Ever since I found this gas station, I've literally have gone no where else. Coming from California, we have no ethanol in our gas so after doing some research I decided to X out all the ethanol I had been putting in my sweet baby vehicle and going back to no ethanol gasoline. The staff at Waynes Automotive are great, they even have a shop next door for your mechanical needs. Feeling lazy? No problem, they'll pump your gas if you park in the first pump in front of the door. For an added cost of course. Anyway, the prices are not much different from other gas stations and I'd say it's sometimes cheaper at Waynes than other gas stations. They also sell gift cards. read more

I am extremely satisfied with Wayne's Auto. I bought a used BMW in August, 2013 and took it two other places before I started taking it here--one was a dealership and the other was an import auto service shop. I felt the dealership tried to take advantage and get me to fix every little thing even if it didn't need it, and I didn't feel the import shop did a very good job. I've gone to Wayne's for oil changes and repairs/maintenance for the last two years. Wayne's BMW tech has been honest, gives me a fair price, and does a good job. They even give you a follow-up call to see if you were satisfied. I have been meaning to write this review for awhile, but have put it off. I guess Catholic guilt has finally gotten the better of me. I'm tired of seeing it on my to-do list, and since they've earned a good review, I'm paying up! I think I might even snail-mail a thank you card to them for being so great. This place does not look fancy, but don't judge a book by it's cover. I'd be surprised if you regretted it. read more

I own an older model BMW and I highly recommend Wayne's Automotive. They are an honest shop owned by a hard working family. The shop is humble looking but what they lack in luxury they make up in honesty and quality. Adam is a BMW certified mechanic and through the years he has done a fantastic job for us. Because Wayne's is a small shop you can expect to wait a few days for service but it is well worth it. A while back I had an Alternator failure and Wayne's schedule was full so I decided to go to another reputable shop (highly rated in Yelp) in Sun Prairie. Long story short, I had to bring the car back to Adam to sort out the nightmare left by the other mechanic. Through the years they have worked on breaks, water pump, cooling system preventive maintenance, sensors replacement, and all standard maintenance. Adam always gives you a good advice even when it goes against his pocket. For example, a good friend of mine had a catastrophic failure on his BMW and he brought the car to Wayne's. After figuring out what the car had they recommended to take the car to another mechanic better suited for that particular job. That is what I call honesty! If you have a BMW and want a great mechanic do not hesitate on Wayne's Automotive. read more

Took my truck in to have rear lights diagnosed and repaired. Turned into a $1200+ job. Far, far exceeded cost threshold without communication, approval to continue work. Technicians didn't know how to handle computer automation regarding wiring and key fob updates and the repair took days. Poor diagnosis, lack of communication, admitted lack of technical expertise, knowledge to solve the problem. Given reputation probably good for basic repairs but not good for complex on-board computer and diagnostic-related repairs. To make things worse, tried to charge me without applying $250 down payment for parts. read more

Gave Wayne's a call to see about having some work done on a vehicle, spoke to Wayne himself. I explained that I had my own parts (brands I trust, through a company I trust) and was just looking for a rough quote on labor. Wayne replied with a short "not interested" and a condescending "bye". I could understand if he had first said "I offer equivalent parts, with warranty, and I'll beat any price you get", but HE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TIME TO SAY THAT! Now, if you're going to establish a relationship with a shop, it might be better to do it with another as this one probably doesn't have time for you on the phone, let alone in person. Also, it should be noted that with this train of thought no one but a factory trained technician, working under the corporate flag of your vehicle manufacturer should be touching your car for repair, as anyone but the manufacturer is sub par. With that I'll take the car elsewhere, even if it costs more. Wayne's "better than that" attitude isn't even a bargain at half off! Good going on killing it for good independents Wayne! read more

I hate to let a good secret out but these folks not only work on lawn mowers but have a trained and certified BMW mechanic on staff. They were fast, did excellent work and were totally affordable and when fixing a BMW affordable is rarely a word used. They work on other cars as well but I can't speak to that. They also we t over my car and let me know what preventative work will be needed and about how much time I had to get it done. Being new to Madison I was worried about finding a mechanic I could trust. I'm not worried anymore. read more

