I was on a cross country roadtrip when I started haveing engine trouble. I got to Madison, WI and needed the car fixed. I was terrified of being taken advantage of. All this was foreign to me as I did not have a car for most of my life. I called around to MANY transmission shops. When I found Midwest Engine Service I knew I was in the right place. From the get go, I was reassured by the kind voice on the phone. I spoke with the owner, Wayne. He went over the issue with my transmission top to bottom. He spoke in laymen's terms, so I actually understood what he was saying. Not only did I feel comfortable trusting Midwest Engine, they gave me the best quote and fastest turn around! Wayne kept me informed step by step, as I was still trying to finish my roadtrip. It seemed I needed a new axle, so I added that to the work order. Again, Waynes' thoughtful words and actions helped keep me at ease. When I got the call that the car was done, the price was even lower than the quote. This included the axle as well! I was so happy with the quality of work, the service and the trusting comfort they gave me. I was able to get back on the road the next morning. Finally, I was leaving Madison. As I was driving out of town that following morning, I got a call from Wayne. I instantly thought he was going to say they needed the car back or something. Why else would they be calling? It was Wayne. He called to make sure the car was running smoothly and that I had made it out of town ok. He then told me he also called to wish me a safe rest of my trip. I felt blessed. I had definitely found the greatest mechanic and team. They are just lovely, honest and have human integrity. Thank you Wayne & the team.

    Long post warning. Bottom line is they ripped me off and will to the same to you. Dishonest, shady…read morebusiness practices. Battery warning light came on in my 2010 Toyota Camry. Stopped by O'Reilly auto parts. They used a small electrical device to check the system. It took them about five minutes. They told me the alternator was bad and needed replacing and didn't charge me anything for the diagnostic. I called Midwest and was told it would cost $750 to replace the alternator. The next day I had to have my car towed into Midwest. They informed me I needed to have a diagnosis performed for $189.99. I questioned that but they told me if it was not an alternator problem, I was going to have to pay for an alternator in addition to whatever they found wrong with the vehicle. I later contacted Meineke and they informed me an electrical diagnosis charge was $68. When Midwest called me, I was informed that it was going to be $850 to repair the alternator. I balked at that because I told him I had been told it would be $750. He stated he could "make that work." My suspicions grew. I went online to research what replacing an alternator entailed. I found two YouTube videos that showed how to replace an alternator in 15 to 30 minutes on a 2010 Camry. The alternator is held on by two bolts. When I went to pick up the car they charged me $506 for a remanufactured alternator when I could've bought one new for $329 from Carquest. They charged me $344.91 in labor to replace the alternator and two serpentine belts. Again, for 30-minute job. Total bill was $1176.88. Even with the Costco discount, it was a rip off. Jeff N.

    I would like to give everybody here a warning about dealing with Gesells Automotive…read more My parents brought a 2006 Buick Lucerne into them for a small antifreeze leak and a power steering leak... This turned into a 4,800 bill. They ended up tearing the engine apart finding it needed timing chains and a bunch of other things. They put the engine back together set the timing wrong, and then tried to blame it on a "sensor that was too sensitive" And it was perfectly fine and not to worry about it I called them out on this they took the vehicle back and then had it for 4 months... 6 months total it took them to finally get the vehicle working. They then tried to blame a gear on the camshaft, It was fine It was eventually taken to a GM dealer which they paid for after threatening them with legal action they set the time incorrectly My mom finally gets her car back, The suspension light is on they broke off the suspension sensors when they lifted it up... Under no circumstances should you deal with them, they are completely 100% incompetent, The owner doesn't give a shit he had my parents vehicle for 6 months and kept on making excuses until legal action was threatened. As of right now it's still not right it needs an alignment and The broken suspension sensors replaced. The fact he let the car go like this shows he doesn't care. Do not use them You will regret it

I took my car into them because my check engine light was on and my backyard mechanic couldn't figure it out! That was nothing major, it was my gas cap, but doing a few of their simple double checks before they release your car back to you, the crew found a major problem with my gas sensor. They fixed that along with a few loose nuts or bolts ( I'm not sure which) what I do know is I had someone force me off the road the other day and if it wasn't for them taking the time to check my car over, I don't think Dee and I would be here today! Your knowledge and care saved my life! You guys ROCK Thank you !!!

I start my car and the Exact same issue was there! I went right away and they told him and his attitude changed right away! He said sorry we can't help, we were told to just install the parts" they didn't even diagnose the issue they just wanted to make a quick $500! after talking back and forth the General Manager says "you want your f***n money back or what" I then tell him since you want to be disrespectful yes! He said we'll talk Monday and walked away.   Monday comes no call, I leave 3 VM. I went Tuesday and he was very upset that I was there he said sorry the Owner left overseas and I can not refund you until 1 week. Made no sense! He then calls the COPS to my house and says he was scared for his life and Banned me from the shop. Keep in mind I've been going there for 4-5 Years and recommended them many times. I make a claim with the bank to dispute the charges and I get my refund. It is now 12/27/24 about a month later and I NOW I'm being charged $500 again the $500. I said i wasn't going to do the review but all this headache when the GM said we will issue a refund and now they are playing games. So we will be going to court to file a claim. Also i have reached out to the local news and they are looking into it.
