part in front you basically have to back in to spot blocking traffic or back out into traffic. There is a small side lot that is better but you basically have to 3 point turn out of that spot. Always willing to pay a bit more to support local. We don't get out of our area/comfort zone much but we do love this place. #Supportlocal
