Peluquería. The worst place I've ever been to in my life, I showed a picture to the lady called Layna what I wanted and she told me there was no problem. The result was horrendous. I wanted some highlights to blend with my white hair and it turned out she did yellow chonk highlights and I told her very clear that I didn't want yellow or orange, that what I wanted was gray, it was really a disaster. She said they would do it again but I was really scared to go again because my hair had already been bleached and I didn't want to ruin any more hair, it was definitely disastrous and at the end of everything we discussed Layna said I should go 2 or 3 times to achieve that but then I asked her why didn't she tell me before and I could decide whether to do it or not, and not only is that , they used my card from the first time I went there because when I left no one charged me and they used my card from my first visit without my consent and debited $180 Layna had told me $120 I feel totally scammed because I did not authorize that transaction and not only did she destroy my hair, but the worst is used my credit card without my authorization, and that's not fair. read more

When I purchased a gift pack there and tried to return it, they told me they wouldn't accept it back. It was their "policy". There was no rationale behind it, they just wouldn't take it back. Nobody said anything when I purchased it AS A GIFT and asked for a GIFT RECEIPT that it was an item that couldn't be returned. Now I'm stuck with a $100 gift package that I don't want. I feel like their employees were dishonest and were only concerned with taking my money rather than letting me know that a gift was non-returnable. If that's their policy, I guess we can go elsewhere for probably half the price and a more honest experience. read more

I wouldn't even give 1 star. I went in for a 15 min consult for hair straightening perm and was booked for an appointment . The day of the appointment when I reched the salon, I was asked to come back in an hr later because the hair stylist was behind her schedule. When I did go back again, they say the hair stylist wasn't aware that I scheduled for a perm and she didn't do that service ever. The staff here is so irresponsible. I was made to go in for a consult to schedule my appointment and also I had to take the day off for the perm since it takes long. A waste of my time.. I am not going back here again read more

I used Reflect back in July for a color that went horribly wrong by their stylist Ava. She was not my regular stylist but decided to give her a shot. After being disappointed by her results, I asked for a refund. Fast Forward to November, I tried booking an appointment with my regular stylist, Brie and was told that I am no longer allowed to book with Reflect. Please be aware that if you get your hair done at the Maple Grove location that you're not allowed to have a negative opinion after or else they won't take you back as a client. The 5 stars are for Crystal who was thorough with my color, carefully covering the grays around my temples and also coloring all my roots, not just the ones around my part. The shampoo and condition was like a mini vacation with a wonderful scalp massage. Finally, I was nervous to move away from Aveda color but Crystal walked me through the change and the color is so much better. My third month with the new brand and my brown hair no longer takes on an orange cast after a couple weeks. Big improvement. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. This place has horrible customer service. I had an appointment for a cut and color. I called 45 minutes before my appointment just to verify everything was set (I have been burned by a salon in the past) I was told "yep we have you all set at 12:15 with Mindy". I then drove half an hour in a snowstorm only to be turned away being told that the stylist I was scheduled with didn't show for work and they had been calling her all morning, but my appointment was cancelled. I can actually understand the stylist not showing isn't their fault but why then tell me when I called that I was "all set". After I had walked out of the salon my husband went in and was told "they had been trying to call me for days" how is this possible if the stylist just didn't show up for today. Why would they have been trying to call me for days. I did have a new cell number, but I had given that new number to the person I had set the appointment up with I guess she forgot to put that new number in just like they forgot to tell me when I called 45 minutes before my appointment that I no longer had one. I was looking for a new colorist that was closer to home and a little cheaper. I usually go to Juut Gavidae (love it there) but the cost of parking on top of the services can be expensive. Since I just get an all over color, I thought I might try to find something cheaper. I'll always be loyal to Juut for haircuts though! I decided to try New Reflections because it's close and I have enjoyed pedicures and massages at their Plymouth location. I went on a Friday and it was surprisingly quiet. During the color, all was good, the stylist was really friendly and things seemed to be going well. She did surprise me by telling me that all of their employees do ALL services, including nails. Huh. Not sure I like that. I must tell you that I have a LOT of hair and when I booked the appointment I told them so. They often want to book extra time for me. Things got sketchy when she started blow drying my hair. I was next to a window and I could see big patches of hair by my roots that seemed to have gone uncolored. Hmm. "Maybe it's just the lighting..." I thought. Turns out, no, it wasn't the lighting, she missed the roots on the left side of my head. Next, the stylist kept talking into her ear bud and she told me it was very distracting because the entire salon chatters into it non stop. I wondered how she was even keeping track of our conversation through all of that. When she was just about done with me, she spoke into her earbud and a woman appeared at my side with a clipboard. We yelled at each other over the hairdryer as she checked me out from my chair. Very weird. She handed me my purse so I could pay her while my hair was being blown all around my face. She returned with my receipt to sign and it was $190.00. WHAT?! What the hell did I just get done?! An all over color and a bottle of conditioner? $190? Turns out they charged me for the color, $30.00 for "extra time," $25 for "extra labor" and since they were out of the smaller bottle of conditioner I wanted they just gave me (and charged me for) the larger $75.00 bottle. Yes, I'm writing them a letter. I've never been charged extra because I have a lot of hair. I understand I require more product and time and I wouldn't be opposed to paying for it, as long as they give me the heads up when I book the appointment! I think I'll stick to my tried and true Juut Gavidae. :) read more

