I took my wedding dress to them and it came back with a new stain that was not previously there. Right on the front too. The owner was really rude and defensive about it and refused to decrease the price or reclean it. The biggest waste of $195 I've ever spent. Do not take valuable items here! Update: I pulled the dress out on my wedding day to find out they ripped several areas of lace and one of the cups & pinned them down without telling me. Do not trust them with anything of value!! They destroyed my $1300 Canada goose coat. I paid $170 to get 2 coats and a duvet cover dry cleaned. My coat looked almost new when I brought it in. I had Covid, and that's why I wanted everything cleaned. I was disgusted when I got my coat back. The dye had been washed out leaving light patches all over, and the seams are torn apart in many areas. I showed my coworker my coat and she thought they gave me back someone else's coat-it looked so terrible. I took my coat back and the owner repeatedly told me that my coat was "shiny" when I brought it in, so they had to "soak it in chemicals and scrub". When I told her that they should have called me before scrubbing the coat so hard that it left holes, she said that they didn't scrub that hard. And soaking a $1300 coat in chemicals?! Unbelievable. She refused to take any responsibility, and gave me the excuse that "Nothing like this has ever happened in 20 years." When I told her that it's a $1300 coat, she looked shocked and laughed at me. After more than a few phone calls and her giving me the runaround I just took the loss. I should have taken them to small claims court. read more

I told the owner that this was not very good and she said this is the best they can do. If that's the best that they can do I will not be going back here. She did not offer to refund my money either. I've used capitol cleaners a few times without issue. A few months ago, my BF took a nice hooded sweatshirt to this establishment to have it cleaned and the under arm stains removed. After having him pay for the cleaning, they then gave him his garment which still showed yellow underarm stains on them. They told him they were unable to remove the stains. This is probably something you should mention before accepting the garment in the first place, that is, if you practice business ethics. Fast forward several months. I drop off one of my favorite designer style fitted dresses at this place for a routine cleaning. I repeat, a routine cleaning- the type of cleaning you need done not because it has stains on it but you wore it once or twice and it needs to be freshened up. I specifically asked the guy behind the counter if the inside of clothing is cleaned because my main concern was removing sweat as it had no other issues and the outside had no stains or issues to speak of. He told me that clothing is washed much like regular garments in a washing machine except instead of water, chemicals are used. I was happy with that and turned over my dress. When I went to pick up the dress, I (like my bf) was charged first prior to even seeing my dress. Upon my dress coming off the rack, the man pointed out they were unable to remove a stain on the front. ....A stain??? What stain? There wasn't a stain on it when I handed it over. It had been a few weeks since I had dropped off the dress and there were other people in the shop I didn't want to make a scene, but the stain was quite large and I would have remembered something like that. Brooding inside, I took my dress from the cleaners and then took it directly to the tailors a few blocks up the road. I asked the tailor what he thought about the "stain". After examining it, he said it was no stain, it was fabric damage. He said he would try something on it and took my dress off into his back area but came back a 5 minutes later saying it didn't work and that the dress was essentially ruined because the fabric itself is damaged. The way the dress is designed, you can't really fix it. I was absolutely LIVID. I called the cleaners and the same man answered. I told him that I didn't have a stain on the dress when I dropped it off and the tailor just said the fabric was damaged. I told him I wanted to speak to someone about it. He told me to drop the dress off and the owner, Mrs. Han, would call me when she got in. Well, several days passed and I received no communication. I called the cleaners back again and said that no one had followed up with me. The worker said he hadn't heard anything but will mention this to Mrs. Han that day. I told him that to be clear, I wanted to hear back from someone today. I heard back from no one. The next day I went in and spoke with the owner, Mrs. Han directly. I introduced myself as the person who returned the damaged dress. Just as I assumed, she denied knowing anything about damage and said the "stain" was there when she received the dress. I should note that one lady working behind the counter looked at me in absolute horror, like she knew exactly which dress I was talking about. Mrs. Han proceeded to tell me the procedure is that she when she finds a garment that is stained and can't be removed, they call the client to pick up the garment and don't clean it. I then told her I was very confused because no one ever called me and I paid $15 when I picked up my dress... Of course she behaved as though this was a surprise (though they had charged my bf after failing to remove stains from his sweatshirt months ago). Though I was angry and disappointed in their lack of ethics, I knew I wouldn't get anywhere because their goal was to avoid taking responsibility by any means possible. So Mrs. Han refunded my $15 dollars and I took my destroyed dress and left, very unhappily but without further incident. This place is ok if you are lucky enough to never have a problem, but don't expect them to do the right thing when they ruin your clothes. read more

Last week I made one of those huge stupid mistakes that makes you start thinking deep existential thoughts like "why did I ever leave my mother's house?". My mistake was deciding to practice my calligraphy while sitting on my sofa. About 30 seconds in to gathering my supplies (all the while thinking to myself "ya know, I probably shouldn't be doing this on the couch, I should probably move over to the table...nah I'll be fine") I managed to spill a jar of black calligraphy ink on my sofa cushions. I am not one to swear often, but in that moment, that moment of knowing I just goofed, like, big time goofed, I was dropping bombs. I frantically grabbed the cushion that had the most ink, and started freaking out trying to figure out what to do. I started googling how to get Ink stains out of fabric. After about twenty minutes of me trying google's advice I realized I was in over my head. So I started researching local dry cleaners and found Capitol. I'm so glad that I did! They were extremely nice, totally humored my mistake and made sure to explain how things would go and what I could expect; the stain probably wasn't going to totally come out (which I pretty much assumed, it was black calligraphy ink, there's no coming back from that) and there could be some fading around the stain. And let me tell you, I was extremely impressed when I picked the cushion covers. I almost missed the stain when I went looking for it! I don't see any fading, you can tell where it was, but it took me a couple once overs to find it, which says a lot, especially when you see where it started! I definitely recommend Capitol Cleaner! TL;DR: spilled calligraphy ink on my sofa cushions, took them to Capitol and they did a great job! read more

