I have taken my slacks to be shortened and "slenderized" and I have taken two suits of Shantung silk to them. They shortened the hems on the skirt and dress, shaped the dress to more closely fit my measurements, and shortened the sleeves on both the jacket and the coat. They also explained why one modification I requested would create negative "unintended consequences". After they explained their thinking, I could understand why the modification would have been a bad idea. I recommended them to my brother, who had several pairs of dress pants taken in. They even repaired a tear in a pair of jeans. The repair was so perfectly done that I thought he had purchased a new pair --- I was unable to see where the repair was accomplished. These people know their craft. I even left their business card with my cobbler (another endangered craft with the proliferation of athletic shoes). I had Covid, and that's why I wanted everything cleaned. I was disgusted when I saw what my coat now looks like. The dye has been washed out leaving light patches all over, and the seams are torn apart in many areas. I showed my coworker my coat and she thought they gave me back someone else's coat-it looks so terrible. I took my coat back and the owner repeatedly told me that my coat was "shiny" when I brought it in, so they had to "soak it in chemicals and scrub". When I told her that they should have called me before scrubbing the coat so hard that it left holes, she said that they didn't scrub that hard. She refused to take any responsibility, and gave me the excuse that "Nothing like this has ever happened in 20 years." Taking this to small claims