Very surprised at the poor reviews...I've been going to this New Reflections location for years and I've had nothing but amazing service. I can't speak for their color jobs because I don't color my hair, but as far as extensions and cuts they do an unbelievable job. Karolyn is a master at making extensions look natural; I have very fine, thin hair and I always leave the salon with a cut and extensions that make my hair look very thick and healthy. She's extremely patient and makes sure I have the exact style I'm looking for. I think all New Reflections locations have a get-what-you-pay-for atmosphere. Everyone is professional and polite. Love love LOVE my new hair! Had a great experience in the salon. Atmosphere: smells just like an Aveda salon should, warm welcome by the woman at the front desk and offered a beverage. Took my seat and my stylist was out within 3 minutes to get me, so no waiting which I like! I felt that the chairs were very close together, the stylist next to our station actually hit my arm a few times - why so cramped? Also, they use stainless steel tool boxes on wheels to store their things, like brushes, curling irons, etc. Really felt like a strange element to add to the salon. Cut: My stylist is still in training and was aided by 2 different 'trainers'. The cut took over 2 hours, but it was complicated (shoulder length hair to a long, a-symmetrical pixie) and I could sense the nerves from my stylist, so much so that I could feel her hands shaking as she help my hair. Nerves aside, I LOVE this haircut. I was pretty nervous myself, but am very happy. Both trainers could sense my un-ease at points and both made a point to talk to me, crack a joke, etc. It was great! Styling: I went in to get a fun, full of movement and body, spunky/edgy haircut. I left feeling like a soccer mom! It was over-worked and there was about 3 different kinds of hairspray in it, plus a bunch of other products. I was hoping to a piecey, broken up type style to showcase this cut, but alas that was up to me once I got home. I couldn't even change it because there was too much hairspray. Once it was shampooed and styled on my own it was much better! Overall, I would definitely go back to this salon and would recommend to friends and family that they do too! read more

I know that New Reflections has other locations. I have only been to the one in Maple Grove. I have had pedicures, hair cuts, eye brow waxes. I have always received great service. It is an Aveda salon. I have always enjoy Aveda products. I like the setup of the place. Especially the pedicure room. I like that i get to lay down on a comfy table when I get my eyebrows waxed. I recently had a Girls Night Out at New Reflections. We all enjoy it! The facial was wonderful I was so relaxed. I also had a reflexology massage on my feet. Excellent. Yes, they are on the pricey side, but they are high quality and in my opinion, worth it. read more