one of my husband's shirts was ripped at this cleaners. I have been coming here for over 15 years. I brought the shirt back and explained that when he took out the shirt to wear it, the pocket had a tear in it. both of the people working ( one was the owner ) completely questioned me and basically told me that I was not being honest. they said that because the shirt had been cleaned several months ago, they couldn't trust that they were the ones that did this. never once did they apologize for ruining a very nice work shirt. I explained that I have never once in 15 years returned anything or complained and that I had nothing to gain here except hopefully getting some sort of credit or compensation for the shirt. instead they made me feel guilty and blamed me for this. just terrible customer service and I will never, never be back. read more

I had an odd experience here the other week. I spoke with the folks at the counter about having their in-house seamstress put a few snaps on a pair of bedroom curtains in order to keep the morning sunlight out from between the seams. They said, "Sure, bring the curtains in tomorrow, when she is in working." Took them off and brought them in. When I explained what I was after, their tailor replied, "That's too much work. Sorry. Super negative. I was using Capital Cleaners for a while with no problems. About 3 to 4 month ago I brough winter coat for cleaning whis has the fur trim on it. I was explained that fur trims are cleaned separately and that was a pont when the winter coat saga started. Owner informed me that people who do fur cleaning are selebrating Memorial day for about a week, that they are busy, no it is going to arrive next week etc. Eventually it was summer time and I did not care for winter coat much and it finally reached the destination. I gave them one (1!!!) pair of pants for alterations. The owner is on vacation and there is no way to find my brand new pants. Seems that that people do not need the buisness because somebody is constantly on vacation and they do not give a monkey about their customers. I wish it would be a negative star! Do not go there if you need to get any stains removed!!! This is truly not the place!! I went in with probably 9 items. I explained that many of the items had red wine stains, food stains, or ink stains. I asked the gentleman working behind the counter if he'd be able to get them out. He replied "that's what we're here for!" I was immediately excited to hear his response. When returning to get my items a few days later, all of the items seemed pressed and ready to wear. I noticed that a few were also sharing the same garment bag which I thought was weird but didn't think anything of it. So I paid my $65 and exited the establishment. Once getting outside I noticed that the red wine rains were all still there. So I walked back inside and they apologized and said they'd redo it. After getting home and unpacking the rest of the dry cleaning I noticed that the items that had been doubled up in the garment bags also had stains remaining..... After picking up the item today, the stains were still there..... Let's just say I will NEVER be going back. I will be driving 20-30mins to go back to our old dry cleaner in Tosa which were excellent and removing stains!! I've been willing to give this place a shot multiple times because it's really close to my house but I'm done with them. Every other time you pick up your clothes, you'll find clear spots/circles randomly on your garments. So I end up taking them to a different cleaner elsewhere or I have to clean them at home to remove the spots. I've been willing to ignore that and I generally just bring in darker shirts/pants that they can't screw up and then I bring the rest of my important clothing to an actual good dry-cleaner that knows what they're doing. However, when I recently picked up a pair of pants for a $7 bill the clerk says that, "We're a small business and we need a $10 minimum for credit cards." So last week I spent $20-30 on my dry-cleaning here but all of a sudden this week my business isn't worth the $0.14 it costs you to run my card? I'm all for small business, but not when it gives poor results and poor customer service. You just lost a customer over $0.14 - I hope you close your "small business" doors and then maybe a good "big business" dry-cleaner can move in. read more

Amazing Dry Cleaners - I had a very expensive Canali Sportscoat which had hair spray spill on it while in some luggage. I took the coat to two other Dry Cleaners with no success - I thought the garment was ruined. Capitol took great care and got the coat back to almost new. I am now a lifelong customer! Brought a sweater into Capitol Cleaners and pointed out a couple small stains on the front of the sweater. Paid for the sweater, brought it home and about an hour later thought I would take a look to see if the stains came out. The original stains were gone and replaced with huge black stains all over the front. I went right back, showed it to the guy who then showed it one of the cleaners who was on his way out the door. All they said was that they would redo it. No apology, no explanation, no offer of a refund. Picked it up a second time and the stains are gone. Still no apology for my time coming back and forth. I went to Queens Way cleaners for 20 years and they would never have returned my sweater to me in that condition. He gave me some lame explanation about how it happened. Once again in all the years I've used a drycleaner I've never heard such a ridiculous excuse. Customer service is horrible. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

A long term client of mine highly recommended Capitol Cleaners so I brought two dresses in for cleaning. When I dropped them off, I pointed out a small tear in the zipper area of one of the dresses and requested that it be fixed. ( I also indicated that I was willing to pay for the repair in addition to the cleaning fee) When I picked up the dresses, the tear had not been fixed and the second dress was damaged beyond repair, it being a two tone, black and white dress where the black had bled into the white area. When I expressed my horror, the owner of the shop shrugged her shoulders and told me it was a manufacturing problem. I've had the dress cleaned before at other cleaners and the dress had never bled. She refused to admit fault and wouldn't refund my money for the cleaning. I paid $17.50 per dress-one is ruined and the other one is clean and nicely pressed but the repair was not done and was apparently forgotten about. Needless to say, I will not return and wouldn't recommend the place to anybody. read more
