I must have visited ANS two dozen times for a multi-room project that included three bathrooms, a kitchen with countertops, and an open-floor living room. I met Adam on my very first visit, and at the time I hadn't committed to any store, design, or plan in general. From that first conversation, I could tell he was going to be an incredible resource for the scope of our project. What I particularly appreciated was that Adam was never pushy in any particular direction. He listened to all of our ramblings, ideas, and issues and helped us find the right solution rather than trying to steer us toward a particular product. Throughout the multi-month process, Adam showed an incredible amount of patience, kindness, and proactiveness in helping us build our dream home. He started by asking about the styles and inspiration we liked, and from there helped us slowly whittle everything down to the right colors and designs for each room. He was incredibly knowledgeable about different stone types and finishes and how they would affect the overall look and feel of a room. He even went as far as creating beautiful, accurate AI mock-ups of our kitchen when we were indecisive between two countertops. Issue after issue, Adam helped us resolve things with as little stress as possible. At one point, the tile we had initially decided on didn't have enough material available for our project. By the very next day, he had a proper solution lined up, and we didn't experience any downtime on the project. He was constantly flagging potential issues for us to consider--honed vs. polished vs. leather (what a concept!), how different finishes would look in rooms with lots of light or very little light, and all the little details I wouldn't have thought about on my own. Over and over again, I kept thinking, "I couldn't do this without him," and results came out gorgeous. He also helped us purchase materials piecemeal so we didn't end up with a huge amount of leftover material, which ultimately saved us a significant amount of money. Finally, he gave us an excellent recommendation for a marble floor installer. Adam's vision and judgment were spot-on, and the outcome was even better than I could have imagined. He's handsome to boot. I really hope this review helps get Adam's potential and hard work recognized. It is genuinely no exaggeration to say I couldn't have done this project without him, and I certainly think a promotion or raise would be well deserved! Just working overtime to help render multiple AI samples I thought was genius to help us visualize things for those less imaginative.  Beyond Adam's amazing qualities, the entire team I encountered at ANS was incredibly kind and friendly. I genuinely looked forward to visiting every time. Alana and Victoria were always incredibly helpful on the days Adam wasn't there, and they were also happy to weigh in with their own thoughts and opinions. Lorraine was the sweetest and always had treats for my little pup. Robert was also always around as a friendly face. They treated each other really well, too, which says a lot about the environment at the company. And then there's the slabs team: Fernando, Sergio, and Greg. They were so incredibly patient and helpful whenever I needed to look at slabs. There were many times I would ask them to pull and display four different slabs for us to compare. Sometimes they had to do this multiple times in a single day, and sometimes right at closing because I arrived late. They never once made me feel bad about it, even though I'm sure it wasn't the most pleasant thing to do, and they were always incredibly gracious throughout the process. They also helped me and my team load six different truckloads of tile at various points. I mostly watched while providing lots of vocal moral support. One time they were having a BBQ, and Sergio even offered me a burger while Fernando manned the grill. Overall, ANS has an amazing, friendly team, and they have gained a forever client. I'm incredibly grateful for all of their help in making our home what it is.

They sold me unmatched tile, even though they had told me they would match. The invoice actually says "Color does not match, do not sell together". Also, the tiles did not match in height! I didn't sdiscover the mistake until my contractor had already started the prep job. All Natural Stone only gave me the option of returning the tile. I talked with them by phone and in person and they said they would try to give me a "dealer discount" (10%), a pitance considering the the extra work and materials needed to raise the narrower tiles to the other height. The store never got back to me, no compensation, no apology. I would not recommend them but, if you purchase, be extra aware for bait and switch.

Alex's Custom Tile - Tile backsplash

They not only put up the porcelain tile on the walls and floors, but they also installed new counters, mirrors, toilets, and a shower and jacuzzi tub, as well as all the fixtures. (We selected and bought the tile, counters, shower base and tub, and fixtures separately.) Their care and attention to detail was outstanding! In addition, they are very considerate, warm, and friendly--extremely easy to work with! Highly recommended!

