I transferred locations because I wasn't happy at the Golden Valley location. I have been impressed every time I come for my appointments here. Normally I see Victoria who has been awesome. I arrived tonight and checked-in, completed my appointment with Sarah (because I had to do a reschedule so not my normal day/person). She was spectacular! Quick and always checking on how I was doing. To my surprise a few hours after my appointment had wrapped up I noticed a voicemail on my phone. It was them trying to reschedule because my tech had left sick for the day. I showed up to my appointment completely ignorant to this fact and no one even blinked an eye. Need to update..I wasn't aware until recently that they changed their no tipping policy! still do a great job, but factor in tip into their pricing now. Bummed that went away, wish there was more of a heads up besides all of a sudden the tip line showing up on your receipt to sign. Drove by here a few months back when they first opened and decided to try it out. Your first time here is 50% of your services and get this no tipping policy! They do basically every kind of waxing you can think of face, leg, arm, bikini, the list goes on along with services specific to men too Cat is my cerologist and I love her! Meh. I don't think I'll be back. The Pros: It was easy to set up an appointment over the phone, and all the staff I interacted with were nice. The results were decent... And your first service there is 50% off. The Cons: The 50% off deal doesn't apply to combos (so if you get the full leg and bikini combo, they will treat it as two services). 50% off brought the price down to what I would call a reasonable price after adding the tip. If I had to pay twice as much, it would have been a massive rip-off for what I received. The tip is also no longer included in the price, as it used to be. I got a full leg wax, and it went pretty smoothly, although it did leave a lot of irritation (some people are more prone to irritation than others, of course). But when I looked at it later, I found that the lady had missed 4 patches of hair. :/ Overall, it was an okay experience, but the next time I need a wax I will be checking Yelp for a small business that might do a better job for the price. read more

The worst! I had an appointment and received an email explaining to stay in my car and the technician would text me when i could come in due to Covid. After waiting out front for ten minutes and calling the salon line with no answer I went to the front door. I was met by a very rude person telling me I was 10 minutes late and i couldn't get the service. I explained I've been sitting out front like the text your salon instructed me to do but she said that it didn't matter I missed my time slot. No apology no let's see what we can do. I've been going to Waxing the City to get my eyebrows waxed for the past few years and would definitely have to categorize them as 'A-OK'. The good: The wax: They use a different wax than the wax that is typically used in salons. They don't have to put paper on it - instead it hardens and they just pull it off. As a result they are able to do less pulls and it hurts less than getting my eyebrows waxed normally does. The technicians: All the technicians I've had have been super knowledgeable and I have never had them make any mistakes - definitely a step up from some salons I have been too. The bad: PRICE - getting my eyebrows waxed here will cost me double if not more than going to other salons. When I started to go here, the price included tip and now that's not the case anymore, uping the cost even more. Today, an eyebrow wax will set you back $21 - before tip. The summary: I keep coming back here and will continue to do so. Even though the price is higher - the skilled technicians and type of wax they use continue to get me to return. If you're willing to pay a little more, definitely check them out! read more

Previous experiences at high end salons left me shaking with pain and ready to jump off the table and run for the nearest exit. Not so today. I just received a call 1 hour before my very first appointment to reschedule my wax, due to the technician calling in sick. I was already near maple grove after driving an hour as I do not live near the area, and the unprofessional, ditzy girl that called offered "to like, reschedule my appointment later this week." I had to ask if there was anything available later today, but not for 4 hours later. I work in an office where this sometimes happens, so I understand that it does. I have been a long time customer with Waxing the City. I needed to get my eyebrows waxed before leaving on vacation and the women I usually see was already completely booked. I ended up booking an appointment with Kristina at the Maple Grove location. For the past few years I have been working on making my eyebrows thicker. I explained this to Kristina, I explained exactly what I wanted. She was extremely dismissive and said she understood and knows what she is doing. Kristina completely thinned out my eyebrows. I was more sad then upset. I had worked so hard to get them exactly how I wanted them and just needed them cleaned up, not completely thinned out and reshaped. Kristina excuse was "they look good, this is what they are suppose to look like." She did exactly what I asked her not to do, she did not listen to me (the paying customer) and she did what she wanted. So disappointed. read more

I was a regular patron and felt they did a nice job and the staff was friendly. However they decided to change their no tip policy without any notice or heads up. I felt totally put on the spot when I went to pay. It goes against everything that they preached to me about why they don't accept tips. I have no problem tipping for service, but communication is key. I will now go to my salon where it will be cheaper with tip and I will be in a more relaxing environment. read more

She then informed me I'd be receiving modified services. I would have appreciated that information when I called. The person was rude when I told her that. I had a great experience last week at Waxing the City. I was greeted warmly by the receptionist and got in right away for a walk-in eyebrow wax with Vera. Vera made the experience comfortable and quick and my brows have never looked better.
