It is really hard to find black aestheticians in Minnesota and this location fired the only black woman there! Highly disappointed and also ticked off because calling them during business hours is a bust! I've called several times to cancel my membership and they don't even answer the phone. I do not recommend this place at all, women of color - find somewhere else to go because this place ain't it! read more

Brooklyn is amazing! I have been to many different waxing salons and she is by far the best. She does the best job and is so welcoming. I won't see anyone else! Scheduling is also super easy. read more

Need to update..I wasn't aware until recently that they changed their no tipping policy! still do a great job, but factor in tip into their pricing now. Bummed that went away, wish there was more of a heads up besides all of a sudden the tip line showing up on your receipt to sign. Drove by here a few months back when they first opened and decided to try it out. Your first time here is 50% of your services and get this no tipping policy! They do basically every kind of waxing you can think of face, leg, arm, bikini, the list goes on along with services specific to men too Cat is my cerologist and I love her! She makes you feel at ease and takes her time to make sure you are satisfied. Recommend this location. Many friends go to the refinery in dinkytown which is a bit far when you are lazy and Waxing The City is right in Maple Grove and a quick trip for me read more

I transferred locations because I wasn't happy at the Golden Valley location. I have been impressed every time I come for my appointments here. Normally I see Victoria who has been awesome. I arrived tonight and checked-in, completed my appointment with Sarah (because I had to do a reschedule so not my normal day/person). She was spectacular! Quick and always checking on how I was doing. To my surprise a few hours after my appointment had wrapped up I noticed a voicemail on my phone. It was them trying to reschedule because my tech had left sick for the day. I showed up to my appointment completely ignorant to this fact and no one even blinked an eye. This location and the staff have all been wonderful. read more

I came in today for a brow tint with Devereaux, she absolutely slayed me! I connected with her immediately, and had such a fun conversation during the whole process. The way she did my brow tint was the best I've ever had done, she shaped it like an instagram baddie for real I will be going to her regularly from now on!! read more

Waxing The City - Waxing Near Me - Maple Grove, Minnesota

Meh. I don't think I'll be back. The Pros: It was easy to set up an appointment over the phone, and all the staff I interacted with were nice. The results were decent... And your first service there is 50% off. The Cons: The 50% off deal doesn't apply to combos (so if you get the full leg and bikini combo, they will treat it as two services). 50% off brought the price down to what I would call a reasonable price after adding the tip. If I had to pay twice as much, it would have been a massive rip-off for what I received. The tip is also no longer included in the price, as it used to be. I got a full leg wax, and it went pretty smoothly, although it did leave a lot of irritation (some people are more prone to irritation than others, of course). But when I looked at it later, I found that the lady had missed 4 patches of hair. :/ Overall, it was an okay experience, but the next time I need a wax I will be checking Yelp for a small business that might do a better job for the price. read more

My husband and I eloped last minute and I was in dire need of a wax so googled the nearest place and this popped up! They do a sweet special on 50% off your first service so that was a huge bonus! Tricia was able to squeeze me in and she nailed it! My eyebrows look great and she was such a sweetheart, I'll definitely be coming back again soon! read more

I am a hairstylist in Mpls and I refer all clients to waxing in the city as they specialize in exactly that.... waxing! They are quick, cost effective and to me experts! I see Mykenzie and will never see anyone else as she sculpted my brows better than anyone I have seen at other places in years. I have really hard eyebrows to shape as they are two straight caterpillars... she is amazing and recommend her highly! read more

The worst! I had an appointment and received an email explaining to stay in my car and the technician would text me when i could come in due to Covid. After waiting out front for ten minutes and calling the salon line with no answer I went to the front door. I was met by a very rude person telling me I was 10 minutes late and i couldn't get the service. I explained I've been sitting out front like the text your salon instructed me to do but she said that it didn't matter I missed my time slot. No apology no let's see what we can do. Doesn't sound like we're the first people to have a bad/rude experience. European Wax Center though... 10 stars!!! read more

I've been going to Waxing the City to get my eyebrows waxed for the past few years and would definitely have to categorize them as 'A-OK'. The good: The wax: They use a different wax than the wax that is typically used in salons. They don't have to put paper on it - instead it hardens and they just pull it off. As a result they are able to do less pulls and it hurts less than getting my eyebrows waxed normally does. The technicians: All the technicians I've had have been super knowledgeable and I have never had them make any mistakes - definitely a step up from some salons I have been too. The bad: PRICE - getting my eyebrows waxed here will cost me double if not more than going to other salons. When I started to go here, the price included tip and now that's not the case anymore, uping the cost even more. Today, an eyebrow wax will set you back $21 - before tip. The summary: I keep coming back here and will continue to do so. Even though the price is higher - the skilled technicians and type of wax they use continue to get me to return. If you're willing to pay a little more, definitely check them out! read more

I just had my first wax at wax the city, and I could not possibly have been more impressed. I have been getting Brazilian waxes for the past 12 years, but this was by far the least painful and all around pleasant. I saw Lola, and she was very skilled, professional, and so nice. Wax the city also offers 50% off your first service and they have a frequent buyer program if you get waxed regularly. I will definitely be going back! read more

