I love the Waverly Diner. Have been coming here for years and never had a bad meal or bad service. Their staff is fantastic. I have no idea where these "bad service" reviews are coming from? The best Turkey Club in Manhattan...and I've tried many. One thing that I love about the Waverly is that you're never rushed. After eating my meal, they continue to refill coffee and never pressured. I've lingered there for two hours during slower hours, and all they are is friendly. And I'll always remember that they stayed open during peak Covid. I later found out that they own the building...a godsend for their customers. I look at the legendary Cozy Soup & Burger. They just closed because their rent went through the roof. read more

If I see a diner I'm gonna go in. This one was no exception. I was sat immediately on a Wednesday evening, and service was speedy to take my order and get the food out. It feels nice and quaint, very cozy. I got the veggie burger with fries. I think they weren't my cup of tea, but that's personal preference. The waverly melt was good with the onions but the fries were very mid. The Reuben was also open faced which was unexpected (and not exactly what we wanted). The menu is quite extensive and I think anything can be ordered at any time. After looking through the entire menu, I opted for a Western omelette with hash browns and wheat toast, and a "fresh homemade" lemonade. The omelette and potatoes were served in a skillet, but I don't think they were prepared in it. The omelette was more done than I like, and the hash browns not as crisp as I like, but they were fine. as was the lemonade. There were a lot of other interesting things on the menu, and their dessert selection looked very good. But I'm a retro kind of girl and I am most definitely love my nostalgic diner. So my latest visit I had a spinach omelette sandwich and it was so exceedingly delicious and healthy and reasonably priced. I have had breakfast here a lot but I have stopped by for some lunches & it's hard to pass up their famous ever so delectable cinnamon rice pudding! I have been coming here since the 90's!! This was my go to diner when I came to the village in High School and College. I haven't been here in over 10 years because I moved but I'm always happy to come back home to NYC for great food. They are right on the corner and the subway is right there. They still don't disappoint. They certainly have renovated and brought themselves up to meet the needs of the community traffic. They did social distance and even have outside dining now. They had a temperature check machine but didn't use it. I was there on a Sunday morning before noon and was seated right away. I think because it rained so much this weekend, we had the advantage of it not being too crowded- Note to the world: Go out to eat when it rains. Their fresh lemonade was really refreshing and light. I wish there were free refills! We ordered french toast, eggs, Turkey sausage and the lox omelette. All amazing!! Real diner food at its Best!! Prices were very affordable.
