I leave this review as a one time customer, so take this with a grain of salt. I have been through many laundries and cleaners throughout the country, as I travel so frequently for week long stents, and have experienced the best and the worst. Joy Cleaners has been one of the best. I came in after a week worth of laundry with a flight the next morning. They were kind enough to have my laundry done the next day so I could make my flight, which is normally out of the question for them because of the high volume they handle. I was genuinely grateful they made it happen. I also want to add this: I have had some horrible experiences at other places where my clothing came back forever damaged, shrunk, stained, or treated like it did not matter. That did not happen here. Everything came back clean, folded, and handled with care, and it felt good coming back home to clothes that still looked like mine. On top of that, I was glad to support a local family business that clearly takes pride in their work. If you value good service and careful handling, in my humble opinion, Joy Cleaners is worth it. read more

Edit: According to the business owners, because I wrote a review, they are refusing to return $217 for the damages caused since my review would "harm" their business, even though they commented on Google an hour after posting acting all caring to want to mitigate the situation. I wrote my review in the first place because of their refusal to cooperate past making me sign waivers to handle my garment again in case they damage it further. Why would anyone do that? I let them know that reviews exist so other's can base their judgement whether or not they want to give their hard earned money to said business on real experiences, and if they didn't want the truth to be shared than maybe they should of treated this experience more delicately and seriously instead of acting sincere online then berating in person. Funny thing, when I went in to meet the owner (who wasn't there on agreed time) the front help suddenly was able to call her. I thought they didn't have her information to give to me to work this out when I originally asked? Wow. Don't believe their AI generated comment below, they were argumentative and still try to gaslight my experience thinking it's normal and okay to make holes and water damage in my garment, and threatened lawyers. Just admit your mistake and refund like any normal business would. Westwood is just down the road and gave me a deal since they felt bad for how my dress for my special day turned out. Go give them a visit. Original: I brought my vintage 1950s wedding dress here to be cleaned, hoping to wear it for my elopement. I even called ahead to make sure they had experience with vintage items, and if it could be done in a week--they said yes. I made it clear I'd rather wear something else than risk a rushed or careless job considering this was my first experience with a dry cleaner, and I would like it for Sunday. I understood if it would have not been enough time for a delicate dress, which is why I would have been okay if they said it wasn't possible--I had another option I went with anyway. Instead, they destroyed my dress. They put holes in the fabric, made the existing stains worse, added new black marks, and left it covered in severe water damage and chemical residue that makes it reek. The once-delicate lace is now mismatched shades of yellow. When I called to express my devastation, I was told this kind of damage is "normal" for vintage wear and that my dress "still looks fine and is wearable". I was completely gaslit and treated like my concerns didn't matter. They even asked me to sign a waiver in case they damaged it further if I wanted them to try again--why would I trust them a second time after they already ruined it? Thankfully, I was recommended by a regular of mine to go to Westwood Dry Cleaners. They didn't even need me to explain what happened--they immediately pointed out everything Joy did wrong. They were horrified. They told me the damage was NOT normal and that I needed to fight for a refund. They also expressed that it is very possible to do delicate cleaning on material like my dress without making holes, that they are just trying to feed me that lie so they can get away with the damages they caused. Apparently the son and mom who work here has been here for a year or less after owner change, and this isn't the first people have come in with issues from Joy. Trying to get a refund has been a nightmare. I was told I had to speak to the owner, but no one would give me her info--not even a phone number. When she finally called, she insisted I bring the dress back AGAIN. I already gave them a chance and left my dress for a week for inspection, hence the waiver. I trusted them once, and it cost me $217 and an irreplaceable dress. Please--do not take anything sentimental, vintage, or meaningful to this place. They are careless, untrained, and dismissive. What they did to my dress was heartbreaking, and they lack experience to handle your items with care. read more

