So I was in town on a work trip and I spilled bbq sauce all over my super white shirt. I was staying at the Hilton Downtown hotel and they didn't have any type of laundry service available after 9am. So I started to call around to cleaners to see if they had same day service. I wasn't expecting any one to say yes but one of cleaners told me to contact London Cleaners. I called and asked if they could fit me in to get my shirt cleaned and the guy agrees if I bring it in right away. I brought it in at 11:30am and they had it done by 2pm. This place was a lifesaver for me. The shirt looked amazing they truly are miracle workers with shirts. I would definitely take my cloths here if I lived locally. read more

I had a pretty bad stain on a king xl comforter a month back and had brought both the comforter and a small rug in for a dry clean. The owner and person working the front was very understanding and confirmed they will do their best to clean the items. The rug was available for pickup the same day as drop off, and the comforter was available the following day. Both items were returned to me in almost-new condition. For the price I paid I would say that they did an amazing job and will definitely be coming back in the future if needed! read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this business. I have had my suits, pants and shirts cleaned and pressed several times with nothing but satisfaction at the clean presses and pristine quality. I can now happily say that I have added their shoe repair services to my list. I had worn through the leather soles of a pair of midrange Johnston and Murphy dress shoes, and with a bit of doubt that they had any chance of salvation I turned them over to the London Cleaners. I wish I had taken a before picture - think a literal hole in the bottom of the soles, heels worn down, and discolored and scuffed leather. Pretty bad shape. After about a month and a half of waiting (and honestly wondering if they had just been thrown out) I was finally able to pick my shoes up. It would be an understatement to say that I was amazed. They were unrecognizable! Polished to perfection and refurbished with craftsmanship that surpasses their original as-purchased condition, these shoes will now last for several years past their expiration date. You can imagine my delight after having loved these shoes to death's doorstep and being unable to find a replacement to my liking. That isn't to say that the service is cheap. These shoes were nowhere as expensive as a much better built pair of Allen Edmonds, so the repair cost totaled just about the price of a new pair of shoes. Factoring in the actual improvement of workmanship and the simple inherent value of a cherished pair being given new life does make it worth it. This place is so endearing and delivers quality cleaning. With each visit, the interior is over-flowing with cleaned and to-be-cleaned clothing. I wonder how they keep up with it all! Jimmy is very nice and considerate, suggesting to park in the loading zone to avoid toting clothing a long distance. I do not recommend this establishment for any dry cleaning or tailor needs. I recently moved to Milwaukee and opted to use London cleaners because of their great reviews. It was incredibly expensive and no prices are listed on a website or in person. For reference, I paid nearly $200 to have 5 shirts, 5 sweaters, 1 pair of pants and 2 pants w small holes repaired. One of the pairs of pants wasn't even repaired (see photos)! One of the shirts had a collar that came back wrinkled/creased/bent so I brought it back again to be pressed. After the second pressing it was still wrinkled (see photos - it was all over the top and underside of the collar), so I brought it back again to be fixed. They insisted it was the fault of the shirt (not sure why they continued to return it to me when they could also see it was imperfect), which was in perfect condition when I brought it to them. They did not offer to re-wash the shirt or replace it. Instead they insisted that there was nothing they could do and that it was not their responsibility. The woman I spoke with was so rude and forceful that I opted to leave with the ruined shirt and not return for a 4th time for a resolution. read more

When I started with London, I was new to the frequent dry cleaning and alterations thing. Jimmy may be abrupt on the phone, but he gathers exactly the necessary information for whatever is needed. When you arrive, everything runs smoother than silk and he could not possibly be nicer in person. Their work is prompt - on your schedule, not theirs - and extremely well priced. Every shirt is pressed perfectly, every suit looking brand new. Kathy unfortunately passed away recently, which I just found out about. She was a good soul and forever helpful about any and all questions I have. Her alterations were custom per the article you brought in; this of course, will be missed but London has this mentality for everything they do: hats, shoes, cleanings and customer care. I personally have never had so much as mistake on anything I've had done, but I know if that were to ever happen, they would be on my side, helping remedy whatever it may be. London treats you like family, probably because they have grown up alongside Milwaukee. They are experts in every part of their field, and while Kathy's passing certainly leaves a hole - as expected from someone as kind and generous as she was - I have all the faith that Jimmy and the crew there will keep the place running to the standards she exhibited her whole life. I had my wedding dress pressed here and the service was phenomenal. They put up with me changing my mind at the last minute and thus dropping the dress off at 6:20 on a Thursday evening (I called at 6:01 to ask if they were still open and the guy said they closed at 6 but he would wait), to have it ready for Saturday (we actually picked it up Friday afternoon). The owners, a husband and wife team from Greece, did a fantastic job with my dress -- they got creases out that had refused to yield to our steamer AND our iron in the hotel room. And when we picked it up, the owner mentioned that she had found a spot on the hem that was missed and left unfinished in the alterations, and she took care of it for me at no extra charge. How often can you say a trip to the cleaners' is fun? I'd come back here just to let my Greek grandparents take care of me some more. read more