Worst experience ever. I HAD super long hair, to the point where I felt comfortable enough about cutting and donating while still having what's considered long hair. My stylist, Sam, was only supposed to cut 10", but TOOK OFF 18"! I even showed her a photo of the cut I wanted and was guaranteed I could donate and receive the cut. I wouldn't let her continue and left in tears. I actively voiced my displeasure and scheduled a consultation with a top stylist, who proceeded to tell me that extensions to make me feel comfortable would be $40 per strip. I declined and refunded for the original cut, but now I have to look at this everyday. Look elsewhere. read more

PLEASE READ!!!! The following was posted on Facebook by a very good friend of mine. She was humiliated and had no interest in retaining any type of relationship with thus business so I reached out to the owner with a voicemail. I feel that she should be aware of how her guests are being treated by staff. No response has been received. Clearly ownership cares more about your money than making sure that guests are treated with respect... So I made an appointment yesterday for an eyebrow wax at the New Reflections/Aveda in Maple Grove. Me: Walking into New Relections and looking at the 4 people at the desk, none of which will make eye contact with me so I kind of try and catch someones eye. After a couple beats someone finally looks at me. "I'm late" (it was 3:48 and my appointment was at 3:45). "I had an appointment at 3:45 under Sara for an eyebrow wax" Girl: Looks down at the computer and starts typing then looks up again and says "I'm sorry but we can't serve you". I assume this is because I am late, but she continues..."We have a no chlid policy unless the child has an apppointment." Me: looking down at Arthur who is in his car seat and very content and then looking at the 4 employees that are doing their best to not look at me. "But it's just an eyebrow wax and he'll be in his car seat the whole time." Girl: "It's a safety issue" Me: "ok" and I turn around and start to walk out. Some other girl shouts at me: "do you want us to rebook you?" Me: now crying because I really needed an eyebrow wax and I'm uncomfortable "no" and I walk out the door I totally get that they don't want screaming children running around and I get that it is their policy. But I have old man crazy eyebrows and I REALLY REALLY REALLY needed an eyebrow wax. And hormones, desperation, and embarassment made me cry, which means I will never go back again. My only real complaint is that they should have approached me differently. Someone should have just stepped up right away and explained the policy or make an exception because you see my crazy old man eyebrows and the fact that my child is strapped in a car seat and is very content and the appointment is only 10 minutes or less. If you are going to have a no child policy or really any policy that is uncomfortable to enforce, then you need to have employees that are willing to enforce it properly. Went yesterday looking for makeup. Approach AL (looked her up on your website.) She passed me off to someone else (AB) who was wonderful. When I asked about tinted lip sticks from Aveda she stated, "We haven't carried that for years." (Funny because the stylist used it when I had my makeup done in Duluth for a daughter's wedding.) It appeared my advance age of 58 and no makeup look was offensive to her and she was condescending. I was short on time, but really needing a quality hair color, so I stumbled upon New Reflections on my way home from an appointment in Maple Grove. I asked for an all-over cool, light brown; AS FAR FROM RED AS POSSIBLE. After she dried my hair, it was stark RED. She knew I was unhappy, and blamed my previous blonde color for creating the current red hue. She told me I had to come back the next day to correct it, (since it was 9pm by the time she finished.) Returning was extremely inconvenient, as I was needing a timely, fabulous new color for a special event. Not so much. They still charged me full price for the now "dulled" dark red. No stars from me, but the massage was fantastic. That being said, from the minute I walked in I knew I wouldn't come back. Front desk staff didn't even bother to greet. In particular, the man that finally did take notice was rude, acting as if I was an inconvenience. Very short and rushed provided no direction as he shoved me through the spa door. At check out I was informed my gift card could not be used for gratuity, so I would need to forfeit the balance. I could however buy product with the difference. A fantastic way to get more money out of me - forfeit or buy more... plus tip cash... The use of the gift certificate was confirmed at the time of booking, great time to prepare for the "no gratuity" policy. As if this wasn't enough, I made an appt. for a massage listed as $125.00. I was charged $135.00. I did not have any add on services, nor was I informed of the pricing change. Prices can change without notice, but all pricing lists still say $125.00. So, thanks for the $20 coupon new clients receive... I had to pay out of pocket for my service and keep my gift card and you overcharged me. This was an opportunity to WOW a potential NEW client. Instead, when I arrived you acted as though you couldn't be bothered and then gamed for a few extra bucks. So unfortunate because I would have been a repeat massage client and maybe then some. Staff, you should think about the impact this has on your clients and future business. This was a culture, not one person. My name is Jamie and I was there yesterday Saturday October 29th, 2016, along with 7 others as part of a wedding party. My appointment was at 9:15 with Ashley. We all had our hair done and Myself and all the 7 others were completely amazed at how expensive this place was. I had 2 braids and 6 small curls put in my hair and it cost me $65 for the "up do"... what up do? I used to love this Aveda location, but somehow it has gone down hill over the last year. The stylists give beginner service for master level prices. They also need customer service training. If I tell you the cape is too tight or that you're burning my scalp with the blow dryer don't argue about it. This is the second time I have tried going back, but I have def learned my lesson and will not be coming back again. For those of you looking for a better salon, go to the Plymouth location. I usually get my hair colored and cut at the Plymouth location but there were no openings on the day I wanted. I decided to go to this location and the reception booked me with Erica. She was GREAT! Super nice, but very focused on her work. She evened out my BAD haircut from a different place and retouched my roots covering the grays perfectly. I picked out a pic of a an Oreo and said that's what I wanted for color (the chocolate parts of course). It turned out awesome and I will definitely be back for regular cuts and colors from Erica. I decided to try out this salon for a haircut because I had a gift card. My stylist was quite unpleasant. She was really blunt and crabby. Really rushed and rough while washing my hair, brushing my hair and giving a massage and kept saying how heat damaged my hair is (it really isn't bad...?). To top it off, my haircut is horrible. I have long, straight hair. My layers are uneven and my face framing is extremely choppy and random. I am going back to my normal gal at Kalla Lily to fix it. read more