I was so nervous to find a place to clean my wedding dress after my wedding day. I had a friend who had hers cleaned here and had a great experience so I decided to try it out. My dress had about 3 layers with appliqués of pearls and sequins here and there, the top one being lace and the bottom was very dirty. They were very responsive, asked me when I needed it cleaned by, and gave me the cost up front (around $260), and it took about 4 months. Which was fine with me - busy wedding season for cleaning dresses which I understood. My dress was ready a few days earlier than requested, went to pick it up and it looked absolutely stunning - the exact same as the day I purchased it. The dress was black on the bottom, had spray tan perspiration stains, a missing button and multiple snags on the crepe material. I typically shop around for the perfect dry cleaners. In this situation I was in town for business and needed two suits and six shirts quickly dry cleaned so my research was solely based on a referral. Joy knocked it out of the park. Shirts where done to my standard and they even included the plastic collar support on each shirt. I usually have to ask for this add on and considering this was one time stop I didn't even bother to ask. Regarding attention to detail, I had a really small defect on sleeve prior to dropping off. The female owner spotted the defect and remembered to make me aware of it. The owners were extremely friendly, customer service focused and executed with results. I've been coming to this shop for 2 years and have been happy every visit. These folks go above and beyond to ensure top quality. The one time I ever had a concern (a sweater that had the faintest off smell) I brought it back and asked if they'd touch it up and it was perfect. Never a single issue otherwise. I usually am dry cleaning clothes and sometimes blankets and coats. They also do great work with clothing repairs and wedding dress preservation. I moved and now drive across town to use them. Horrible experience. Dropped a new coat off on a Saturday to replace double zipper with a single zipper. Stopped by Friday after work to check on it and they told me they're too busy, they'll have it ready next Saturday. Then they call me the next day and tell me it's ready and apologize. Then I go to pick it up and they've replaced my original double zipper, with another double zipper, also difficult to work for me. Now I can't return the coat because it's been altered. I recently took some clothes in and saw my receipt as cheap as ever so didn't think about looking it over. They called me an hour later saying they had quoted me the price for an extra shirt and were very sorry for that but wanted me to know my bill would be less than that. Took a suit here and they returned with 2 large holes in the back. Then tried to tell me they were from moths. Suit was only 2 weeks old.

My daughter had to have her wedding dress cleaned after her destination wedding on a resort in Mexico for her reception at home. The bottom of the dress was very soiled and we had our doubts that it could be restored back to it's original condition. The train had a string of buttons that ran down the back and we made sure to point out to the cleaners that it the string broke or was snagged, it would ruin the button effect. Joy Cleaners did an absolutely wonderful job on her dress. It looks as good as new and their prices are in line with all the other dry cleaners cleaning estimates for wedding dresses. We will be returning to them with her dress again after the 2nd reception because of the great job and service they provided. They also did some of the bridesmaids dresses and very reasonable rates, and they look superb. We couldn't be more pleased! read more

Disappointed! I have been happy for a few years here, but today I called for a price on a 120 inch round polyester tablecloth, no stains but wrinkled. I heard the man ask others for a price and was quoted $10. I even tried to talk him down since I only paid $15 for it. I sent my husband there a few hours later and he said $18.46. Oh no! I love Joy Cleaners. I bought a sample wedding dress from a bridal boutique in Chicago and I needed it cleaned before my wedding. I was very nervous about where to bring it since no one in the Milwaukee area had a lot of reviews related to wedding dress cleaning. Based on one wedding blog where this cleaner was mentioned and a couple of good Yelp reviews, I decided to just try it. The owners were very friendly and made me feel very comfortable about their services. They reassured me they do about a wedding dress a week. The dress had minor dirt around the bottom train and hem. It also had about an inch line of what appeared to be red pen or lipstick. Two weeks later my dress came back perfectly cleaned and stains gone! Even the crystals were shining brighter than before. There was a gem that was loose that she fixed for free. I really feel they take pride in their service and care for your belongings. To top it all off they were very affordable.