I use London Dry Cleaners all the time. The little gent that owns the place always gives me a little pinch on the old cheek like I'm his granddaughter, and that kind of service (along with the fact that they do a good job) keeps me coming back again and again. I've had my shoes repaired here before and was never charged anything ridiculous. I have had them clean my comforter, coats, dresses and work clothes. Everything is well done. And the fact that they have reserved the street in front of their shop for ease of clothing transport makes the process so much easier. But - I would recommend not coming here in the winter. Sounds weird, right? A few weeks ago we brought our dry cleaning home and it all smelled like musty smoke. Of course being the perpetual optimist I hoped that it was a fluke and it would be ok the next time around, but it smelled again. I'm assuming it's because the doors are closed in the winter, because I've never had problems during the rest of the year. read more

They've been in business for over 100 years for reason. They do a phenomenal job on anything from socks to mink coats. The couple that runs the store is so engaging, so knowledgeable, and so helpful. There really isn't anything they can't do for you. I just walked in with a pair of pants that needed to be tailored, and they measured me and made the change right there. I couldn't be more satisfied. They may cost a little more, but it is definitely worth it. read more

Took several hats ,fine fedoras ,here to have work done on them such as cleaning and adding new sweatbands as well as having new ribbons put on. Nearly all the work was terribly done and prices were made up as they went. Ruined my favorite Borsalino as they totally removed the dye from the hat and I didn't get it back for 3 months!!! Not to mention they put in a sweatband that was cheesy cheap and scratched my forehead when I tried to wear it. I've been using London Cleaners for almost a year now, and I'm a fan. I have exclusively used it for dry-cleaning of slacks, dress shirts, a tie every so often, and suits, so cannot comment on their shoe repair or alteration capabilities. However, when it comes to dry-cleaning they do a very good job. The clothes are ready when promised, and stains come out. Most notably, they do a great job pressing the clothes. Too many dry-cleaners either give you clothes with a few wrinkles or press clothes sloppily (really? there's a diagonal crease down my slacks?). London Cleaners does it right. This place is a bit on the more expensive side, and there have been a few times when they missed a stain. In every case they took care of it, and usually comp the item, which is great. However, it would be even better if the stains weren't missed in the first place. My biggest complaint is that they use pins, instead of tape, to mark the location of stains. This is bad practice. Unnecessarily pinning a garment should not happen. No one wants holes from safety pins in their nice clothes. Additionally, the elderly gentleman who runs the store is very good, and I like him a lot (he even takes the time to remember your name). However, he can be a bit curmudgeonly sometimes, so may not be for everyone. All in all, this is a very good choice for your dry cleaning needs. Just get rid of those silly pins... read more

Great place for shoe repair - I won't go anywhere else as long as they're in business. I've had many pairs of shoes repaired here, from heels on pumps to heels on riding boots. I had new buckles sewn onto a pair of ankle-strap pumps. One time I brought in a jacket with a broken zipper and the proprietor fixed it right away with no cost (no new parts needed, just an adjustment). If you buy $20 shoes, don't bother getting them repaired, but if you have nice quality shoes or coats that are otherwise in good condition, it is so nice to extend their lives and look great. The prices are reasonable and service is fast. He'll call you when your item is ready (usually in under one week). I would call the owner direct and to-the-point, but never rude. He will ask what you want done with the item to make sure you are on the same page. read more