I am very particular about who does my eyebrows and I have tried threading and waxing but, Kaileen at Waxing the City did an exceptional job! She taught me things about my eyebrow/facial symmetry without me feeling like I was getting an education session. I was very pleased with the friendliness and customer service from the very moment I walked through the door. I highly recommend their services!! read more

My experience today at Waxing the City, preparing for a Mexican vacation was the best waxing experience I have ever had. Previous experiences at high end salons left me shaking with pain and ready to jump off the table and run for the nearest exit. Not so today. Devereaux made me immediately comfortable to the point I will be considering regular maintenance. The key seems to be the formula and quality of the wax used and Devereaux's professional and kind service. I will no longer dread preparing for the sun! read more

I have been waxed elsewhere, and when I first when to Waxing the City, the experience was so much less painful that it made me swear off any other waxing studios! They always do a fantastic job and make me feel at ease! read more

book with brooklyn she is amazing!! she makes me feel so comfortable and she takes her time while she's waxing me. the last time i went i had to go to victoria because brooklyn wasn't available and it seemed like she was just rushing to get the job done. she didn't talk much and she missed big spots of hair that i didn't realize until i got home. read more

I had my first Brazilian and leg wax ever with waxing the city. Danyelle was absolutely amazing. I wasn't quite sure how my first time would go but I was surprisingly comfortable and she is such a sweetheart. Highly recommend to anyone. read more

The absolute worst place I have ever been. The front desk girl Brianna was the rudest person I've ever dealt with and will never come back because of her poor customer service. I over heard her talking bad about a customer that was just there. It is absolutely disgusting how they let those type of people work there. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

The receptionist lied to me and said she would bring my friend in the room who was also getting a wax but when my friend got there she told her it was illegal for her to come back. The girl that did both of our waxes did not get all the hair off. For me she left a huge patch in my middle section and my butt. I will not be returning. read more

I just received a call 1 hour before my very first appointment to reschedule my wax, due to the technician calling in sick. I was already near maple grove after driving an hour as I do not live near the area, and the unprofessional, ditzy girl that called offered "to like, reschedule my appointment later this week." I had to ask if there was anything available later today, but not for 4 hours later. I work in an office where this sometimes happens, so I understand that it does. Just so happens I'm not driving all the way back when I leave for florida in 2 days. read more

I've been spending my waxing dollars at Waxing the City for quite a while now. I definitely think that I am getting the best bang for my buck. Every wax I've had has been professional and well done. Recently, I've discovered the manager, Besse. And I don't foresee a future where I won't be making all of my appointments with her. Her attention to detail is unmatched and she makes you feel entirely comfortable. I've been very, very impressed and I will keep going back...every 4-6 weeks. ;) read more

I recently moved to Maple Grove and was in search of a new place to get my waxing done; decided to try Waxing the City a try and happy I did. Brazilians are never pleasant, but I can't say I hated this one. In fact, it was a great experience! The receptionist was lovely and Lola was wonderful! I'll be going back. read more

Cat is excellent- fast and super professional and makes sure you're comfortable. I highly recommend WTC! Love the online booking option.

Love this place I went a month ago to have some waxing done for my wedding. Ashley was the amazing lady I had. This place is fabulous such a wonderful nice staff and a very clean salon. Ashley did such a fabulous job. I would highly recommend coming here and seeing Ashley. And hey 50% off your first visit isn't such a bad deal. read more

I have been a long time customer with Waxing the City. I needed to get my eyebrows waxed before leaving on vacation and the women I usually see was already completely booked. I ended up booking an appointment with Kristina at the Maple Grove location. For the past few years I have been working on making my eyebrows thicker. I explained this to Kristina, I explained exactly what I wanted. She was extremely dismissive and said she understood and knows what she is doing. Kristina completely thinned out my eyebrows. I was more sad then upset. I had worked so hard to get them exactly how I wanted them and just needed them cleaned up, not completely thinned out and reshaped. Kristina excuse was "they look good, this is what they are suppose to look like." She did exactly what I asked her not to do, she did not listen to me (the paying customer) and she did what she wanted. So disappointed. read more

I was a regular patron and felt they did a nice job and the staff was friendly. However they decided to change their no tip policy without any notice or heads up. I felt totally put on the spot when I went to pay. It goes against everything that they preached to me about why they don't accept tips. I have no problem tipping for service, but communication is key. I will now go to my salon where it will be cheaper with tip and I will be in a more relaxing environment. read more

I called to let them know I would be 10 minutes late. She explained the 15 minute rescheduling policy. I arrived 10 minutes after my appointment like I said. She then informed me I'd be receiving modified services. I would have appreciated that information when I called. The person was rude when I told her that. There is nothing on the website stating any of this. I understand these policies, but let your customers know. read more

I just had my first wax ever and this place was awesome. I have a friend who was pestering me to try it out and so yesterday I decided too. The place is easy to find and super clean inside! I had Cat and I would totally recommend her! She made me feel comfortable the whole time. I will for sure being coming back! read more

I had a great experience last week at Waxing the City. I was greeted warmly by the receptionist and got in right away for a walk-in eyebrow wax with Vera. Vera made the experience comfortable and quick and my brows have never looked better. The only suggestion I would make is to play more spa-like music in the waxing rooms instead of the modern, upbeat to help create a more serene environment. read more