I read MM's review below, and then checked out MM's other views and came to the conclusion that MM is kind of a cranky moron who's bizarre complaint needed an answer: Mechanically speaking, Wayne's is the shit. In a demonstration of mechanical love, they also have ethanol free gas on tap. Gas-o-hol can be very hard on the rubber/plastic components of older vehicle's fuel systems as well as most power equipment. This goes ditto for relatively modern carbureted dirt bikes, but I digress. We have been having Wayne's do our auto service for several years and they are honest, skilled and have given good realistic advice about our options in terms of repairs. We have had zero negative experiences w/Wayne's. After my partner's last brake job (one brake pad wore through to the metal and scored the disc a bit), I noticed that Wayne's had resurfaced that brake disk w/o charging us. I've had shops (Midas for instance) try to claim I needed a new disc d/t the same sort of mild scoring. Last week Wayne inspected my partner's leaky gas filler hose and fixed it on the spot, despite her being a drop in ( admittedly it was just a loose hose clamp). Amazingly, he did this for free along with giving her some good advice. Will you get free stuff from Wayne's too? I have no idea, but I love the fact that as regular customers, my partner and I are treated like regular customers rather than a revenue stream to be exploited. We feel like that's something that has been lost at many places and something we really value. It's totally old school to have a neighborhood garage that one can trust, and having employees with interesting facial hair is certainly a bonus . Lastly, there are shops I know of where I might advise women to send a male friend or partner/spouse to negotiate repairs d/t the possibility that that shop might try to rip off women. I have no such concerns with Wayne's-I'd even send my Mom there. My only lament is that Wayne's long time lawn mower repair person seems to have retired, thus that awesome service is no longer offered. Having said all of this, like the reviewer below,I want to urge you not to go to Wayne's because currently, Wayne's has been able to book us in and get our repairs and maintenance done very quickly. Selfishly, I'd hate to see that change-I only make this rather long winded comment out of my desire to counter MM's low ratings (Really MM, you had to rip him twice on the same service all those months apart?). In closing, I cannot imagine a nice friendly honest straight shooting dude like Wayne or any of his employees raising his/their voices to anyone who wasn't extraordinarily and persistently silly. read more

Wayne's is the only station I know of that has all three grades of fuel without alcohol. When I have been anywhere near Madison, Wayne's gasoline is the only fuel that's gone in my BMW for nearly five years. I dread the thought of paying for repairs to anything on my car, but I know that I am buying a quality fuel without water in it from Wayne's. It is a service station with mechanics working the cash register. Wayne and his wife, Kathy are there most days. When I pull in, the pumps get turned on for me. I am their customer and they recognize me. Once I needed a cap for my tire and a mechanic gave one to me. On 12/10/14 at 7:45PM, I was checking my oil and dropped the cap into the cradle below the engine as my tank filled. I went in to pay and told the man at the register. He was a mechanic named Mike, cleaning up the shop at the end of the day and ready to go home at closing time, 8PM. Mike came out to my car and got underneath it, pounding on the cradle to free the cap. He asked me to turn the wheel and got my cap after about 5 minutes. Wayne's is a service station. Both their fuel and service are top-notch. Oh, they fixed my snow blower too. read more

All I've heard is good things about Wayne's. I used to gas up there whenever I was in town. I just moved from Arizona 10 days ago. The idiots at U-haul in Flagstaff managed to get the car at a angle and ripped off a few pieces including my front bumper, and the rear springs finally were broken in thanks to u-haul. So when I got to Madison to start my new life, I made a appointment with Waynes. From all the good reviews, I expected the service others recieved. I told them exactly what I was having issues with, and waited a week to get in. Got to the shop and whomever was the mechanic told me there wasn't anything he could do because of aftermarket parts. I asked about the transmission and was told the car would have to sit for 4-5 hours, but wouldn't take the time to wait. The engine underside skid plate had been ripped off. Wouldn't put it on because it was damaged, pulled my car out and went to work on something else. He pulled out my car and told me to leave. I don't know what caused the attitude. I asked for another shop and they thought there might be one on the west side of town. Looked online and found and found Kelly-Moss was a dealer for the KW suspensions. They got me right in with no issues. I'll still give a couple stars for the gas station and people working the counter. I won't give any for the tech who should have looked at the jobs coming up and could have told me they wouldn't work on it. Luckily other there are other options in Madison which they were too busy to give me a referell for a shop that could do the work, or a body shop to fix the bumper. They said maybe a shop on the west side. Fifteen minutes later I was sitting in the waiting room at Kelly-Moss while they took car of it. read more

Having been a customer of Wayne's for years as far as the fuel goes, i thought i would see what he could do as far as mechanical work for me on my older truck. I had my brakes go out and I had to have it towed in. It took a little while for him to get my truck in and do an inspection since he runs tight as far as mechanical work. Wayne and his Wife(she is behind the cash register all the time) kept me informed in what it needed to have done. The charges were completely reasonable and Wayne himself went above and beyond took care of a few extra things he found. All in All Wayne,his Wife,and Mike the weekend manager are all very competent and very reasonable with what they charge for the work they perform. Wayne's is one of the very few places i trust completely with the safety of my vehicle and their honesty and you dont feel they are out there to gouge you with things you dont need. We even had a flat tire on the 4th of July one yr and no one else was open but Wayne's was, He even took care of our flat right on the spot read more

Brought a vehicle to Wayne's for repair. When he explained his diagnosis he raised his voice at me for no reason. That should have been enough for me to take the car back, but I gave him the job. They broke a $40 part on the car when working on it and charged me for it. They told me that it needed the part that they broke replaced which they had to order, but in the meantime they put the original one back on without attaching it to the engine properly, and didn't say anything about it. Therefore I was driving around in a car which could have lost its coolant at any time without warning. That was enough for me to look elsewhere for auto repair. Although I live within walking distance from Wayne's I will never patronize them again. read more

By far, the best gas station, small engine repair spot in town. I would never go anywhere else. Everybody is friendly and goes above and beyond when dealing with customers. I had trouble loosening the bolts that held my license plate on. After fifteen minutes, using every tool in the garage, they were able to get the bolt off. They didn't charge me but I tipped the gentleman 10 bucks because he truly went above and beyond. A neighborhood business that deserves our business... read more