I took my wedding dress here to get dry cleaned for two reasons - years in service and overall reviews, which is why my experience with them was completely unexpected. Things were fine until it came time to pay for my dress. According to their website, my cleaned dress should have cost $125 plus tax (see screenshots of website uploaded with this review), but they wanted to charge me $175 plus tax. After sharing that I was confused about the price, I proceeded to pull up their website on my phone to show him their publicly advertised prices, though he wouldn't look at it. He then offered a discount, bringing the total to $166. Nowhere on their website did it say "prices starting at..." or "prices valid during...", or something along those lines - a dry cleaned wedding dress is $125 plus tax, plain and simple. Had they needed to do extra work on my dress, I would understand paying more than advertised, but that was not the case. I thought they seemed like a trustworthy company and didn't think twice when they didn't write on my ticket (picture uploaded with this review) the price so $125 is all I had ever thought because that is what is advertised. After getting nowhere with him, he said someone would call us about it. So I left and got a phone call from another guy that works there. Things were cordial for the first 30 seconds and then took a turn for the worse after sharing that I was confused by their pricing. What followed was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have never been talked to the way I was during those ten minutes (and I have been in a customer service field for the last 6 years). The following are things he said to me: the website is 10 years old, the website is always under construction, our prices change every day, and no one goes to a website to look at prices - all of which are obviously false. At one point he repeatedly said "that's a threat" while I was trying to talk. He constantly interrupted me and spoke over me - it was impossible to have an adult conversation. He refused to listen to anything I tried to say so I just gave up. In the end, I didn't care about the $50 difference (he even commented on the phone this conversation was worthless over $30, which I didn't know why he said this amount until later - see PS at end of review), but what is unacceptable is how they treat customers and their dishonesty. He couldn't even muster anything sort of "I'm apologize about the confusion, but our prices are...". I can't image how they would address an actual problem. Why should you trust them with your dress, especially considering the numerous options in the Milwaukee area? Save yourself the hassle by taking your business elsewhere. PS - how does the story end? My husband went in the next morning to retrieve and pay for my dress. They gave him the same lines that they gave me, but this time it was all recorded with his phone. Finally, when my husband said he would open up a credit card dispute they quickly asked what we wanted to pay, to which we said again... $125 plus tax. Two interesting things from this - after tax was included it brought the total to $133, which is the $30 difference (from the discounted final price of $166) he was referring to that didn't make sense to me initially because it was originally at $50 difference. Also, with how quickly he honored the real price after we said we'd open a credit card dispute. If he knew they were right he wouldn't have cared if we opened a credit card dispute. These two things help to show how they have pulled this before and knew they got caught. And, they have since updated their website to state that it now costs $175 and added verbiage about changes in price. Hopefully my encounter will help save future customers from this same experience. read more

I'm new to Milwaukee and am in the market for a new dry cleaner and tailor. London Cleaners got good reviews and was conveniently located, so I decided to give them a shot. I dropped off a hand full of items, including a shirt that had some stains on it. The old man at the desk assured me that the stains would come out no problem. Lo and behold, when I came back to pick them up, the shirt was still stained. When I pointed this out to to the old man, he took offense and told me he can't guarantee that the stains will come out. He began to redeem himself however, when he sent the shirt to the back of the shop to get cleaned again. But then he asked me to pay for all of the items, including the shirt. I asked if I could wait for the shirt until I came back to pick it up again to make sure the stains were out, and all hell broke loose. I have never been yelled like that as a customer before, and it was entirely out of the blue. Next thing I knew he had grabbed the shirt from the back and thrown it back at me. So while l didn't end up paying for the shirt after all, the stains also never came out as promised. Needless to say, I am still in the market for a new cleaner and tailor if anyone has any good recommendations. read more

Avoid this place. First, the old guy has a bad attitude. He gave my girlfriend a hard time because she asked that my shirts be on hangers with the sleeves cross-folded and clipped. The management at London Cleaners is a crook. I dropped two pairs of shoes to get heels put on after the long winter. I made the mistake of not asking the price. I thought the sales person was a nice old man. When I picked up the shoes I learned the grand total...over $75.00. For that price I could have bought two new pairs of shoes. Service was well done, reasonably priced, prompt, and courteous. When I went in to pick up my repaired platform sandals, I fumbled with my keys and was in the process of taking an aspirin from my purse. The older gentleman who runs the shop disappeared for a second and returned with a glass of water for me. He is a very thoughtful and kind gentleman and I am very shocked to read one of the other reviews to the contrary! (You get more bees with honey than you do with vinegar...) DO NOT GO HERE! Very unhappy with the service at London Cleaners. I took my purse there to be cleaned since it had a few stains on it and dye had transferred from my jeans to the purse. When I brought it in, a young man working there told me I would get it back looking like new. Long story short, it did not look like new--the stain was still there and blue dye from my jeans still remained. Even worse, part of the leather trim was starting to peel. London Cleaners outsources their purse cleaning service so the elderly man who owns the place told me he already paid for the service so I needed to pay him. It was originally $50 to clean which he took down to $40, but I was still unwilling to pay $40 for a purse that looked the same, if not worse than when I brought it there. I ended up paying $30, but am very disappointed that the elderly man doesn't know how to run a business. As a business owner, you are supposed to make your customers satisfied and if that means taking a hit to your business once in a while, that is what you need to do. read more
