My first experience was awesome! She listened, understood my hair type and the hair transition I am going through. She did an excellent job styling it (despite the transition) she charged 70. Unfortunately, the lady that cut my hair that day, is not working anymore at Kai. Today another lady cut and styled my curly hair. The hair cut was ok, but she did a terrible job when styling my hair definitely she doesn't know how to style a curly hair. And she charged 80. ‍ read more

Kai has been such a gem. When my stylist moved to Chicago, I was so grateful to happen upon Kai (thanks, Yelpers!). I love seeing Heidi to color and style my hair; she turns my ideas into reality and is the sweetest. The massage therapists are both wonderful! I've also loved my facials here. Went to get my hair cut for the first time in years, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. Everyone was super kind and professional; they really made me feel cared for. I don't ever go to salons. Growing up in a single parent household, if you needed your hair cut, it was going to be mom doing it. I recently relocated to Champlin and visited Claudia at the Kai Salon. It was a wonderful experience, everyone was helpful, friendly and courteous. The salon took all the proper precautions during the pandemic: I called upon my arrival, they texted when I was able to enter the salon, they took my temperature and everyone wore masks. I had an appointment, but when I walked in all the stylists were busy. No one seemed to be wrapping up. I was given a glass of warm tap water. After 10 minutes I left. Their prices for this area are not cheap, after all it is Champlin MN. For the money at least they could keep their appointments. read more

I was very impressed with my experience here! I've only been here once, but I will definitely be going back. Janice did a cut and color for me and the results were exquisite! My hair had previously been somewhat tortured when I bleached it all and dyed it bright purple (which was totally fun for awhile!), and Janice gave me my rich brown locks back, as well as a cut to remove some of the wrecked-by-bleach ends. She was super nice, conversing with me while working on my hair, and also brought me a soda while I waited for the dye to set. Like I said earlier - I will DEFINITELY be going back! :D read more

I had gotten a less than desired cut and color from a salon, that I shall not name. I came to Kai Salon based on location and met with Sarah. She knew exactly how to fix what the last stylist had done. She was warm and welcoming and a master at what she does. I have a very complex hair type, coarse, thick, curly but she took me on with confidence and I won't go anywhere else than Kai Salon. I recommend to everybody. read more

I had an appointment with Ava today. She takes time to listen and offer suggestions to do a perfect job! My hair cut and color is fabulous! I have gotten many compliments. The salon uses Aveda products, you are greeted with a warm towel and lotion. You also get a scalp massage with your hair service! I will definitely be back soon to see Ava. read more

My experience was fine - just okay. And for $200+, I expect more than fine. The reservation process was great. The salon is beautiful. The products are great. But the service was meh. I was a first time customer for a full foil. The senior technician put my foils in and then set me up for 45 minutes of processing time -- just sitting in the waiting area. In that time she had another client for a haircut (that is fine - I understand maximizing your time and profit) and chatted with her friends at the front desk. What bothered me is the lack of care that I was shown - not once did she check on my hair - not once. Even when she went to take the foils out of my hair - she started taking them out - didn't even check one. Just what worked according to the schedule. I could understand this kind of process if I was a repeat customer and she knew my hair but I was a brand new customer (and definitely won't be a repeat one). My hair ended up completely over processed. She did years of damage in one appointment. And to make it worse, the haircut was about on par with a cheap mall chain. At least at a cheap mall chain, I would have gotten what I paid for. I am sad to say this was not a good experience for me. read more