I don't usually leave reviews online, but after talking with other stylist friends about my experience I felt I should. I believe I saw Sam about 2 weeks ago for a cut and color. I had hair to my waist, and I knew the ends had damage. I showed her pictures and asked for a layered look, and to just take what was damaged off the length. She showed me what she was thinking - about 5 or 6 inches - and I was perfectly fine with that. When I asked her for layers, she told me she couldn't do that because of how thin my hair was and because I had so little it would leave holes. I have never in my life been told I have thin hair... I actually am always told the opposite. I texted my mom and she asked if the stylist was kidding - she wasn't. While coloring my hair, the stylist realized she didn't have enough dye mixed for all of my hair. This wouldn't be a big deal at all, but it was frustrating that she had just told me how little hair I had. I had also shown the stylist pictures for the color that I wanted - different shades of red from dark at my roots, to a more vibrant red on the ends. In the end, the cut was to just below my shoulders (much, much shorter than she had implied it would be in the beginning) and just an all over dark burgundy color. When I brought up how much shorter it was than what we had discussed, she said that it was but I had mentioned how fast my hair grows anyways. I could have handled the cut being shorter than planned, but when I brought up that the color was much different than what I had asked for, she said ya but she "thought that would be too drastic" for me. I have had my hair all different colors throughout my life - red, blonde, black, purple, etc. I am not afraid of color and I am not sure why she took it upon herself to decide that what I asked for wasn't what I should have. Not to mention, she didn't bring this up as a concern once throughout my appointment. During the whole appointment, the stylist talked about a lot of extremely personal things and, I felt, was unprofessional. She asked very bluntly if my pregnancy was planned. (I am 8 months and very obviously pregnant) When I said yes, she immediately asked if I was married and then asked how old I was. She pushed to let her curl my hair when I had asked her not to, and in the end I just wanted to get out of there. She also pushed for me to pre-book another appointment with her for 8 weeks out, even though I said that was around when I was due and I would just call. When I went to the cashier to pay, it was about half of what I was expecting. When I mentioned this to the cashier, she said that was because Sam is the newest talent and her prices reflect her experience. I have no problem with someone who is learning, but I seriously think this should have been said before my appointment. I came here thinking I was going to get a professional cut and color, and instead did not get anything close to what I asked for and had an extremely uncomfortable experience. read more