Another contractor couldn't start until two weeks later. Alex made a site visit and was very personable. With the lead time, we chose Alex. Right when we chose him, he wanted to start that day! I said OK. That afternoon the demolition began. In two weeks he completed the job. He will work around your schedule. We had a family incident and needed to push back the work a day. We also had to wait a few days for the faucet to be delivered. The hours are up to you. We were OK with his team working into the late evening to get the job done because we were down a bathroom. Vitali and Alex work really really hard and long hours. There were some up sale items, but we picked which ones we wanted. Our vanity was in bad shape; so we updated the vanity, sink, backsplash and faucet. Alex quoted us a great price and offered to do tile flooring which would have made the bathroom even nicer, but we decided that the flooring would be fine. Maybe save that for the next remodel. Going through any type of remodel or home update is emotional and risky. We did a home remodel years back and that's when we learned you can really only choose two of the three: quality, cost, or speed. With Alex we were able to get close to all three. Obviously your home is very dear, and there are small little things that you can sweat over. Your home will never be perfect. Not a year goes by without some work that needs to be done to my home. Things get old and break down. There are many things that I would do over, but everyday I go into my newly updated bathroom and smile.

The Shower Pan King - Removed the old shower pan and installed the tiles, which match the old tiles (before putting back the glass door)

We wanted to go full permit, which was a bit of an adventure. Permit took over a month to get through Oakland planning department, not for completely obvious reasons, but we got it. Dave bid two different cases depending on what was under the shower floor tiles, and behind the wall tiles. He pulled out the shower floor and the pan under it, then went into the four walls, Turns out the problems were dramatic and long standing. Damp, dry-rotted and punky sub-floor, parts of floor joists, wall studs and bottom plate. He carefully removed the tiles (that had a 6 month lead time), removed all the bad wood, called the inspector. No mysteries. Everything clearly visible. They discussed how to fix it all, inspector liked what he heard. New 2 x 3, 2 x 4 lumber and sisters for the joists were screwed into place and the inspector came back. He liked the work. Now the new subfloor was fastened down, and the new shower pan was installed over a tapered base that ensured all the water would get to the drain. The mortar supporting the floor and running up the walls went on. Then the whole new pan was filled with water and the high line marked. After a weekend, it had held all the water and it drained when the temporary block was removed. Tile time. Old shower floor had been a mix of related color tiles, an abstract mosaic. New floor is hexagonal tiles that come very close in color to the wall tiles. Saved wall tiles went on the entrance, and the back wall and sides. New tiles, matching the hex floor exactly, went into the bottom row, and on the inside of the front wall. Saved brown trim went in at the entrance. Now the big glass marble came out: Dave released it in each of the 4 corners, and the marble rolled briskly to center. It stopped on the grate or touching the grate. There you go. It looks like it will out-live me. Dave made smart-phone pictures and movies of each step, documenting each layer as it was revealed, then documented the repairs, the new drain, the new pan, new mortar, tiles and finally grout. He sent them to us as he worked, and posts these on his web site where prospective clients can see what he does. It's worth your time.

I have an old Victorian, so I have worked with many contractors. Dan is at the top of my list. Dan remodeled 2 very ugly and old bathrooms. They had pink tile, pink walls, cheap fixtures and cabinets from a cheap remodel done in the 80s. Dan transformed them into black and white marble works of art. My husband at first said he was afraid to use the bathrooms because they are so nice. They were gutted and most everything but the ceiling replaced. Dan did all the plumbing, tile work, cabinet installations and fixture installations. He even installed a fancy Toto toilet that provides entertainment for everyone. Dan had an electrician come in to do the electrical and he was amazing too. We hit a few bumps in the road, but Dan was always able to work around them. Dan even tolerated my big Akita checking in on him. He did such a great job that I had him remodel the bathroom shower downstairs after he completed the remodel upstairs. I only have one powder room left for him to do. Unfortunately, I am out of money for a little while. But once I recoup. I will be calling Dan to transform that room as well.

We met Dan after he did a job for my brothers apartment, who found him on Yelp. Dan was super responsive and reliable. He replied to all our emails and calls. He showed up on time as promised, and was super clean and attentive. He put down protective mats in the hallways and wiped up any spills. Dan came across as very honest and down to earth. Almost a rare quality this day and age. The quality of his work was amazing. All the grout lines were exact and evenly spaced. The tile was laid out true and square. He check his work as he proceeded, ensuring things stayed aligned. There were only two small items we felt that needed correcting and he did so immediately. We are so impressed with his work and can't recommend him enough. We have one job left and have already planned for him to do that as well. Please consider using Dan if you have any sized job.
