If I had a chance to not select a star I would…read more I've been a long-time customer of Erik's in Grafton as has my wife and her family (10-15 years). To give you an idea we've bought 8 bikes, skis, ski boots, poles, bike helmets, snowboard helmets, biking gear, skiing gear, goggles, sunglasses, bike parts, snowboard & bindings... I could go on. Thousands and thousands of dollars.. My most recent experience, coupled with a few others, has me going in a different direction from this point forward. I'm in the midst of training for an Ironman and recently had my road bike in to have new pads and rotors put on (late July). Picked it up and brakes worked as they should. I also had, based on the suggestion by the service group, to replace my shifting cables as a preventative measure.. to which I did. Along with this recommendation they also suggested I have a drive train clean, which I declined because I have the know-how and ability to do that myself; I don't need to overpay for it. When I got my bike back, I wasn't able to get into my low gear, which was a new problem since the cables were replaced. I had to go back, explain the issue, only to be told the cable housing should have also been replaced (this never came up during my initial visit). So, reluctantly I had them do this. 3 days later when I picked it up the issue was not solved and Chris, one of the managers, told me I hadn't taken care of my bike, and it was a derailer issue and the derailer needed to be replaced. Mind you this bike is 5 years old... I clean my bike routinely and prior to them replacing my shifting cables there were NOT any issues with the shifting. So now this is my fault and you're suggesting I need to replace more parts? My bike is at this shop multiple times a year for various things, so the bike was not new to anyone there. Conversation went on and I was treated so horribly, so rudely, and to think there was zero regard for the thousands of dollars spent at this shop over the years one would expect a completely different experience. Bottom line... Know your customer and never ever make it look like their fault regardless if it is. Your job as a bike shop is to provide solutions, fix bikes, and make the customer feel good about money they're spending and the value you bring... Instead, I felt like I was a nuisance, and my business wasn't valued nor was it needed.

Went on a Sunday closer to closing so either they were tired or thought I was an easy mark…read more I said I wanted to buy 4 bikes and I was looking for a recumbent because I had medical issues. - yelled at kids. Still bought the bike, informed owner, a lackluster apology... I'm pretty sure the gentleman helping me was a relative. - sold wife a brand new bike that was too tall. I said you're the experts so size them up and make sure it all works. Fail. - recumbent trike had issues from day 1, it was floor model for over year but they still said it was "new" but no warranty. I said directly I need this to ride with my family and I'm ok if it doesn't have a warranty but you'll honor service until it works right? They said yes. Three trips back and still makes noise I find unacceptable. Owners final response was "if you wanted a nice bike you shouldn't have bought a cheap one (~$800) To be fair their mechanic was super nice. They attempted to make it right but ultimately their margins were more important than my satisfaction. No more ski rental here and word of mouth will remain pour. It seems weird as their clientele seem like serious bikers and cater to local families. I really want to support local but not at the expense of my and families happiness for something that should be fun. Appreciate you want to run a business but I'm going to refer people to a different company named after parts of a bike (involves sprockets and wheels). I don't think I've written a poor review but after multiple attempts with what I believe was very reasonable and accommodating expectation. My bike now sits on the shelf as I try to sell it as I found service elsewhere. Your mileage may vary.

This shop has upgraded the batteries and sorted out my Trek Vere3 problems. They are my go to bike…read moreshop
